Chapter 34: She Is Beautiful

Chapter 34: She Is Beautiful

Abigail

“You look perfect, sugarplum. I couldn't be luckier.” Luciano said and I felt my cheeks get warm and l lowered my gaze ro hide it but he took a hold of my jaw and forced me to look at him.

Without a word, he kissed me again and we walked out of the house towards his car. There were five other cars outside too and I became confused, he seemed to notice.

“For safety.” He mumbled, I swallowed hard and nodded my head.

He opened my door and I thank him as I took a seat, he went around the front of the car and say in the driver's seat. With a smooth turn, we were out of my gate and on the road. My stomach was literally bursting with butterflies and I felt his hand on my thigh, stroking it tenderly. It calmed my nerves a little bit.

“You don't have to be nervous, angel.” He took my hand and raised it to his lips and gave me a soft kiss. I smiled at him.

“Who is going to be there?” I asked.

“My mother, Ambrose, probably Oliver and Dale and some of our close family friends.” He replied.

That sounded like a lot of people which meant a lot of people to impress. I just hoped I could take the heat.

Ambrose's mansion was beautiful but not as big as Luciano's and when we walked in, there were people everywhere. As soon as we entered, their gaze snapped towards us and I leaned into his hold more. The men were wearing expensive suits and women dressed in stunning clothes. My confidence lowered by the sight of them, the women were like taken out of a model magazine and their judgy looks made me want to roll my eyes. What was their problem? His arm around my waist tightened and he lowered his mouth to my ear.

“You are the most beautiful woman here, angel.” He muttered and kissed my temple.

I smiled at him but a figure in the corner of my eyes caught my attention. In front of us stood a woman, probably around thirty, she was beautiful of course and her eyes scanned every inch of my body with a frown on her face. And then her eye snapped to Luciano, a seductive smirk now playing on her lips instead.

“Luciano, sweetheart. I haven't seen you in forever.” She twirled a piece of her hair between her fingers.

“I have had other stuff to worry about.” He replied and seemed to be bothered by her presence and I wondered what she meant by her words.

“I see that you have traded me for something less.” I narrowed my eyes at her and opened my mouth to say something at her rudeness. He noticed and stopped me by stepping forward and leaned closer to her.

“She means more to me than you will ever mean to anyone, don't make me prove it.” His tone was laced with anger and he glared at me one last time before walking away.

“Why did you say that to her?” I asked him with concern in my tone.

“Just something for her to leave you alone.”

“Who is she?” I asked.

He guided me into the mass of people, every single one backing away to give us space and he greeted some with a nod.

“I slept with her a year ago doesn't mean a thing to me, only you do.”

Before I could say something, he stopped in his tracks, making me look ahead to search for the reason. There was a woman walking towards us, she was probably in her late fifties and I guessed she was his mother. Her features resemble him in some ways, she smiled and greeted her son with open arms. Then, she noticed me and her eyes widened, just as her smile did. She squealed and took a hold of both my hands, I didn't know what to do so I just smiled back nervously.

“Who is this beautiful young woman? Did you finally bring me your future wife?” She looked between her son and me as she spoke.

I wasn't sure what to say so I looked at Luciano with a pleading look and he chuckled at my confusion.

“If it were then, I would be lucky, mother. This is Abigail Laurent, my girlfriend.” He said and my eyes widened, I snapped my eyes to him. What did he just say? His mother gasped and smiled even wider.

“She is beautiful. Welcome, Abigail. I am Luciano's mother.” Her accent could be heard in her voice.

I smiled at her softly and she let my hands go, Luciano still held a grip on my waist.

“It is nice to meet you.” I said with a soft tone.

“Believe me, Abigail. I am very pleased to meet the woman that had captured my son's heart and I must say you are very beautiful.” Her hand caressed my cheek, I was no longer nervous. She seemed so sweet.

I looked up at him at her comment and noticed his cheeks turn a little pink. Was he blushing?

“Please forgive me but I have to find your brother.” She said and left us. Our eyes met and I raised my eyebrows and smiled.

“You blushed?” I teased him, he scoffed and looked ahead.

“I did not.” I giggled and he tried to hold back a smile.

“I don't know I was your girlfriend.” I asked carefully, he turned his face to me with a smile and kissed the top of my head.

“Well, you are whether you like it or not.” I smiled.

The rest of the night, he introduced me to every single person at the dinner and they all seemed to step on eggs shells in his presence, even the older men. I could see that he was respected and I was a little turned on by it. The women all looked at me with jealous and judging looks, it was annoying to be honest. During dinner, he had his hand on my thigh, stroking it. He always kept me close the entire night and when I noticed someone eyeing me or standing too close, he stepped between us in a protective manner.

He knew that after what happened with Michael, I could still get uncomfortable around me I didn't know. I was complaining, though. In fact, I love how protective he was towards me, it boosted my confidence and made me more drawn to him.

I felt that strange feeling in my stomach. I am falling for him already?
