Chapter 11

Lola's POV
I stood in the midst of a field, taking in my surroundings. Fog covered the rocky ground, making it seem as if I was standing on clouds rather than rocks. The sky was a tint of lavender grey, and its diamond looking stars shone so bright that it was impossible to see without their light.
It was beautiful and at the same time creepy as hell but all together, the scenery portrayed a spectacular place. The pin drop silence brought shivers down my spine, and the fact that I was all alone didn't make things better.
Wanting to walk around and see if anyone's here, I shook my head defiantly absolutely one hundred percent sure that I wouldn't find somebody in the middle of nowhere.
"You're not alone, dear Lola." A voice so soft yet so strong soared sounding like it bellowed from the sky above. I jumped looking around me, my heart stammering in fright.
"There's no need to fear me, dear one." A swoosh of wind made me gaze sideways. I gasped as what seemed like silver dust magically twirled with white lilies, adding to my astonishment.
As the dust and lilies fell slowly onto the ground, a woman wearing a long white dress appeared. Her snow white hair went past her waist and her eyes were a striking glassy silver. She smiled gently, taking a few steps until she was right in front on me.
Too stunned, I couldn't formulate the right words to speak. Who was this woman and what does she want with me? My expression must've given my thoughts away for she laughed softly displaying two dimples on either sides of her cheeks.
"Silly me, I didn't even introduce myself properly." Her smile didn't waver.
"I am Lilia or as they call me, the element beholder." My mouth hung open.
The almighty Lilia, the powerful of all powerful witches. I used to think she was just a myth created ages ago. It was told that the element beholder blesses us with our elements and gives us our powers. The element of any witch that comes to this world is already chosen by her.
History classes sure paid off.
"Where am I?" I asked, my voice wavering.
"In a place between your world and ours. You see Lola, I needed to speak with you. And seeing that there's someone around you wherever you go, the only way was while you're asleep." My brows scrunched in confusion apprehending her words.
So, right now I was talking to her in my dreams?
"Why?" Came out my response.
"Because you're so much more than you think you are, Lola. I know you're aware of your gravity power, am I correct?" I hesitantly nodded, unsure of what gravity has to do with her talking to me.
"You always wondered why you can't control any element other than fire; well the answer is simple." She cupped my cheeks with her delicate hands, her silver eyes reading through my soul.
"You're made for something greater. With gravity never being heard of as an element, I can assure than it is extremely powerful and difficult to control. I blessed you with fire since it works best with gravity and with the rise of the fiare again, you are of utmost importance." I pursed my lips into a thin line, remembering uncle Greg vision.
"They are coming very soon. You have to be ready, the kingdoms have to be ready. Gravity will not show on its own. If you're not capable of controlling it, it will control you. You have to reach a level of self-competence and for that to happen, you need to train very hard." She gave me a meaningful stare and I blushed.
I felt like she knows everything about me, as if I were an open book. I mentally rolled my eyes at my stupidity. Well, she is the element beholder and is the one who gifted me with my powers.
"The kingdoms will unite again and peace will befall. Complications are ahead of you child, but never show weakness even in your darkest days. You will rise, and a man shall rise with you." She uttered, her soft voice whispering into my ear.
I gasped pulling myself up. Breathing heavily, a wave of relief washed over me as I saw that I was in my room. I got out of bed, recapping what happened in my dream.
The questions running through my head needed to be answered, but Lilia disappeared before I could start with them. I didn't know whether I should be pleased or in a frenzy. The sudden information she gave out took me by surprise, and in an instant the responsibility of the supernatural world was put on my shoulders.
I still didn't understand the reason behind me getting chosen. I was unprepared, I knew that. So why give such a power to a girl like me while many were much more trained and ready for battle.
"Guess I should talk to Mark." I muttered to myself. I got dressed, combed my hair, put some perfume on and left my room. I didn't feel like talking to anyone especially since everything's gotten more complicated than it already was.
"You look like shit." Mark eyed me from top to bottom.
"Thanks for stating the obvious." I snapped rolling my eyes. He sure knows how to talk to a lady.
After a night of tossing and turning, I managed to sleep for a couple of hours. I expected to 'look like shit' as my ass of a friend remarked with the bags under my eyes.
"Rough night?"
"Ugh, don't remind me." I groaned sighing heavily. He went silent for a moment, and knowing Mark so well, I was sure he had a question rolling underneath his tongue.
