Chapter Fourteen

**STILL IN THE PAST**

Thomas left Sam lying on the ground as he quickly went back to his car for rope and tape, upon returning he bound Sam’s hands behind her back and bound her feet as well so she wouldn’t be able to run or kick him. Then he took a could pieces of tape and gagged the detective, once he was done, he picked her up and carried her back to his car and placed her inside the trunk. He drove to the abandoned warehouse he and William had been using, it was perfect most of the buildings surrounding this one were abandoned, there was no one around for at least 5 miles. And even if there was this place had a basement and the pipes still worked and created lots of noise, so even if their victims did scream no one would be able to hear them. William and Thomas weren’t stupid though they still set up a small discrete security system, so should anyone happen to stumble in they would know. Thomas pulled Sam out of the trunk and made his way to the basement, they had a room set up that was hidden behind a large steel door, and the lighting they kept dim with just a low watt bulb or two. In the center of the room, they had a small worktable and a heavy metal chair which they bolted to the ground, this was where Samantha would be going.

He knew the sedative would be wearing off soon, so he quickly got to work, he cut the ropes binding her hands and feet and then placed her into the chair. He went over to the work table and grabbed some barbed wire, it was his favorite when it came to restraining their victims. He carefully wrapped it around Sam’s wrists and the arms of the chair, he then wrapped it around her ankles as well. Satisfied that she wouldn’t be going anywhere he moved onto the gagged, he removed the tape and instead replaced it with a leather gag. Hand crafted from cows hide, it was soft but pliable, it also had a buckle so that they could control how tight it was for their victim. It worked better than most tapes and kept the screams muffled, and because it was leather it didn’t move as much and stayed put. Thomas satisfied with his work went off to contact his brother and let him know of this development, he also wanted to do some research on detective Samantha Riley.

It had been a few hours since Sam had checked in with Matthew and he was starting to get worried, he couldn’t contact Officer Kent either. He grabbed Detective Chris Nolan and they drove out to the crime scene together, he hoped everything was alright, but he wasn’t prepared for what they would find. When they got to the crime scene Sam’s vehicle was still there along with officer Kents, but neither of them were anywhere to be seen. Matthew and Chris pulled their weapons and called out while looking around, they heard a muffled yell and Matt went to investigate while Chris looked around some more. Matthew moved closer to the sound and what he found shocked him down to his core, it was Officer Kent bound and gagged, about the same time matt cake across him Chris hollered for Matt. He went over to officer Kent and removed the gag, “What happened Officer Kent? Where’s Sam?”, Dean told detective Riley he didn’t know, he was patrolling the area and keeping and eye on Sam and the next thing he knew everything had gone black. While Matt was taking the handcuffs off of officer Kent Chris came over holding a gun and a smashed phone, “I found these next to Sam’s kit, I also saw a used syringe, I don’t think she’s here Matt.” Matt was beyond livid, but not with Officer Kent, just at the situation, “Dean I need you to tell me anything you can remember.” Unfortunately, he didn’t remember much, when he came too Sam was gone and he’d been tied up and gagged, he wasn’t able to reach his radio to call for help. Matt called the team to process the crime scene, they needed to find out what happened to Sam and fast.

Thomas had told his brother what he’d done and rather than be proud of his little brother he’d chewed him out and told him the clean up the mess himself. Thomas was angry at William, everything he did, he did because he wanted to make his older brother proud. He was determined to prove his brother wrong, after he had finished talking with his brother, he got to work researching Detective Samantha Riley and what he found did not disappoint. She was related to Detective Matthew Riley, but what they didn’t know is that she was his daughter, not his niece. From what Thomas gathered neither of them knew either, he had to do some serious digging and what he found was short of marvelous, he couldn’t wait to use this knowledge to his advantage. He’d left the door open to the room Sam was in, and heard her start to stir, Thomas decided it was time to introduce himself. He placed a mask over his face so that she wouldn’t be able to see it and then proceeded into the room where she was.
