Chapter 28- Alexander
I was pacing the floor back and forth. I don’t like being so far from her. I am oath bound to her and he just snatches her away. I kicked myself. Why didn’t I go after her? Dakota was in the study in the palace trying to find a cure for Jacen. Which I don’t see why we are helping him. Chloe is better we should just stake him and call it a day.
Blood suckers disgust me.
Being the father of all blood suckers makes me like him even less.
What makes this worse is I can feel her feelings, at least the strong ones.
Or at least I could hours ago. It is like everything is smothered in darkness. I should be able to mind link with her. I should be able to feel her. but there is nothing. No thoughts. No emotions. Nothing just darkness.
I walked up the stairs towards the study. Pacing isn’t helping, maybe opening a book will help.
When I walked into the study, Dakota was deep in thought in a book he had found. He was so lost in thought that he didn’t even notice that I walked in.
I walked to the far wall; it was full of leather-bound books.
“Come on, which book do I need?” I asked while gently rubbing my fingers along the spine of the books. I need a book that will tell us how to cure a vampire who’s lost his humanity from dust poisoning.
“Ouch!” that book just zapped me! I grabbed it off the shelf. As I looked down at it, its lettering was clearly not English. I would guess also not any normal language; it was made of weird symbols.
Dakota snatched the book from my hands. “Unless they taught you the Norse alphabet in warrior school, this book will be of no use to you.”
“Norse?” I asked. No wonder I had no idea, that isn’t a language I know.
“Yes Norse, Runic alphabet mainly known in Viking times. Runes have their own special powers and abilities. But I would say all witches have lost their rune abilities. I will say, I am surprised my sister even has this book. Where did she get it?” he was looking over the book feeling the engraved lettering in the leather.
Dakota looked at me, “this book may just have all the answers we are looking for. The problem is, I do not know anyone who can read it.” he signed in defeat.
“What about that old lady that used to live in the tree?” I asked.
Dakota looked at me like I was stupid.
“Growing up we all heard the stories about the silver haired witch that was from Viking era.” I shook my head trying to remember the stories my mother used to tell me as a kid.
“something about her life was tied to her one true love, but another witch put a curse on him, freezing him and hiding him away. Since he couldn’t die while frozen in ice, she also couldn’t die until he did. So, she moved into the tree at the base of the mountain.” I felt proud of myself for remembering the story. Dakota on the other hand was not as impressed.
He rolled his eyes, “so your suggestion is to find a mythical lady from a story from your mother? I feel like if there was an immortal witch out there, we would know about her or at least heard about her.”
I sighed.
He was right, if she were real, I am sure someone would know something about her.
I flopped down into the dark red leather seat that was in the study.
I just want to get everything to normal, whatever that even means.
I know Jacen wouldn’t hurt her, but I saw the way he looks at her. I know most of my feelings towards her is because I am oath bound to her. I feel it deeply in my soul. I need to be around her.
Suddenly my body started to feel like it was on fire, I clenched my hand to my chest and started gasping for air. Something was wrong, really wrong. I started seeing images of Chloe and Jacen in some type of club. She looked terrified. “Chloe” I gasped out. Like she could hear me call to her, she looked at me and screamed out my name. “CHLOE!” I screamed out. I must get to her.
I tried to stand up and fumbled over my own two feet. Dakota was trying to help me balance myself.
Dakota looked at me alarmed. I just looked back at him, “I think Chloe is in danger. I saw her and Jacen at some type of club or something.”
“Club Ecstasy.” Dakota said. He seemed full of confidence.
“How do you know that?” I asked.
“That is the supernatural hang out. All types of supernatural’s come and go. They hand out silver powder to get everyone high.” He said.
“Silver powder?” I asked. Never heard of it.
“Yes, better term would be demon ecstasy or silver pill. It is a mixture of demon blood and vampire venom.”
I was still feeling a bit queasy from the sudden vision, it is something you are taught about but you don’t truly know til you experience it yourself.
Dakota went back to the wall and started surfing through the books again.
Watching him, I noticed he grabbed a leather book with a single tree engraved in it. By the looks I’d say it’s very old and done by hand.
“What is that?” I asked as I got up and walked next to him.
He looked at me and smiled. “our family tree. Well witches family tree. It’s spelled so when a which is born and named, it appears in this book, when they die it records it. So theoretically, we are looking for a old witch who has yet to die.” He looked at the book and started flipping through the pages.
“How did you come across this book?” I asked also curious if there was more then one but not wanting to ask him.
“It’s usually passed down to the next high priestess, but when Ava passed the palace was sealed so no one could enter to retrieve it. And now it belongs to Chloe.”
“I think I found her!” he excitedly said pointing at a name in the book. “ Margery Bishop?” I asked. “yes shes over 5000 years old and still alive!”
He pushed the books off the table and started grabbing ingredients.
“What are you doing now?” I asked him shocked that he trashed the room.
“A summoning spell. We need her to ask her for help!”
