Chapter 23 - Alexander
Before I knew it, everything had turn black. I had one person on my mind.
Chloe.
I reached my arms into the thick black fog. I didn’t feel anybody. “Chloe!” I started screaming her name.
I formed a crystal sword ready to attack. I heard her scream Dakotas name, I quickly looked up to where I heard her voice coming from. I called her name again.
A gust of air blew by, pushing most of the fog away, I looked behind me and saw that Dakota was the one who did it.
I looked back up to the sky and saw that there were two dragons, a man on one had just blew powder in Chloe’s face. I saw her head drop down. She was unconscious.
Shit.
This is not good.
Dustin through a lightening rod at the dragon beside him, it went down easy.
But we both knew we couldn’t risk Chloe’s life like that. we couldn’t throw a rod at the dragon holding her.
“Dakota, use your wind to blow them closer to me!” I yelled to Dakota.
If I could get them closer, I could attack with my sword.
He nodded his head and he started to push them down, he got them down some, but the dragon was fighting so hard to go up.
As they got closer, I could see that Chloe was bleeding.
I slashed at the air, but I still was not close enough. I looked around to see if there was anything, I could use to get myself closer. SWISH.
In a blink there was a blond headed guy in front of me. “Here let me throw you up!” he yelled. I nodded hoping he could throw me high enough.
He grabbed me and with a big push I was air born, slicing through the air. When I got close enough, I sliced the dragon’s leg that had a hold of Chloe. It let out a horrible screech in pain. While free falling I grabbed Chloe and held her close, making it where she was on top and I would take the hit from the ground.
I held her close and closed my eyes.
If I died protecting her, then I would have fulfilled my oath to her. That is all a warrior can hope for.
I felt the ground hit my back. I gasped losing my breath. I refused to let her go.
But just like a horrible carnival ride, we were flung back into the air.
Oh, sweet hell what is this?
I held onto her tighter, trying hard to keep her above me. This time when we hit the ground there was a bounce but nothing to bad. A bounce? I felt confused. I took in a deep breath; I hadn’t realized I had been holding my breath the whole time. I opened my eyes and was very shocked by what I was looking at…
“Marshmallow?” I asked mostly to myself. I had no idea what just happened. Dakota was standing next to us, and so was the blond headed man. Dakota shrugged, “it was the first thing that came to my mind that would be soft for you two to land on.”
He was right. That saved us.
“Thank you.” I said
“Let me take her.” The blonde man was reaching for Chloe. I looked at him for a moment. I have no idea who he is. No chance was I going to let him take her.
“pass.” I said to him. He didnt look shocked.
“I figured as much, my name is Jacen, I am her friend. And by the looks of things, her wounds are deep. As you know, witches don’t heal as quickly as vampires. Even without my help, chances are she won’t heal from that gash alone.” He looked towards her shoulder that still had a dragon claw in it. I quickly looked up; the fog was gone. And so were the dragons. Damn. We didn’t kill them. They would be back.
Now my priority was to get Chloe back to health. I saw up with her in my arms, I gently pulled the claw out and tossed it onto the ground. The blood was coming out faster now.
Jacen didn’t ask again. He ripped her from my arms and in a blink ran inside the house. I jumped to my feet and followed him inside.
I saw them in the floor, he was covered in her blood. He bit his wrist and let the blood drip into her mouth.
“Come on Chloe.” He begged. Did he care for her? The way he was holding her in his lap told me he does.
I noticed the cuts on her arm was almost fully healed and she had stopped bleeding. His blood had healed her.
But she still was not waking up.
Jacen looked up at Dakota, “why isn’t she waking up?” he did not look good. His blonde hair was a mess and there was tear streaks on his face.
“Maybe it is because of the powder his blew on her?” I asked remembering the memory.
Dakota looked at me with fear in his eyes
“We are going to need to find a fae.”
