Chapter 54

Shubh's POV



It was morning and only one day was left. Today we were going to have haldi function and all the men were coming from her family as well as Vikram Ji and Sandhya had to come as she was my sister. I would have the Haldi first and then she would have it.

We had the ceremony and everyone applied turmeric paste on my face and body. Sandhya and Vikram Ji kept pulling my leg.

I went to take a bath but made a video call to Vidhi.

She picked up the phone on the first ring, " Hello !! "

" Hi !! See what they have done to me. " I said and she started laughing.

I just loved her laughter it was like the best Jingle in the world.

" You are looking very handsome as usual. But now I have to go they all are waiting for me and bhabhi. "

" I wish I could come too. Though Sahil said that he asked Manu to get a recording of it. "

" No... why ?? Now manu will tease me like hell. "

" Even Sandy is pulling my leg. She has changed a lot since she married your brother. "

" Don't say anything to my bhabhi... She is the best. "

" Hmmm, she is... Just getting naughty like you and your brother. "

" Wait I will tell him you called him naughty. "

" Go and tell him. He is way too cool to mind that. As is it I am not scared of him. I just respect him a lot. He is just like an elder brother to me... No !! I mean brother-in-law. " she laughed at that.

" Bye got to go. "

And after that she had her Haldi and as promised Sahil sent me the recording of that. She was looking so pretty. And then she also went for her bath.

They had Mehandi function and all the girls and women were busy there.

It was evening and we had our traditional Sangeet where old ladies sang traditional folk songs Banraa banri ( groom and bride songs )

After that, we all had a party separately for men and women. Everyone, especially Vikram ji's friends Gautam, Sagar, Samar and Sahil, kept saying naughty things to me. I was getting so shy that It seemed that I won't survive till my wedding.

Women were having their own party.

It was late and our parents told us to sleep early as we had some rituals which were to be performed early next n the morning while some older member of the family had to keep awake for another ritual called Raatjaga.

I called her and she picked up the phone. But there were many voices.

" Hello ???"

" Hello, jiju... " It was Manu and Shruti. They started laughing.

" Oh hi... How are you?? " I felt a bit disappointed.

" We are good... How are you?? "

" Good ... Can I talk to her?? "

" Her?? Sandhya bhabhi?? Sure jiju... " Manu said and shruti laughed.

" No... Vidhi. "

" Sorry ... You can't talk to her. "

" Why ??"

" She is busy... "

" In what??"

" Tending to her Mehandi. She can't hold the phone. But I can hold it for you if you want. "

" Oh, no it's ok... Bye, good night. "

" Wait...wait. I am giving the phone to her. "

" Hello... "

" Hi... So you have Mehandi on our hands now?? "

" Hmmm "

" Only one day left beautiful tomorrow by this time we would be getting married. "

" Yeah. "

Vidhi's POV

Wedding day



The rising sun cast a rosy hue across the morning sky. Golden fingers of sunlight lit up the scene.

It was the most beautiful morning. I was feeling very elated. I got ready and followed all the rituals. And finally, it was time to get ready for my wedding. My bhabhi came to meet me while I was getting ready. She hugged me and said that I was already looking so pretty and that Shubh might forget to breathe only.

I blushed at that. She informed me that she would have to go for the Sehrabandi and Ghurchadhi ceremonies.

I just nodded and smiled and she went away. Within an hour, I was ready.

There was a knock on the door and Shruti opened it. My parents were there. They came inside and became very emotional. They hugged me and my mom got very emotional while dad kept looking at me.

" Dad ?? "

" How and when did you grow up?? You were my little princess and today your prince charming is coming to get married to you. You will be his queen now... "

" But I will still be your princess papa," I said and hugged him he patted my back but his eyes were moist.

" Why do we have to send our daughters away ??? Why can't they stay with us all the time?? " Dad was so emotional right now, I had never seen him like that.

Just then bhai came in and told mom and dad that baarat has reached quite near. Mom and dad nodded and went away after hugging and kissing my forehead.

Bhai was looking at me as if he was mesmerized. He was smiling but his eyes started getting glassy.

" Bhai ?? Are you ok?? " I asked and he nodded and smiled.

" Hmmm... I was just recalling the day I saw you for the first time. You were sleeping near mom and then you looked at me with your beautiful round eyes and smiled.

I was a proud brother at that moment. You became the most pretty and most precious thing in my life. Now you have grown up so much that you are going to get married. I am happy as well as sad. Now, I know how Shubh must have felt at our wedding. I am feeling the same. "

" Bhai... " I didn't know what to say. So I hugged him. He held me very tight.

" I wish I could keep you with me. But I know that Shubh will take care of you as well. He is a wonderful person. I like him and hence I permitted him to marry you. But I will always be your elder brother. Don't ever hesitate to claim that right over me. Nothing will ever change between us. Ok?? " He said.

" Hmmm... now stop it, you are making me cry. I would ruin my makeup. "

" Ok ok... fix your make-up your prince, Shubhashish Singh Shekhawat is coming to get his clumsy beauty. We don't want to scare him with your horrible make-up. It will be difficult to find another one like him. "

" No bhai I don't want another one. This one is best. " I said and he nodded.

" I agree... now I must go and welcome them. "

" Where is bhabhi?? "

" Her parents insisted her to come with them. So I must go and find my beautiful guest and tend to her needs, after all, she is the groom's sister. " He said and winked at me. We both laughed and then he kissed me on the cheek and went out.



Shubh's POV



Finally, the day when we would finally and officially be husband and wife had arrived.

I got ready and my mom, mamiji and Sandy kept fussing over me. I even told them that I was a grown-up man and could get ready on my own but they paid no heed. They kept arranging my sherwani, the long pearl and ruby necklace which men were during their weddings.

" Oh my god !! You are looking like a prince Shubh... " Sandhya said and mom nodded. They took me for the Sehrabandi.

After all the rituals like Sehrabandi and Gurhchadhi, finally, the baraat departed.

We reached there and after a huge welcome, we went inside.

Sandhya and Vikram Ji went inside to get her and after some time they came back with Vidhi. It seemed that everything and everyone else seemed to fade away as I could see only her.

She was looking so beautiful in her wedding dress, coming towards me slowly with her eyes looking downwards. I was just mesmerized with her beauty.

She came on the stage and finally, she looked at me shyly. My heart started getting unsettled as if it wanted to get out of my chest. I placed one of my hand on my chest to hold my heart.

I gave her flowers which she took and smiled. Everyone who was gathered around us was teasing and smiling at us.

Sandhya came with a beautiful platter which had two rings on them.

Rings???

Wasn't she supposed to get flower garlands?? We were getting married or engaged???

What was it??
