Chapter 29
Lola's POV
I watched silently as the reporters swarmed outside the castle, the gates being the only barrier keeping them from entering. The camera zoomed in showing a clearer view of the castle and the heavy amount of guards scattered outside
I had a feeling that a reporter or a photographer tried sneaking in but got caught along the way. Knowing my dad, he wouldn't have placed that much guards if something like that didn't actually occur. Or maybe it was because they were afraid of someone else getting kidnapped, both possibilities being equally logical
The male reporter appeared yet again on the TV screen speaking like how reporters usually speak, in an exaggerating manner. Or was he
Well I'm not the one to judge, I'm living pretty peacefully at the moment. Of course, minus the pressure of having my power taken away and used to destroy what my ancestors built, being locked up in here and last but not least, probably getting killed after Silas gets what he wants
No pressure at all
Did I forget to say that all the people I know would die as well? Yeah, add that to the list as well. So much for a peaceful mind
Staring at the walls for two consecutive days had me feeling depressed. Watching television is mostly what I have been doing, other than attempting to chat with the girl that enters my room about thrice per day
She's young, barely looking over seventeen years old and she's definitely not the brightest. I managed to make her crack a smile or two which let me tell you was quite a challenge, but she still wears a grim face
Luke finally began thinking straight and understood that the handcuffs were a dumb idea on his part. With every single window locked in this house as well as the men standing outside securing it, it was nearly impossible to escape.
Though there's something Luke told me that I can't stop thinking about. He said that he has a little surprise for me while wearing a wicked grin on his face. He didn't give away anything else, but with that glint in his eyes I directly knew that this surprise is as black as his soul.
Focusing once more on the tv, I sighed heavily hearing that the security circumstances of all kingdoms have turned rocky. The people were in frenzy, questioning who would dare step foot into the castle and kidnap the princess without anyone noticing
But they got it all wrong. Luke and his men didn't take me from the castle's ground, I went to them on my own free will. I still wonder who put the letters inside my bedroom, but I'm pretty sure that there's a traitor inside the castle.
"I feel useless." I crossed my arms over my chest and leaned against the headboard. Due to the power shield precisely made for me, I couldn't do anything useful
"Fūck this." Groaning, I grabbed a pillow and covered my face with it. Can life be any more tragic
Hearing the door creak open, I put the pillow aside and shot up rather quickly. A man wearing black shades was holding the door open for someone and by the click of heels, I knew it was a woman.
Those people should star in men in black, I mused. Why put shades on when there's no sun – and in a house?
My eyes popped out of their socks in total shock and the alert signals in my head beeped red
No, it can't be
Dressed in a pair of black stilettoes and a simple pencil skirt was Vera. She looked satisfied with the reaction she got from me as her smirk widened. Silent and shocked, I couldn't relate things. She was kidnapped a week ago, and right now she's here standing in all her bitch glory.
"Surprised?" She raised an eyebrow, venom dripping from her mouth.
"For a person kidnapped, you sure know how to dress up." I said dryly, narrowing my eyes. She let out a laugh, totally fake if you ask me, and stared at me with detest
"Such a naïve girl." She faked sympathized taking a step forward
"I still don't understand how you got Jake to fall in love with you, you're too dumb for his liking." She tesked shaking her head mockingly.
"You filthy –"
"I advise you to keep that pretty little tap of yours sealed. After all, I can have you thrown into one of the cells with a snap of my fingers." She grinned, taking few short steps so that she stood in the middle of the room
I eyes her cautiously, and as much as I wanted to give her a piece of my mind, I kept my mouth shut because the last thing I wanted right now is to rot in there
But then she started laughing, actually laughing like the crazy bitch she is. It was her way of payback, I hurt her so she wants to hurt me. I took away her prince charming so she wants to take away my life
That's when Luke made his grand entrance, looking between me and Vera like he just won a prize. He tugged his lips upward in a disgusting smile and made his way to stand next to her
"What do you think about my surprise?" He smirked
"Shitty."
"I was hoping for a brighter word." You ain't getting one you bastard, I wanted to yell but bit my lip instead
"What's going on?" I demanded and stood on my feet seeing Luke and Vera glance at each other
"I'm disappointed princess, by now you should've at least gotten an idea." He folded his arms.
