Chapter Twenty-Five
Matthew opened the door and lifted his weapon, it was dark inside the apartment, so he pulled out a small flashlight he had with him. He walked into the apartment and slowly moved the small light around until it illuminated something in the middle of the room. It took Matthew a moment to realize who he was looking at, but when he realized it was Samantha, he rushed towards her. Without thinking he dropped the flashlight and his weapon; he pulled the blindfold down so she could see. Sam cried at the sight of her father; he gently removed the tape from her mouth so she could speak. Unfortunately, the reunion was short-lived, William stepped out from the shadows and closed the door. Before Matthew could react and grab his weapon, William pulled out a taser and fired at the detective. He went down hard, Sam screamed as she watched her father convulse on the floor. William walked over to Sam and her father; he had a sadistic smile plastered across his face as he watched the detective thrash about on the floor. Eventually, he stopped moving and William bent down and injected him with a sedative and removed the taser barbs from Matt’s chest. Leaving the detective where he was for the moment William went over to Sam and grabbed her by her neck pulling her up. He didn’t squeeze hard enough to cause, but just enough to stop her shouting.
“That’s enough Sam… he’s unconscious not dead!” He brought her over to the cot and sat her down, he then walked back over to Matthew.
“What’s the point of this William? You have me why do you need my father?!” Sam watched as he dragged her father over to the chair, he sat him in the chair and grabbed some rope from the table.
“The point of this Love… is suffering. I want him to watch as I take you from him…” He trailed off as he finished tying the detectives hands behind his back and the chair. William then went and kneeled in front of Samantha. “I was going to film it for him, but this is such a better opportunity! He’ll be completely helpless, unable to do anything… it’s perfect really.” The way he spoke completely unnerved Sam, he had so much confidence in what he was saying that it scared her.
William got up and walked over to the table again and grabbed the roll of tape and walked back towards Sam. He kneeled again so they were eye to eye, he ripped off a few pieces and placed them over her mouth. She didn’t fight him, even if she could she didn’t have the strength. William caressed her face and she turned away, he laughed and got up again. He went to the door and opened it, peeking into the hallway to make sure all was clear before going out. William knew Sam and her father weren’t going anywhere so this was the perfect time to stock up on supplies.
He went back to his place as quickly as he could, he grabbed more rope and tape for Sam. He also grabbed more syringes and his sedative mix, placing everything in a bag he also grabbed a small collapsible chair so he’d have some place to sit. As it was the detective now occupied the only chair and Sam was on the cot, he needed something for himself. On the way back to Sam and Matthew William also grabbed some bottled water and food. His time with Sam was coming to an end, but even he wasn’t so cruel as to deprive his captive of one last meal.
William got back to the apartment building and entered through the back and took the stairs. When he entered 10D Matthew was still unconscious and Sam had managed to lay herself down on the cot. He could tell she wasn’t doing well, not surprising with all the hell he had put her through. That and long term use of his sedative caused the body to slowly shut down if left unchecked. He unpacked the small back and set up the chair for himself, he went over to Sam and removed her gag before sitting her up and providing her with food. When he was done he laid her back down and injected her again, he need some time to gather his thoughts and eat. While he could go long periods of time without sleep and food, he tried not to do it if he could help it.
While William was holed up with his captives, the team was still at work processing the evidence and working the case. They continued to send updates to Chris and Matthew as they got them, Laura had come back from checking on Nick. She went to Matt’s office thinking he was back, it was empty so she tracked down Alex to see if he knew where their boss was. After learning Alex hadn’t seen him either she called Chris to see if maybe Matt had gone to the precinct. Unfortunately Chris hadn’t seen him either so Laura tried calling and it went straight to voicemail. She thought he might have turned off his phone so she decided she would try again later. Unaware that their friend was now in the hands of a deranged serial killer.
