Chapter 65: You Have Something That I Want
Chapter 65: You Have Something That I Want
Abigail
“They were in the car behind us.” Luciano muttered and I frowned.
“Are they after us?” I asked and he shook his head.
“My men sabotage their car, it will take a while before they are you on the road again and by then we will be on our way home already.”
“Then, why are we driving fast?”
He was seriously going over one hundred and eighty kilometers which was way over the speed limit. He squeezed my thigh and chucked.
“It is better to be safe and sorry, angel.” My eyebrows raised.
“Driving at this speed is anything but safe.” I mumbled to myself and turned my head to look out the window.
When his phone rang, he quickly picked it up and answered. He spoke the same language with the person on the phone and I noticed his brows furrowed together. Something had happened.
“For the fuck sake, I will be there soon. Just keep them calm.” He gritted into the phone and when he ended the call, he groaned and his expression looked irritated.
“We have to go to one of my warehouses, my men said that The Black Lotus Mafia boss and his men were there.” He said, making a U-turn.
“What? Right now?” I sat, a hint of nervousness in my tone.
“Yes, apparently.”
We were now off the highway and driving on a small road. I saw a glimpse of a building in the distance and soon a huge warehouse came into sight. He stopped the car and the others parked right by us and before exiting, he turned to me.
“Do you have your gun?” he asked and I nodded.
“Good, now stay put.” I frowned and before he got out, I gripped his arms to stop him.
“What? Why am I staying?”
“I am going in by myself, of course.” He muttered and no fucking way am I allowing that to happen.
“What do you mean by yourself? No, I am coming with you.” I took off my seatbelt but his hand stopped me.
“Abigail,” he sighed.
“I have my men with me, it will be fine. Just stay in the car, okay?” His tone was firm, not leaving room foe argument.
“But..”
“No, I won't risk it. Stay here and don't leave the car, understand?” I turned my head to look away from him with a sigh but nodded.
“Use your words, baby girl.”
“Yes, I understand.” I answered, slightly annoyed with his demanding behavior.
How was I supposed to be okay with him walking in there without knowing if he would even come out alive? I had no idea how this mafia played.
“Good,” he grabbed my jaw and turned my head to face him.
“I love you,” the words came out soft, giving me butterflies and I couldn't help but smile.
“I love you too.” I sat and he pulled my face closer to give me one last kiss before he walked out, leaving me alone in the car.
*****
Luciano POV.
I walked out of the car and towards the entrance to the warehouse, I had my handgun in my grip and ready to use it if the Lotus decided to get aggressive. My men following me had more complicated weapons lifted in front of them as we made our way inside. With my men behind me, I walked through the door and up the stairs. The first thing I saw when we entered the main room where we kept the goods was Meteo Santana's. He was Carlos' younger brother who took the position as the boss after I liked Carlos. He might not be too happy about that.
Opposite him and his men, stood my men lined up and looking as relaxed as ever. Slight unamused, though. When they heard us enter, they turned around and Metteo's frown turned into an emotionless smile. I stopped a few meters in front of him, noticing that his men as well were heavily armed.
“Look what the cat dragged in.” I mocked him, gesturing with both my hands towards him and his men and my men laughed behind me.
“Trust me, I would rather be anywhere else but here.” He muttered.
It had been a long time since I had seen him, the last time we met was when he was still a teenager. At that time, my father ruled my family's cartel and we were good friends. That charge after my father died, Metteo and Carlos's father started seeing us as a threat when I took over, that was when our drug business really took off and we ran past them. To take it simply, they got pissed, they had been keeping their distance for some years, disputes were something you did not want in the mafia, it was unnecessary.
“Why are you here, Metteo? Are you pissed because I killed your sad excuse of a boss?” I asked, not holding back the memory we both already knew had occurred.
“Carlos was never a good leader, nor was he a good brother. He was everything I aspired not to be but do you know what I aspire to be?” He began stepping closer slowly and my men all raised their weapons towards him. I gestured with my hand for them to hold back.
“A leader who doesn't allow people to screw him over.” He continued, stopping in front of me.
“A leader who get taken seriously.” His voice had lowered, becoming deeper and I watched his face with a straight expression.
“Didn't your father and brothers say that, Metteo?” I asked.
“Actually, I believe that was what they mentioned right before I put a bullet between their eyes.” I pushed him further, seeing if he would break at some point but he stayed calm.
“I am not here to avenge them but you.” He lifted his fingers towards me.
“You have something that I want or more accurately someone.” He smirked, linking his hands behind his back.
It was clear that he wanted to gey his hands on Abigail, I already knew that. It was stupid decision to bring her here with me, I should have sent her home without me to keep her away from him. I had underestimated his attitude, he didn't seem as weak as his brother. I stayed quiet and watched as his gaze drifted away, he had an earpiece to which he now set his attention. His face lit up into a grin and he met my eyes again.
“Seems like you brought your little girlfriend, that was foolish of you. But if you are smart enough, you will hand over the girl and we won't cause any more trouble.” He smiled smugly, probably thinking that his way of negotiating was clever. I stepped closer, ignoring the many guns aimed at me.
“You came to my property and threatened me?” I said with a low tone, clenching my jaw.
It was one thing to act like an asshole from a distance but to come here on my ground and think that he can actually threaten me? It was laughable, he kept his calm exterior and if he was doubting his way of coming forward, he didn't show it.
“You must be even dumber than your family to start something like this with me.” I added.
“If you won't give her over peacefully, then I have no other choice than to force you.”
