Chapter 12
• Cassia •
“Hey.” I turned around seeing Haruna and slightly smiled at her. Remembering my conversation with Kevin. If there was a cure for vampirism, Haruna would’ve been the first person I’d give it too.
“Hello.” I greeted, when she moved to stand next to me. “So, I’m not sitting at the table today.” I told her, grabbing my lunch. The same old chicken blood soup which I never ate. I was surprised nobody asked me why I wasn’t eating. I’m sure they noticed the food going untouched.
“Why not?” She questioned, grabbing her lunch as well and walking along side of me. Unlike me, she devoured hers. It was truly disgusting.
“Scarlet and Hann.” I answered, seeing them walking inside the cafeteria together. I really didn’t want to deal with them today. I wanted to go a day without getting annoyed or angry. Being near them did the exact opposite.
“Where will you sit then?” She asked and I shrugged looking around. I’m sure I’ll find somewhere else to sit. Even if I sat alone, which I really didn’t mind at all.
“I’ll figure it out. I’ll see you later though.” She nodded and walked to her table while I looked around once again. I noticed a girl sitting alone and I moved to go sit next to her. Hopefully she was ok with me sitting next to her.
“Hey.” She looked up at me confused so I smiled. Something about her seemed different. But I didn’t know what. I actually didn’t mind sitting down with her.
“I’m Cassia. Is it alright if I sit with you?” She nodded but didn’t say anything else. Did she not like socializing? Because I didn’t either. I was just doing this to blend in.
“What’s your name?” I asked, but she ignored me. Okay, understandable. She didn’t know me. But, she didn’t have to be rude. She went back to reading her book while I just stared at her. I really didn’t mean to stare at her, but there was something about her. She had naturally black curls and her skin was this beautiful chocolate brown color.
She looked up at me and I noticed her beautiful hazel eyes. Her eyes drifted down to my neck and then back at me. I kept my eyes on her, watching her every move. I didn’t know her after all.
“Nice necklace.” She said quietly and looked back down at her book. I reached to grab my necklace and tucked it under my shirt. It was a gift from my mother. She had given it to me after my 5th birthday. She claimed it was her grandmother’s, that’s why it looked so old. But I loved it, it was simple, just a silver pendant with a red stone attached to it. My phone vibrated and I looked down at it.
Are you okay over there?
I looked behind me and noticed Haruna looking towards me. Was she worried? Why would she be? I was perfectly fine. I didn’t have to deal with her brother and his pathetic girlfriend.
It’s better than sitting with Hann and Scarlet, so yeah. I’m okay.
I pressed sent and looked back at Haruna. Only she wasn’t the one looking at me now. Hann was, what was his problem now? Did he find me attractive as well? Was that why he was always staring at me? Ugh, I needed to know more about him so I can get out of here. His mysterious red eyes and his ability to read people was driving me crazy. Why couldn’t he just tell me. Tell me your deepest secrets!! I wish it was as simple as that.
“Nina.” I heard and I turned back to the girl and looked at her confused. “My name is Nina.” She repeated seeing my confused expression. That was so random. She can’t just randomly say her name when I’m not paying attention. It made me seem rude. Although, it was her fault for not telling me earlier when I had asked her. But her name was pretty and simple. I liked it.
“Ohh, It’s nice to meet you.” I told her extending my hand for her to shake. She placed her hand in mine and gasped, quickly pulling it away. What? Why did she do that? Did I have something in my hand? Was it gross and clammy? Was that why she gasped? I quickly wiped my hands down my pants and looked up at her.
“I’m sorry, I need to go.” I watched her get up and leave the table in a hurry. What was wrong? Was she able to tell that I was human? If so, why was she in such a hurry? Was she going to tell the principal? Oh my God. I looked around panicking and stopped, Hann was still looking at me and that made me uncomfortable. He had definitely seen the panic look on my face. Great! I got up and threw my soup out. I made my way out of the cafeteria and tried to follow after Nina but she was no where to be seen. Wow, she was fast. I turned around looking for her but was quickly pulled into a room I’ve never been before.
“You’re not afraid of me, why?” I turned around and backed away seeing Hann. Woah, what was he doing? Did he think we were going to hook up in this small dark room like they do in the movies?
Oh my god, what was wrong with me? Why did I even allow myself to think such things. He was a monster and I was here to kill him. Focus Cassia, focus! He was a vampire and I hate vampires!
“What?” I questioned, staring up at him. Why did he bring me here? I’m sure it wasn’t because of what I had thought. The look on his face said otherwise. He looked like he wanted to kill me. I was glad to see his brown eyes instead of his red ones though.
”How come you are not afraid of me?” He asked, moving towards me. Maybe it’s because I find you slightly attractive. I mentally rolled my eyes at my own stupidity. Now was really not the time to be so stupid. He was a vampire!
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I said innocently, looking around and seeing that we were inside of a classroom. I guess this room wasn’t being used because everything was empty and moved to a corner.
“You’re suppose to be afraid of me, I am your prince. I am stronger than you.” He stated and I snorted looking at him, moving back slowly. I was hoping to find something that I could defend myself with. He wasn’t my prince, he was stronger. But he was not my prince.
“I don’t know, you just don’t scare me.” I told him honestly and stopped once my back made contact with a desk. Hann kept moving closer to me, his eyes locked on me. If he wasn’t a vampire, I’d be soo turned on right now. But he was so I needed to stop fantasizing. I started searching behind me for anything sharp that I could use on him, just in case he decided to go wild. I stopped when I felt a pencil or a pen. I wasn’t able to tell which.
“Why?” He growled, veins forming under his eyes and his fangs extracting out. I inhaled deeply looking at his eyes. They were red. He moved closer to me but before he could do anything I brought the pencil up and stabbed him in his left eye. Holy shit! He screamed in pain and I quickly ran out the door. Fuck, fuck, fuck! I was so fucking dead. Why did he have to fucking try and bite me. Shit! I looked around and ran towards the main door.
