Chapter 40: Dapeng or Dapeng
If not for that one incident, Matthew might have been married to Dylan by now.
A man approached Ursula with an overconfident grin. "Excuse me, miss, May I?"
Ursula, slightly annoyed, replied, "I'm with someone, thanks."
"But how could anyone leave a beauty like you alone?" he persisted, trying to charm her.
Ursula resisted rolling her eyes. This guy was a walking cliché, was he taking flirting tips from cheesy love songs?
"I have a boyfriend," she said firmly, a polite brush-off.
Undeterred, he ran a hand through his hair and flashed a gold-toothed grin, thinking he was irresistible.
If Ursula had been drinking, she would've done a spit-take. His fashion sense was a disaster.
"You need a better man," he boasted, clearly considering himself quite the catch.
He imagined spending the night with her, but Ursula was not impressed. She repeated, "My boyfriend's coming back in any second."
He didn't catch the hint but introducing himself as Raymond Lewis, Vice President of Isaac Martin Film and TV, he winked. "Need a break in show biz? I'm your guy."
Ursula had heard of the company, but this guy? He seemed like a rich kid playing executive.
She stepped back, "No interest, but thanks."
She looked around for Timothy. What was taking him so long with the juice?
Raymond's ego was bruised by her repeated rejections. He couldn't place her family name, and his temper flared. "Don't dismiss a good opportunity." he snapped.
Ursula turned to leave, but Raymond reached out for her.
Suddenly, a firm hand caught Raymond's wrist. "What are you doing?" came Matthew's cool voice.
Raymond, recognizing Matthew, panicked. Matthew wasn't a corporate giant, but he had legal clout and the Jing family's backing.
"Let go," Raymond hissed, but he knew he was outmatched.
Matthew released him, his silence was more intimidating than words.
Raymond shot them a spiteful look and stormed off, vowing revenge. But he slipped, crashed into a table, and wailed in pain.
Ursula noticed a wet spot on the floor and a half-empty glass in Matthew's hand. Did he...?
Before she could ponder further, Raymond was carried off, and the crowd assumed it was just an accident.
Timothy returned, concerned. "What's going on? Are you okay?"
Ursula reassured him, "Just a small incident."
Dylan, noticing the commotion and Matthew's presence, asked "What happened here?"
Matthew remained nonchalant, "Not sure." he replied.
