Chapter 11

Looking around my eyes landed on Cassia, who was already looking at me. I ignored her and turned Scarlet around so we could walk to her first class. “I’ll see you later.” I told her and she nodded before walking inside her own classroom.
My mind drifted to Haruna and I pulled out my phone to text her. I always checked up on her. Like me, she was never happy with being a vampire. All she wanted was to live a normal life. That was why we were coming to this stupid school. I was constantly worrying about her, she was weak and that scared me. She was too scared to drink real blood so she got herself used to drinking animal blood.
Animal blood made us weak, it made us slow in speed, our senses weren’t as heighten and we healed slowly. Our strength was there but barely. So that scared me, which was why I came to this school with her. I needed to be here to protect her. I had stopped drinking animal blood right when I realized how weak it made us, but Haruna didn’t want to stop. We weren’t allowed to drink human blood, one of father’s stupid rules. But I didn’t exactly care. I couldn’t allow myself to be weak.
Yeah, I’m in class.
I smiled and put my phone away. I walked in my first class and looked at Cassia. I noticed she wasn’t looking at me and that bothered me. I frowned, having no idea as to why it bothered me. I know I was supposed to be angry for what she had done to Scarlet but I didn’t really care. Scarlet deserved it. She was starting to annoy me as well. I was more shocked at the fact that she was able to land a few punches considering she was in fact a human and scarlet wasn’t.
I moved to sit behind Cassia and my thoughts kept on going back to her. ‘She’s beautiful, isn’t she.’ Abius said and I smiled. That I agreed on. The way she carried herself and stood her ground was actually very attractive. She was strong for a human and she sure had guts to come here and pretend otherwise. She was able to blend in due to everyone’s senses being so weak. But if she was to be discovered by my father, she’d be dead in seconds. I sighed and looked away from her, ever her back was attractive.
The class went by in a blur. I wasn’t even paying attention to anything that the teacher was saying. As soon as the bell went off, I got up and watched as Cassia moved pass the other students. She had decided to ignore me today and for some odd reason I didn’t like that and neither did Abius.

”This taste horrible.” Hann voiced to his sister, no longer speaking their native language as he wiped the excess blood from his mouth.
“That is because you’re drinking from a skunk.” Haruna joked, holding back her laugh as she looked up to meet her brother’s eyes.
“You had refused to let me drink from a bunny. I had no other choice.” He told her smirking and her face got serious again.
“That, big brother, is because bunnies are innocent creatures.” Haruna informed him, defending her reasons for making him leave the poor bunny alone.
“And squirrels are not, little sister?” He questioned, watching as his sister drank from an innocent squirrel.
“It was either I drank from a squirrel or a skunk. I was not going to drink from a skunk.” Hann laughed, cleaning the left over blood from his hands.
He stopped, looking down at his ring. It was a silver ring with a small white stone on it, the ring protected them from the sun. They all had the same ring which was created by the same woman that had turned them into the very monster they hated.
“It’s crazy, huh?” Hann looked up and noticed his sister looking at him. “That tiny ring is what allows us to walk in the sun.” She continued, seeing his confused face.
“Yeah, it is.” He answered back. While Hann and his sister continued talking, an arrow came flying from a distance and hit Haruna on the stomach. She gasped, looking at Hann as he stared at her shocked.
“Runa?” Hann yelled, snapping out of his shocked expression. He quickly got up and ran to her as she groaned in pain holding her stomach. He turned around and listened in on their surroundings.
“Show yourself!” He yelled angrily, hearing footsteps but wasn’t able to locate the direction it was coming from.
“Runa, come on. Stay with me.” Hann panicked, holding his sister who was on the verge of passing out. He continued looking around, but nothing. Another arrow was fired and it made contact with his left shoulder.
He groaned in pain, grabbing the arrow and yanking it out. Four man soon came out from hiding and charged at him with wooden stake and other weapons. Han grabbed one of the man by his neck and threw him to the nearest tree. The second man charged at him and managed to cut his stomach.
Hann touched his stomach and looked at his shoulder, confused as to why it hadn’t healed yet. The man he had thrown against the tree soon got up and stood next to the other three. “What do you want?” Hann yelled, gripping his bleeding stomach. He had no idea who those men were.
“You and your family dead.” One of the man answered, twirling his sword around and getting in a fighting stance before charging towards Hann.
Angrily, Hann grabbed him by the neck and bit down, draining him of blood. Hann looked down feeling his wounds closing up and smirked, letting the dead body fall limp on the ground.
The two other men angrily charged at Hann but one by one they fell to the ground. Their throats ripped off and blood surrounding them. Waiting to see if there were any others, Hann turned around and moved to his sister who was on the floor passed out. He picked her up and vamp speeded her back home.
