Chapter 7 - Chloe

I woke up to a knock on my door, “Miss Chloe, Celest is here to see you.” I sat up, that must be the witch Jacen brought to train me. “okay, getting ready.” I ran to my dresser grabbing out skinny jeans and a flowery t- shirt. I threw my hair into a bun and slid my converses on. I opened my bedroom door and to my surprise Jacen was standing there. “good morning,” he smiled. “Morning,” I nodded.
“Celest is excited to meet you.” He held his arm out to me, I refused to take it. “I’m sure” I said as I started walking forward. “Do you even know where you are going?” he asked me, walking beside me. “I do not, care to show me?” I asked him. He started walking before me, I followed beside him. “Celest will show you a lot. I hope she can help you.” I could feel him looking down at me, but I didn’t want to look at him back. Honestly, I kept thinking about Liam and I didn’t know why. He had attacked me, but I felt bad for him.
I couldn’t think about him right now, I needed help over my powers before I hurt anyone. “well I’ll leave you to it then.” He said before walking away from the door. I took a deep breath and opened the door. When I opened the door, it was a large, well lit room with shiny hardwoods floors and targets on the wall. In the middle of the room stood a very beautiful woman, she looked like she was in her 20’s. she had long caramel colored hair and her skin was an olive color. She was so beautiful.
She smiled a huge smile at me, “the famous Chloe” she had a European accent. “that’s me” I clapped my hands on my legs. “May I see your mark?” she asked. I hesitated, “sure”. I turned my back to her and pulled my shirt up so she could see it. “I have never seen a mark like that before” she said, her eyes wide. “I’ve heard that a lot lately.” I shrugged; I did not see the big deal over it.
“Alright then, let’s find out what your abilities are.” She said, she threw her hands up and instantly multiple tables full of items appeared. “what?” I asked shocked. “all of it was here when you stepped in, I have a flare for the dramatics and wanted to see your face.” She gave me a cocky smile. “alight, well let’s get this over with, how does it work.” I asked her. “well usually a witch is gifted with one, sometimes two special powers, such as some can freeze time, levitate items, some command a nature element.” I was getting excited, I had real powers. “which am I?” I asked her. “Well we won’t know till we try, generally when witches become 8 years old, we perform this on them, just to be sure there aren’t any hidden talents.”
I walked up to the first table; it was covered in white feathers. I looked down at them, gently stroking one to feel its softness. “Make them levitate.” Celeste said standing next to me. I out reached my arms, nothing happened. “you have to do more than that, with children they learn words to speak. You are more than a regular witch, your ranking on your back tells me that you need no such commands. Close your eyes and vision what you want, and then let it flow from your body.” I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, with my arms still stretched over the feathers I envisioned them floating upwards. I started to feel something tickle my hands, when I opened my eyes there was feathers floating everywhere.
I smiled so big; this is incredible. I cannot believe this is happening. The room looked amazing with all the feathers everywhere. “So, you can levitate” Celeste said smiling. “now command them to drop.” I envisioned them all falling, and they did. “that was easy” I said, I was beaming with happiness. “alright It was a good one, now to the next.” She said walking to the table next to it. “now these next 5 challenges are nearly impossible, there has only been a handful of witches to ever be able to command the elements.”
“why is that?” I asked, it seems like controlling elements would be easy for a witch, but then again, I am new to all of this so what did I know. “witches can ask for the elements help with things, like cleansing and doing spells. We really weren’t meant to be controllers of them. But every now and then a witch pops up that can control one.” We stood in front of a vase of water. “just like before, see it in my mind?” I asked. She nodded, I put my right hand in front of the vase, I envisioned it coming out of the vase like a snake.
The water shook a little, I envisioned it again. This time the water rose out of the vase and into the air. I started swirling the water around the room. I was laughing and smiling. This must be the happiest day of my life. I always wanted powers, and here I was with them. Celeste looked like she was happy too. I walked back to the vase to put it back in it. “wait” Celeste said, “freeze it”
“freeze it?” I asked more as a statement then a question. “I thought you said witches usually only get two abilities, what would make you think I could do more than two?” I asked her. “I told you, your ranking tells me that you have more than two abilities.” Now I was curious, what are the rankings and how did they work? I did as she commanded, and the water froze. It fell and hit the ground, when it did its shattered ice across the floor.
“That is two elements Chloe!” she said with excitement. “yeah it is, and I’m pretty sure I have already done fire.” I told her remembering the burning roses. “when did this happen?” she asked concern on her face. “this morning I thought ‘these flowers should burn’ and they caught fire. Also, right before that I got upset and the walls in my room started to crack.” I looked at her while she silently took everything in.
“Chloe, there has never been anyone in history to ever be in command of all of the elements, plus you can do levitation. I want to see to what extent your powers go.” The way she smiled at me made me feel uneasy. She put her hands in mine while she smiled at me, at that same instant I started to feel lightheaded. “Celeste, I think I need to- “I stopped being able to say words the world was spinning so fast and fading out. I saw Jacen and Liam as everything went black the last thing I heard was, “I have to get you out of this vampire den”.
