Chapter Thirteen

William went into the bedroom; Samantha was already awake, so he grabbed one of the mild sedative syringes from his bag and injected her. After waiting for it to take effect he undid the restraints and removed her gag, he then proceeded to clean her up, remove the bandage on her stomach and dress her in fresh clothes. He brought Sam out to the living room and placed her into the chair, he then tied her wrists and ankles to the chair but didn’t re-apply the gag right away though. “It seems as though your ‘boyfriend’ is still unconscious, they also haven’t quite pinned down that its me yet, but they definitely suspect me in their new case. Seems they haven’t figured out that its you either, everything is going perfectly to plan.” Sam simply gazed at William with cold dead eyes, she was glad Nick was ok, but she didn’t want to give her captor the satisfaction of seeing her all emotional. William didn’t really expect her to answer him, but he was surprised by the look she had in her eyes, he knew he’d broken her, but didn’t quite expect her to be acting the way she was.

He decided that now was as good a time as any to go out and “spy” on Sam’s team, he knew she wasn’t going to go anywhere and was fairly confident they wouldn’t find out it was her until it was too late. Before William left, he gagged Samantha again, though he decided to wrap the tape around her mouth again to ensure she wouldn’t be able to call for help, not that anyone would be able to hear her anyway. He also decided to give her another sedative, only this one knocked her completely unconscious. William then left to go gather the information he so desperately wanted to know, while Sam sat unconscious in the chair dreaming of her unfortunate situation from 4 months ago.

**FOUR MONTHS AGO**

Sam had been called out to the crime scene by her Uncle Matt, everyone else was busy with other cases, she was the only other one on duty at that time. It was the 3rd body dump that month and the MO was the same as all the others, Female victims: late teens to late 20’s, tortured for a few days to a few weeks and then killed and dumped. There were sure it was the O’Brien brothers, Thomas and William, but they had been unable to catch them. Arriving at the crime scene Sam greeted Officer Dean Kent, he was usually on most of the crime scenes these days, “Hello Dean, looks like I’m the last to arrive, how long ago did everyone leave?” Officer Kent really enjoyed working with Sam she knew her stuff and was always a pleasure to work with, “Hey Sam, not more than 10 minutes, as you can see they already gathered the body, looks like they left you the good stuff.” They laughed and talked a bit more and then Sam got to work collecting the evidence at the scene, little did they know they were being watched.

Thomas didn’t normally come back to the crime scenes after dumping the bodies, but he had left a few articles behind and thought he had enough time to grab them and dump them before the body was discovered. He was wrong though; the police had found this one very quickly he was going to have to rethink their dumping sites. By the time he returned to the site it was already swarming with police and crime lab techs, so he waited patiently for all of them to leave so he could ditch the last of the evidence. Finally, there was only one cop left he figured all he had to do was sneak around and then leave, if he was careful Thomas could be done and gone before the cop even noticed. About the time he was ready to move a crime scene van arrived and out stepped the most beautiful woman Thomas had ever seen, if he had heard the cop correctly this was detective Samantha Riley. The name definitely piqued an interest for him, he wondered if she was related to detective Matthew Riley, the bane of his and William’s existence. It would seem that Sam was there to finish the evidence collection, and as luck would have it, only she and Officer Kent remained.

Knowing he had to work quickly but quietly Thomas waited for the officer to move out of ear shot of Sam, he grabbed a nearby rock and slowly crept up on Officer Kent. As soon as he was behind him, he struck Dean in the back of the head and caught him to keep him from hitting the ground. Working fast he used the officers hand cuffs to restrain him, and then pulled out a piece of cloth and gagged Officer Kent. He then pulled the officer so that he would be out of sight of Samantha and hid himself closer to her so he could strike. Sam was busy collecting evidence, but when it grew quite all of sudden, she was concerned, she looked around for officer Kent but didn’t see him anywhere. She finished bagging the piece of evidence she was working on and got up and started walking towards where she had last seen him. This was perfect for Thomas, he quietly followed behind her waiting for the right moment to be able to grab her, he always carried a syringe full of sedative in case they ever came across a female who piqued their interest. Sam was close to finding Officer Kent, who was still unconscious, so Thomas knew it was now or never. Acting quickly, he came up behind Sam and placed his hand over her mouth, she struggled and screamed but it was no use, Thomas took out the syringe and plunged it into Sam’s neck. He pushed down on the plunger as she continued to struggle, but soon she stopped and went limp, and he carefully set her down.
