Chapter 95: I Would Be Careful If I Were You

Chapter 95: I Would Be Careful If I Were You

“Abigail is going to be up any second, you can wait here if you want.” I said to Mia, and she gave me a small smile and nodded.

“That sounds good.” I nodded in response and turned around to walk out to the others.

When I reached out, the sun forced me to squint to be able to see anything at all and not be blinded at the same time. They stepped aside when I reached out to grab an assault rifle that lay inside one of the black duffle bags. I turned it over as I eyed it carefully in my grip, positioning it in both hands as if I were aiming.

“This is good,” I said finally, putting it back.

“A few more of these and we were good to go, just make sure we have enough ammo.” It said and they all nodded.

“Where do you want to store it?” Ambrose asked.

“Put them in the warehouse with the other weapons, no need to complicate things. After all, this isn't the first time we have been dealing with a snobby Lotus.” I said, and they chuckled.

We talked a while before they packed up to head back. My brother walked to me as I stood in front of the cars, watching the other men zipping up every bag.

“So.. ummm.. where is Abigail?” He asked, keeping his eyes forward. I glanced at him, slightly surprised by the sudden change in subject. Up until recently, he has never really shown any interest in Abigail whatsoever.

“She is inside talking with Mia, I presume.” I said, and he nodded.

“How is it between you two? I mean you seem to be getting more and more serious.” He said, not leaving the subject.

“It has been good, I cared about her more than anything.”

“I just hope it lasts then.” He muttered, the words coming out with anything but honesty.

I frowned and opened my mouth to address his tone, but I got interrupted. The front door opens, displaying Abigail and Mia walking out of the mansion, smiling and laughing. Ambrose moved his attention to the two, and I noticed his eyes lingering on Abigail for a couple more seconds than considered appropriate. I watched him for a moment and then the realization hit me. He has a thing for her, of course. From the moment he saw her, I noticed something in the way he looked at her but didn't think much of it. But now it is clear as glass. The way he stiffened as soon as her name was out in the air, or her soft voice lightened up the room, I figured it was because a part of him still dislikes her disliked but had it been desired all along?

“I would be careful if I were you,” I said slowly, and he faced me again with a confused expression.

“What?”

“You don't think I see the way you look at her?” I asked with a sharp edge to my tone, and he looked taken aback by my observation and swallowed hard. A weak chuckle passed his lips.

“I don't know who you are talking about?” He said, his eyes drifted away from mine as his jaw twitched. I lowered my head to his ear, speaking slowly to keep the words between us.

“You had better keep your hands to yourself, Ambrose. God help me, I will beat you to death.” I warned him, he stayed silent and I chose to walk away from him.

It is not often that I get pissed at my own brother, but he should know better than to ogle at something that isn't his. Despite this blood running through our veins, our genetic relationship won't stop me from taking matters into my own hands if he comes between me and Abigail.

Seven months, that is how Abigail and I have officially been dating and it took two months for me to get her back after our one sensual night at that club. And where are we now? That is a good question, but it depends on how you see it. I mean considering we are moving into a new house soon, I would say we were in a good spot but doing that with an unpredictable and murderous cartel sniffing at your heels and making reality hit you like a truck.

Putting myself in dangerous situations, ones that are necessary, has never brought anxiousness or worry before. Maybe that was because I had no one else to protect other than myself, but now I have Abigail. A woman I would do anything in the world for. I would even give her the world if I could. Fuck that, I would give her the whole fucking galaxy. For the trip to Oshodi, I ordered my men to go to the casino there and inspect the building. Without getting noticed, obviously and I wanted to get a look at the place before entering it. I have to get to know every corner, every hidden or locked room where his guards and men are located.

I know Metteo, I know how his brain works, but not as a Don, not as the leader. That was where he had the advantage. During the last week, the days have included a busy schedule for me even more than usual, especially with preparing for the meeting with The Black Lotus Mafia. I don't know what he had planned, so I can't take any risks, no matter how small. This is why Abigail is staying here at the mansion with my mother to keep her calm and offer her company. The guards will be there as well as typical

I throw a glance at the clock that stands on my dark wooden desk, seeing that it shows five in the evening. I reserved a table for us at my restaurant, one that is privately held just for me. The restaurant is a high-class place with huge chandeliers dropping like a crystalline wastefall from the cream white ceiling. The sound of footsteps echoing through the hallway on the other side of the door nears me and the closer it comes, the more certain I get it who they belong to. Just as figured, Abigail walked into the office, she greeted me with a smile and I returned it, meanwhile eyeing her figure as she stepped closer. Her bag ends up on the chair, along with her jacket.

“What are you doing?” She asked, standing right by side and I looked at the open documents on my laptop.

“Just some work. Sit.” I pat my thighs and scoot out to give her enough space between me and the table.

“How was it with your friends?” I asked, moving one hand to her soft thigh while the other moves a strand of hair away from her bare shoulder. She shifted slightly on my lap as she draped one arm around my neck.

“It was nice, we had a good time. I haven't seen the guys in a long time due to them moving to college. So it was fun to finally meet them again.”

He hand plays with a lock of my hair, reminding me that I should probably get it cut. It wasn't too long but enough to wrap around her finger.
