Chapter 13: Encounter Over a Meal
"Okay, I'll come to pick you up."
Timothy lives in Emerald Bay, a high-end community by the lake that's quite elegant. You can take leisurely walks around the lake in the evenings. He bought a two-bedroom condo there.
When her items arrived, Timothy helped Ursula organize them. Ursula went to the supermarket to buy groceries and made a simple lunch of three dishes and a soup.
Timothy ate with great satisfaction and said with a smile, "My girlfriend's cooking is amazing. No more takeout will be needed."
Ursula smiled and responded, "I guarantee you’ll gain weight in no time!"
Both busy with their work but with similar routines, they lived a warm and quiet life. Occasionally, Ursula would go back to the store, she would help the shop assistants organize the storage, and when Timothy came, they'd go shopping together.
Soon, everyone in the store knew Ursula had a boyfriend, who’s not only good-looking but also a mighty trader, and they were all envious, begging Ursula for treats.
Being generous, Timothy brought Delbourg Calais chocolates for Ursula to share with her colleagues, drawing cheers and thanks, with wishes for Ursula and himself to grow old together.
Ursula found it amusing and couldn't help but say as they left, "You didn't have to be so generous, right?"
"It was a gift from a client, and I've got several boxes left," Timothy said with a laugh, gently patting Ursula's head. "Rest assured, no one else holds the same place in my heart as you do, my girlfriend."
Ursula smiled back at him.
That evening, Timothy said he'd take Ursula to try Alaskan King Crab, driving them to the western suburbs.
The crab restaurant was on the famous Lotus Lake, where lotuses were blooming everywhere, their fragrance wafting through the air. Timothy, being good friends with the owner, got them a spot in the open air.
Unexpectedly, upon arrival with the waiter to their outdoor table, they spotted Dylan and Matthew.
"Hey, Ursula?" Dylan came over, shaking his cellphone playfully, and said with a chuckle: "I was just about to call you to join us for some crab. How coincidental that you and Timothy are here too!"
"Yeah, quite a coincidence," Timothy replied, pulling Ursula into his arms.
"What are you doing, she's not my girlfriend, why the tight hug?" Dylan joked with a smile on his face, pulling Ursula to his side: "Come on, Ursula, let's sit at our table!"
Left with little choice, Ursula allowed herself to be led to their table. As they walked over, her gaze inadvertently met Matthew's. His piercing look sent a shiver down her spine, causing her to nervously look away.
Indeed, how could she easily forget him after just two weeks?
Dylan sat next to Ursula, mentioning his craving for crab and how he took advantage of Matthew's free time to invite him over, while Timothy joined in with a laugh, "That's right, Ursula loves crab too, so I brought her here too."
"Really?" Dylan was surprised, looking at Ursula. "But Ursula, didn't you say you don't like eating crab?"
"She's never disliked it, it's more about the crabs being hard to crack and messy," Timothy explained, thoughtfully placing a napkin on Ursula's lap. "With Matthew helping you eat, you wouldn't realize that."
Dylan rolled his eyes dramatically at Timothy: "Hey, Timothy, if you keep doing this, believe me, I'll steal Ursula from you."
"Alright, you two, stop it." Ursula said.
Throughout the exchange, Matthew remained silent, his thin lips pursed as he quietly sat by.
