Chapter 20

“Mother, please. I beg of you, do not do this.” Abius begged, crying to his mother as two men dragged him away.
“I’m sorry, Abius. It’s for the best.” His mother said, holding back tears as she watched her son struggle.
“How is locking me away, for the best?” He asked her getting angry, trying to fight the two men. He was trying his best not to use any magic like his mother had instructed.
“You went to far this time.” His mother explained and the men stopped so she could talk to him.
“It was an accident. Please, mother.” Abius begged, but his mother looked away from him, afraid she might give in.
“I’m sorry.” Was all she said, watching as the two men took her son away. Abius stared at his mother, feeling hurt and betrayed.
Earlier that same day, Marida had called the town’s law enforcement to take Abius away due to being over powered by his gift and having no control.
Unaware of what he was, the law enforcement took him and locked him away for little crimes since that was all they could keep him for. Abius, angry at his mother for not protecting him like she had promised, tapped deeper into his magic and allowed the darkness to take over. Thus creating dark magic.
“Fractos.” Abius whispered, watching as the chain that was holding him broke free. He smiled, getting up from where he was sitting and walked towards the people that worked in the building. Abius had yet to be put in a prison cell so he had access to every door in the building and everyone.
“Aven sa fuis sa belise, de la mer.” But Abius had other plans rather than just leaving. He instead used his magic to locked everyone in the building, including himself. He was now consumed by hatred, he wanted everyone dead.
“Vatos.” He whispered, causing every object that were near to explode. Scared, people started screaming and running towards every exit they could find but due to Abius’ magic, they were trapped.
“Phesmatos Pyrox Morsinus Illum.” Abius chanted, watching as everyone fell to their knees screaming in pain while their nose bled uncontrollably. Abius smiled, satisfied by what was happening. He had no idea he was capable of such power.
“Destruccive glas stav enfala.” Abius chanted and the spell he had placed on the doors were lifted. He looked around at everyone who were now dead on the floor and whispered one last word. He watched as fired started spreading and nodded in satisfaction.
He walked out of the burning building and towards his home. Wanting nothing but to see his mother suffer for betraying him. The power inside of him grew stronger, as he lost control. He became dark and dangerous, killing everyone in his path.

“Why? Why are you sharing your magic with me?” I questioned, watching as Nina chanted and flowers sprouted around her. It was truly beautiful.
“It’s a way of gaining your trust.” She explained, looking up at me. Since she was sitting down on the ground. I sighed and looked around, seeing birds flying around and other animals passing by. They all sensed her magic and came closer.
”Why do you want my trust so bad?” I asked her and she sighed. She was doing all of this just to gain my trust. But, I didn’t know if I could trust her. I didn’t really know her, she saved my life but she also knew who I was. She could turn against me anytime. She could easily hurt me.
“Because, I believe we’ll be great friends.” She wanted to be my friend? None of this made any sense. Why would she do all of this just to be friends. I didn’t need friends. I felt horrible that she needed to show me her magic in order to gain my trust.
“You didn’t have to do all of this just to be my friend.” I informed her, deciding to sit down in front of her. I thought more about it. She hasn’t done anything to harm me or given me a reason to not trust her. Yes she was a witch but I never really met one before. I’m sure if they were as evil as vampires I would’ve know about it. I'd be hunting them too.
“I wanted too.” She said, reaching for my hands, I bit m lip and gave her my hand. I was blindly putting my trust in her right now. I was hoping she was right. I was hoping she truly only wanted to be friends. Once she took my hands in hers, she started chanting and the leaves around us started flowing around in a circle while other flowers sprouted from the ground. Wow! Her gift was beautiful but I needed to focus on other things. I needed to focus on the mission. On Hann.
“That’s amazing. But we need to go back to school.” I said, breaking her concentration. She looked up at me and smiled. She nodded and got up, helping me up as well.
“You wanna go back to where Hann is?” She asked and I shrugged. I needed too, his family was my target. No matter how angry he got me I still needed to focus on him and Haruna.
“Sadly, I do. I’m sure you’re aware of why I’m here?” I told, as we walked to her car. She’s over here with a car while I was still waiting for Kevin to give me one like he had promised. Maybe after this mission I can try to convince him to finally give me one.
“I am, but you need to control your anger. I saw the way you were looking at him. You can’t really do much if your feelings are in the way.” She informed, getting inside the car while I did the same thing. She was right, I wasn’t able to concentrate on what I needed to do if I was angry all the time. I didn’t even know where all this anger came from. It never used to be this bad.
“I’ve been trying to but it’s hard. It’s like the anger is taking over me and I can’t do anything about it.” I explained, trusting her with this small detail. She was already aware of this, might as well open up about it. I couldn’t exactly tell Kevin about it because he would be worried about the mission. So it felt nice telling her.
“I can help you if you’d like.” She informed me and I turned to look at her. Would she really? Or was she just saying that? I sighed and nodded. She smiled and we drove in silence. It was actually nice having an actual friend here. I didn’t have to fake anything. I could just breath and be myself. I looked out the window and let out an annoyed breath seeing we were arriving back at school. We had arrived during lunch hours so we went straight to the cafeteria.
“Cassia.” I turned around seeing Haruna walking towards me and ignored her. I didn’t want to socialize with her after what happened with Hann. The whole point of the stupid deal was so that Hann wouldn’t touch me or try to kill me. And I had thought she would be on my side but I guess I expected to much from her. She was his sister after all. They were all the same. I thought I was her friend but I guess not. All that fake smiling and laughing and shit for nothing.
“Let’s go.” I said, turning to look at Nina after we both grabbed our soup. She was the only none vampire, well that I know of, that attended this school. I would assumed they’d have regular food also but I guess not. She wasn’t human so she was allowed to be here. Unless she wasn’t. Unless this world was for vampires only and other supernaturals aren’t allowed. I had do many questions.
“Cassia, come on. Are you really going to ignore me for something my brother did?” She asked, following Nina and I to Nina’s table. She was right, she wasn’t the one who hurt me, her brother did. But she was no different than him. They were both monsters and I hated them.
”I have nothing to say to you.” I told her, keeping a straight face and watching as her face fell. She quickly turned around and walked away. Despite everything, for some reason, seeing her react that way made me feel bad.