"It was all part of the plan. When I first knew that Vera was going to be Jake's chosen, I didn't hesitate to get in touch with her. I offered her a deal which was very hard to resist, and she accepted."
I could feel my heart beating a million miles per second and my face paled
"Part of the deal was providing me with all necessary information about the royal families and when you came a long things got at its best. I knew you were the gravity controller all along but I wanted the perfect opportunity to make my move. You should thank your precious prince for that, he saved me a lot of work."I wanted to smack the hell out of Luke, remove that nasty smirk of his face and strangle him until he turns fifty shades of purple. Whereas Vera, I already did enough damage by burning her hand. Speaking of which, I stared at her hands and was absolutely stunned that no burn traces were there
"The perks of being a werewolf, you heal super-fast." She raised her brow giving me one of her infamous sickening smiles
"What do you mean by I should thank Jake for this?" I adverted my attention to Luke, ignoring Vera's existence. The evil glint in his eyes returned, having brought up a topic of his interest
"Vera's disappearance was for a reason, princess. Not knowing the hidden passage ways in your enemy's kingdom is a disadvantage, so stepping foot into the castle wouldn't go unnoticed. I wanted you to be somewhere I know every corner off, so your dear father's castle was the perfect choice since I have a couple of spies there." He stated.
"And you made Vera get out of there so that Jake sends me back home. You wanted a place you can sneak your threatening letters into." I voiced out my thoughts, getting angrier by the moment
"So you're not as dumb as you look like." I grinded my teeth at Vera's snippy remark. But I wasn't going to let her see me affected with the bullshit she just said, not at all
I'm not a fragile girl, I'm the princess of the demons and witches' kingdom. No one insults me and gets away with it.
"At least I'm not the one that was so desperate to get into Jake's pants just for power, so if anyone's dumb in this room, it would be you." I retorted.
The look on her face was priceless. Mouth agape and eyes wide blaring with anger, she growled loudly clenching her fists. She wanted to pounce, I know she did, but Luke's hand locked around her wrists kept her tame
"Werewolves are also known for their strength Vera, not just their fast healing. And letting Luke keep you by his side like a lost puppy is just so sad. Not only are you weak, you're also pathetic." I smiled smugly, hiding the rage pulsing through my body.
I pushed my limits to the extreme, the deadliness in Luke's orbs made me swallow uneasily. I was shoved against the wall, Luke's fingers roughly grazing into my flesh. His grip was too tight, I put my hand on his and tried pushing him away.
I felt like I was breathing in my last breath of air until his hold on my neck loosened and I was dropped on the floor. Putting a hand on my neck, I coughed feeling the tears brimming my eyes
"I've been too lenient with that foolish mouth of yours." He hissed. I couldn't see his face since I was looking at the floor.
"Vera, I think it's time for Lola to know what being a prisoner means." I sucked in a sharp breath hearing the threat in his tone.
"Kelvin." The sound of footsteps echoed.
"Yes my king." Kelvin approached Luke, not sparing me a second glance.
"Put the princess in a cell, she needs to learn her place." I glared at him with complete hatred. The next thing I knew was getting lifted up roughly and taken down the corridors. I needed to understand why this man was working with Luke, what is he getting out of this entire thing.
"Why are you doing this?" I asked hopelessly, noticing the way his eyebrows shot up in surprise.
Maybe this will work.
"Luke is an evil man that aims to nothing but destruction and killing millions of lives. Why are you helping him?" I whispered, lowering my voice so that no one can hear.
He took out a key lock from the inside of his pocket and inserted it into the lock, slamming the door open with his foot. He didn't reply but continued on dragging me into the darkness.
"Has he lured you with money? Or was it power?" The way his grip on my arm tightened had me mentally grinning. I hit a nerve.
"We've been hiding for long enough and it's time to claim our rightful position in this world. If it's on the behalf of innocent lives, then so be it." His emotionless tone left me biting my lip as my heart sank. I thought he was just working with Luke for some sort of a deal like Vera has done.
But he's one of them too.
He opened the cell's door and pushed me inside before locking it up and leaving, the click of his steps fading away. If it weren't for that torch of light, I would've been in complete darkness. Hugging my knees to my chest, I rested my cheek against them letting a tear trail down my face.
Will Jake come for me? Of course he will.
But the question is, will he be here on time?
I hope so, I really do.
