Chapter 67: Future Queen

Chapter 67: Future Queen

Abigail

When Metteo cocked his gun, in the blink of an eye, I took my own gun from the thin strap and lifted it to and pointed it directly at the back of his head. My heart was racing but now was not the time to succumb to my nerves. I cocked the gun slowly, it gave off a clicking sound. I had never shot nor killed anyone before but for the man I love, I was prepared to do anything. Luciano moved his eyes to me and the corner of his lips turned up into a proud smirk and his gaze returned slowly to Metteo, lifting an eyebrow.

“Isn't this quite a situation?” Luciano grinned.

“It seems like you have underestimated your future queen.” He mocked him.

While we stood there, Metteo gun pointed at Luciano and mine at him, both his men and our men stood around us, waiting for orders from their leaders. Their guns were pointed at the opposite side member, ready to pull the trigger if only the allowing words were heard. It was completely silent in the building for a few seconds until all hell broke loose. Luciano said something in a foreign language that caused his men to fire. My natural response to the loud sound was to get away but I didn't do that by myself. I felt two arms wrapped around me and pulled me to the side and I automatically clung onto the person who ripped me away from the crowd.

The armed men split up, hiding behind the shelves to safely shoot their targets, I didn't see anything, only heard the loud echo of bullets firing and hitting either a person who let out a grunt or the wall. I didn't even notice that my eyes had closed until I no longer was hearing the deafening gunshots and I opened my eyes when I stumbled down the stairs. The man still held a tight grip around my arm while leading me outside. I looked up, it was Ambrose and he had a gun hanging across his back and what looked like a bulletproof vest around his upper body. What the hell was he doing here? I looked over my shoulder as we hurried down the last step and stopped when I noticed Luciano wasn't behind us. He turned to me and frowned at my sudden halt.

“We have to go, Abigail.” He said in a firm tone and tried to make me move my feet again by pulling my arm but I held back.

“I am not leaving without Luciano.” I muttered and he sighed.

“He will be right after us and he will kill me if I don't get you out of here. So come on.”

I hesitated but followed him down. When we got outside, I saw several cars to which one of them Ambrose led me towards. I hopped in quickly and he hurried around the car and before I knew it, we were on the road, driving away. I turned to him, confused and anxious about what had just happened.

“What are you doing here? I thought you were back home to take care of things there? What about Luciano, we have to go back to get him.” I said the words in one whole sentence, my thoughts and emotion were on a high drive. He raised his hand, trying to calm my nerves.

“Calm down, Abigail. Luciano will be fine, this was all his plan.” He said, calmer than I thought someone should be in this kind of situation. His brother was literally stuck inside a room with his enemies, getting shot at.

“I don't understand.” I frowned.

“We knew that The Black Lotus Mafia was here which was why my brother called me and several of our men to come here in case this happened.” He replied.

“But what about Luciano? What if he gets hurt?” I said carefully, the thought of that happening making my stomach turn.

“He has dealt with worse people than The Lotus Mafia. Trust me, he will be fine.” He muttered.

I kept quiet the entire drive, trying to calm down and repeating his reassuring words. It will be fine, Luciano will be fine.Ten minutes later we had arrived at the airport, driving directly into the space outside where the planes were and I recognized the private jet that we stopped next to and I walked behind Ambrose towards it. He seemed rather stressed, a frown planted on his face as he wrote on his phone. I thought The Black Lotus Mafia wasn't that dangerous, so why was he tense?

Just as we reached the stairs that lead to the entrance of the jet, he gestured for me to walk first and I gave him a small smile and walked up. I felt his hand on the low of my back, a very light touch but it was there. As soon as we had gotten comfortable in our seats, we lifted. Luciano still hadn't arrived, I felt anxious and my legs bobbing up and down. I was still opposite Ambrose and watched as he took off his vest and lifted the strap that held his gun over his head. He then exhaled deeply and relaxed in his seat, leaning back. I looked down at my lap and sensed his strong gaze on my face.

“He will meet us at home, Abigail.” He assured me, I lifted my gaze and nodded. Suddenly his phone rang, and his eyebrows lifted when he saw the screen.

“Is your boyfriend calling?” He lifted the phone over the table between us and my hand grabbed it quickly. I answered the call, letting out a breath when I heard his voice.

“Abigail?” He called.

“Yes, it is me.” I said, a small smile on my lips. I played with the hem of my dress as I listened to him speak.

“Thank goodness,” he exhaled.

“Are you okay? Are you on the jet now?” He sounded concerned.

“I should be asking that, you are the one in the middle of a crossfire if I ask not mistaken.” He chuckled, the deep sound giving me butterflies.

“Don't worry about me, angel. I am okay as long as you are, now answer me. Are you on the plane?”

“Yes, we are.”

“Good,” he mumbled and I heard some muffled voices in the background and some shuffling around.

“Listen, call me when you get homes, I will meet you there, okay?” I nodded, forgetting that he couldn't hear me.

“Okay, I love you.”

“I love you too, my angel.”
