Chapter 30

William closed the small gap between their faces and kissed Sam one last time, she desperately tried to move away but lacked the strength. He ended the kiss and let out a small chuckle before standing up, knowing she wouldn't put up much of a fight, William cut the rope binding Samantha's wrists and ankles. He then gently pulled Samantha and steadied her on her feet before turning her around retying her hands behind her back. William once more carefully turned her around once he was done so that they were once again face to face. He leaned her gently against the wall and went in to the bag he had left in the room with her, William then pulled out a small roll of clear surgical tape. Typically used for keeping needles or wires in place it was even more secure than the fetish or duck tape he like to use. William carefully ripped off a piece and placed it over Sam's mouth gaging her again, she let out a small muffled noise as she tried to speak and failed. Bending down one last time he grabbed a large silver knife out of the bag, as soon as Sam saw it her eyes went wide. William grabbed Sam and turned her away from him, he then led her out of the room while holding the knife to her throat, where Matt was waiting.

William slowly left the room and was holding the knife to Samantha's throat, he had her positioned in front of him on the off-chance Detective Nolan's team was finally going to take the shot, or even better if detective Riley himself had actually managed to escape. No matter what awaited him back in the other room, he was prepared to take the detectives daughter down with him. It was just a small bend or hall between the room they just left and the one where he had left Matt, but the moment he walked out he saw the Detective ready with his weapon. William couldn't help but smile, as he did, he saw Detective Riley's face drop the moment he saw his daughter in front of him. "I must say detective I wasn't quite sure what to expect upon exiting, but I am glad I was prepared for any eventuality. Even if the fun is coming to an end sooner than I anticipated." He pressed the gently against Samantha's throat, and it drew a thin line of blood as well as a small whimper of pain from his victim. "I would strongly advise against that detective unless you want your daughter's throat slit. But then again, you're not the only one with a weapon drawn on me, are you?" Matt immediately lowered his weapon, but he knew the snipers were still watching William and waiting for an opening. "My weapons down William, but as long as you hold that knife to her throat, you're still a threat." William knew Matthew was right, but he didn't care he kept the knife right where it was and moved further into the room but still keeping his distance from the detective. "I believe I can live with that Detective, even if it is only for a few minutes longer." William took a quick moment to look at Sam and saw a single tear fall down her cheek.

Samantha was scared beyond belief, when William had pressed the knife hard enough to draw blood, she honestly had thought it was the end. William had moved them further into the room but was smart enough to maintain distance between them and Matt. By the time they had stopped moving he was in front of the window that showed a perfect view of her father's apartment, Samantha caught the faint glint of the sniper's rifle. She honestly didn't know if William had placed himself there on purpose or not. Sam could see the fear in her father's eyes, it matched her own and caused another small tear to fall. She knew what needed to be done, and while she was scared, knew it was the only way to catch William off guard. Steeling herself for what was about to come, Samantha gave her father one last look and the smallest nod she could, Matt caught the nod and wasn't sure what was about to happen but stayed still for the sake of his only daughter. Sam mustered all the strength she had left and reeled back using her head to smash William in the face. Temporarily disoriented from the pain she had inflicted he pulled Sam closer to himself and before anyone could react used the knife in his hand sliced Samantha's throat open. Everything went in slow motion for Sam, she saw her father shout, and at the same time felt the red-hot searing pain across her throat. William let her go preparing to go for the detective, but as she fell to the floor her blood soaking everything, the sniper took his shot and nailed William in the left shoulder. The momentum of the shot cause William to fall backwards and away from Sam and detective Riley.

As if on cue Chris and his team came rushing into the apartment, they went over to William and kicked the knife away before securing him in handcuffs. Matthew had rushed to Samantha's side, he placed his had on his daughters throat attempting to stop the bleeding. Chris seeing his friends struggling pulled his shirt off and handed it to Matthew, removing his hand he held the shirt to Samantha's throat to stop the bleeding. Noticing that his daughter was struggling to breathe Matt carefully removed the tape from her mouth, and a small stream of blood slipped out. Tears slipped down her cheeks and she struggled to keep her eyes open, Samantha desperately wanted to tell Matt how much she loved him. Detective Riley spoke soothing words to his daughter, he tried to keep her awake but she slipped into unconsciousness and her breathing became slower. The paramedics came in and quickly loaded Samantha onto a stretcher, and rushed her off to the hospital with her father by her side.

It had been almost a day since Nick last spoke with his boss and friend, but it was only just a few short hours ago that his sister had told him what happened. As Nick was still in a lot of pain, he had stayed in the hospital anxiously waiting for any and all updates from his sister, it wasn't until he saw Matt come into his room that he realized what had happened. While Samantha was rushed into emergency surgery Matthew filled Nick in on what had gone down. Sam wasn't out of the woods yet in fact she had coded while on the way to the hospital, but miraculously they managed to get her heart beating again and made it to the hospital. The doctors had managed to get Samantha stabilized and her wound closed, they went about assessing her for other injuries when a female nurse noticed the sexual assault. Knowing she would be unconscious for a while yet, they went to find Detective Riley and give him the news, while the other doctors and nurses finished cleaning her up and moving her to the ICU.