"Whatever you want to ask, just ask." I said, sitting on the sofa. Mark grinned displaying his perfect set of pearl teeth.
"What's up with you and Jake?" He casually put his hands in the pockets of his jeans, leaning against the living room fireplace.
"What do you mean?" I raised my eyebrows questioningly. How did Mark know about – Oh, now I get it. Mia must've told him about me dulling in my room all day yesterday.
"You know, so what happened?"
"Mark, I don't want to talk about it right now. Maybe later?" I bit my lip, hoping he drops the subject. He nodded as he made his way towards me. Mark plopped himself down on the sofa and put his hand on mine, a concern smile etching his face.
"If you want to talk about it, I'll be right here baby girl." I faintly smiled seeing his worried glance.
"I know Mark. Who would I come tell first other than my big bro?" I joked, trying to lighten up the mood. Mark chuckled and pulled me in a side hug.
"You flatter me too much." He gasped putting a hand on his heart trying to appear touched. I snorted pulling away.
"I swear Mark, sometimes you're the most dramatic person on the planet." I murmured smiling. He threw his head back and laughed out loud making my smile spread even wider.
"Can't you deal with the rogues without me?" Jake stated in annoyance. He was clenching and unclenching his fists, his way of keeping himself calm.
He was talking to someone on the phone, pissed to be exact. It was probably his father convincing him to return to the kingdom. But I did notice him saying rogues which immediately took me by surprise. His grip on his phone tightened that I expected it to crush any second.
"Why don't you – fine." He growled lowly, his shoulders tense.
I bit my lip, concerned about whatever was happening back in his kingdom. Rogues were a serious issue for werewolves. From what I know, werewolves are usually born into packs which are like a second family. But any werewolf who rebelled against their leader, the alpha, is stripped out of their position and kicked out of the pack becoming a rogue.
Of course other scenarios are present such as running away from the pack and so on, but the main reason behind turning into a rogue is rebel.
"I'll be there soon." Jake gritted out before ending the call. He ran a hand through his hair and loudly growled in frustration. The conversation clearly had him on edge for he was pacing back and forth glaring daggers at the floor.
"What is it Lola?" He didn't bother looking at me knowing exactly where I stood. I gulped stepping onto the terrace. I almost forgot about werewolves and their heightened senses.
I'm pretty sure he knew I was here from the start but didn't say anything due to the heated argument.
"What's wrong?" I asked watching him shut his eyes close and take a deep breath.
"Jake, talk to me." My voice came out so soft, consoling him. I put a hand on his arm in attempt to calm him down. It took him a moment before he exhaled heavily, the anger in his eyes replaced by tranquility.
"Rogues attacked a pack near the northern border." I gasped in horror. Jake nodded dejectedly slumping his shoulders.
"No one got killed but there was a few of injuries. My father wants me to return to the kingdom to sort things out and talk to the alphas about new security policies." Fair to say, I was disappointed. With his father demanding his return, Jake had to oblige.
"So, you have to leave?" I hindered my disappointment with a neutral expression but Jake saw right through me. He was having an inner struggle between staying here with me and returning back home. But he couldn't go against his father's wishes, he is his king after all.
"I have no choice." He sighed, looking at me apologetically.
I quickly pushed that thought out of my head.
"It's okay." But I didn't sound like it. It was far from okay. I felt selfish for wanting him to stay here but deep down, I knew he would leave someday.
Never coming back.
"I'm so sorry love. I have to go but it won't be long." The serenity of his voice made me sadly smile. I should be the one apologizing not him. It was I that ruined everything.
"You're planning on getting back? Why?"
"Because it'll be so damn hard to be away from you love." He stared at me lovingly, raising his hand to caress my cheek. My body seemed to react on its own, enjoying his display of affection. He appeared to be satisfied, the thin line of his lips spreading to a boyish grin.
"I need to get ready and pack." He lowered his hand and I nodded in understanding.
"Don't leave without –"
"I won't." He stated smiling before heading inside. I knew he wasn't going to leave without saying goodbye, but the uncertainty got the best of me. Hence, why I asked.
"Your highness." I turned around seeing a young maid standing with her head down.
"A lord from the north arrived and is asking to speak to you." I waited for her to continue.
"Yes?" I asked.
"His name is Luke."
