Chapter 25

Vidhi's POV



I went to the restroom and pulled myself together. After being calm and composed again, I went back to join them at our table.

They all were talking and I opened my phone and kept playing with it mechanically but didn't look at him even though I wanted to draw the outlines of his arrogant but handsome face in my mind.

After some time bhai got up to leave. I got up and gave Shubh a curt nod just like he had given in the beginning and I turned on my heel.

We all went outside where our cars were parked. Just then bhai got a call from Gautam Bhai. He started talking to him.

Bhai and bhabhi got engrossed in the conversation. I was looking at them. How lucky they were. They looked so much in love and extremely happy.

Just then I felt that Shubh came near me and said, " Um... thanks Vidhi, for everything, but I can't take these gifts. Please take them back. "

" I got you the gifts because it is your birthday. You can do whatever you want to do with them. They are of no use to me."

" But I can't accept them. It is not proper. I thought they were from Sandy. Please I can't take them. They are too much. It doesn't look good. " he said and extended that bag towards me.

" Throw them if you don't want," I said without looking at him.

" Vidhi please return them. " He said.

I took them and kept them near a trash can which was not too far off. I could not throw them in it as I had bought them with so much love.

I opened the door of the car and slipped into the back seat without saying anything.

I opened my phone and started reading one of my favourite books. I read the first line over and over again. But still, I didn't know what I read.

I could feel his eyes on me. I didn't want him to know that I was affected by his behaviour. I knew I made a mistake by slapping him once. But I apologized, he can not keep behaving like that.

Bhai and bhabhi slipped into the car and we drove towards our home.

I had thought that may be he would realise that he hurt me a lot and would call me at least once. But the very next day he went to Delhi and cut himself off the entire world and just studied.

I was hurt, I wanted to meet him, to irritate him again as I missed him a lot. But he was busy with his exams. I tried to concentrate on my studies. It was the last year of my hotel management course. As suggested by my Bhai, I was learning to be a bit more sensible and mature.

After 3 months...

It has been almost 3 months after bhai's wedding. They had gone on almost a month-long vacation. And then they got busy with the hospital and adjusting being married.

I had not seen Shubh for the last 3 months as well. I went to Delhi once and wanted to meet him at least once, but he was too busy to meet anyone. I heard that he had topped in India in his MBA exam.

I wanted to meet him to congratulate him but I was wondering if he wanted to meet me as I was not sure that he forgave me for slapping him.

Anyways I had some work in Delhi so I had to stay there for a few days. I planned to surprise Bhai and bhabhi.

I reached Delhi and pressed the doorbell of their home. It was a holiday... so I hoped they were at home only.

The door opened and I was shocked.

Oh God !!! My favourite cousin Manu, I mean Manyata was standing there.

She was almost my age so we were quite close.

I shrieked and hugged her very hard. Even she was so excited to see me.

" What are you doing here??" I asked with a big grin.

" I am staying with Bhai sa for the time being. " She smiled and took one of my bags.

" I had some work in Delhi for a few days, so I came. It is so good to meet you. We are going to have fun. " I said with excitement.

We both came inside. She was so excited. She called up bhabhi to tell them that I had come. Bhabhi said that she would come as soon as possible.

Bhabhi came within 30 minutes and she came to our room hearing our excited voices.

" Surprise bhabhi !!!! " I shouted and bhabhi was very excited to see me as well. We all were so happy.

Bhabhi called Bhai to tell that I was here so he should come home soon if he could. I knew bhai sa would have been excited to come home.

" Vikram wants to come right now but he has to do a surgery in an hour. "

" It's ok bhabhi, I will wait for Bhai. But right now I am very hungry, let's have food. " I said and three of us had a very tasty lunch prepared by her and talked for hours.

I wanted to ask her about Shubh but could not start as Manu was also there and I didn't know how to start his topic.

It was around 4 PM and I had to go for a group presentation at the prestigious hotel. Our institute had arranged a tour for us to see how the best hotels manage everything. I reached there and once our presentation was over and I was coming back, I saw Shubh entering the hotel.

Oh my God! He was looking so handsome in his formal suit that I even forgot to blink. I kept standing there.

He was led to one of the tables. I could not control myself as I wanted to meet him. I had barely taken a step when I saw a beautiful girl clad in a sexy business suit, went towards him.

She said hello and smiled widely to him. He was happy to see her and she even gave him a light hug. I felt some kind of pangs in me. I just wanted to pull her out of his embrace.

My excitement had dampened now. So he was really busy all these days. The girl looked much more sophisticated, elegant and mature just like him. Why would he care about someone childish, immature, clumsy and irritating girl like me?

My eyes were moist as I was not able to control my feelings. I didn't know that I would feel so bad to see him with someone else.

I saw that he was smiling at her. He looked so handsome... But he had not smiled at me like that since so long.

Why was I feeling so bad??

I kept standing there looking at him. They had coffee and then they got up and he smiled at her but the girl hugged him again.

He smiled politely and they both started walking towards the door. She asked him to meet her again the next day. He nodded and left.

I felt as if someone had broken my heart into pieces. I came back home.

I was feeling better being with Manu as we had always been very close and I loved being with bhabhi.

Three of us were enjoying each other's company when the doorbell rang, we thought that it must be bhai and Manu went to open the door.

After a few minutes, Manu came with a smiling Shubh following her with some carry bags and boxes in his hand.

I was stunned. I kept standing there looking at him. I was dying to meet him a few hours ago. But I was feeling some kind of a pain in my heart now.

The moment bhabhi saw him her face lit up and she ran towards him to welcome him with open arms.

He was looking where to keep all the stuff he was holding, so Manu took them and placed on the dining table.

He hugged bhabhi and kissed on her forehead. They both were so happy to see each other.

I didn't know what I was feeling... I was surprised, happy and sad all at the same time but was looking at him continuously.

Bhabhi caught his hand and pulled him in as they both were still standing in the door frame.

The moment Shubh saw me, he stopped in the mid-track all of a sudden. He seemed to be shocked. He gulped visibly and looked shocked to see me there. I was very sure he would not have come if only he knew that I was here.

There was so much tension between us. I wish I could vanish from here. All the excitement to see and meet him was gone.
