Chapter 17
• Cassia •
“Kevin, he bit me. He almost killed me.” I yelled, pissed at him as I paced around the living room. Kevin wasn’t to happy when he found out what happened. He was more worried about the stupid mission than me. Yesterday he was all caring and shit but today he was an asshole which pissed me off.
“Cassia, you need to calm down.” He said, getting on my last nerve. How could I calm down when he wouldn’t give me my fucking weapons.
“No, I’m not calming down. I’m killing him tomorrow.” I informed angrily. Kevin had hid my weapons and he was refusing to give them to me, afraid I was going to do something stupid and blow our cover.
“We need to know more about them before we can do anything.” He said moving towards me and grabbing my arm. I didn’t like that. I didn’t like that his hands were on me. It triggered me further.
“Is that before or after he fucking kills me?” I asked, pushing his hand away.
“Look, Cassia. Like you said, we don’t know how many vampires are out there. How do you know that killing Hann won’t put them on our tail?” I sighed and turned around walking to my room pissed. He was right and I hated when he was right. I was just angry and not thinking straight. I wanted to hurt him like he hurt me. I wanted him to feel my pain. I didn’t care about the mission right now. I wanted him dead. But Kevin was right and I needed to calm down. I laid down and looked up at the ceiling. I needed to blow off some steam. I got changed into my training outfit and walked down the basement. I moved the punching bag closer to me and started punching it. Every breath that I took, I punched it harder and harder out of anger. The anger that was inside of me was takin over and I wasn’t able to calm down. It was new for me. I never used to feel like this before, I didn’t know how to calm down.
“Need help?” Kevin asked, moving towards me but I ignored him as I continued to punch the punching bag harder. He noticed that I was ignoring him and sigh.
“Come here.” He said, grabbing hold of my arm but on instinct I turned around and punched him in the face. I didn’t want to talk to him right now and I didn’t want him to fucking touch me either.
”I don’t need your help.” He grabbed his face looking at me and then out of no where he picked me up and dropped me on our fighting mat. Fuck, I had landed on my arm and it twisted a little bit. I groaned looking up at him. He wasn’t making the situation any easier.
“You need to calm down.” He said, moving towards me. I scoffed touching my right arm. So he thought that throwing me on the mat and hurting my arm would calm me down? Well no, it only pissed me off more. I kicked his foot out, causing him to fall on his back and got on top of him. I brought my fist back to punch him but he was quicker and grabbed my arm. He turned us over, him on top and pinned me down.
“Cassia. Please stop.” He said calmly. I stared up at him and stopped, breathing heavy. He loosened his grip and I quickly pulled him down, head butting him hard, causing him to loose consciousness.

”Irascitur detruire.” 10 years old Abius chanted and fire soon replaced the pile of woods he had put together. He and his friend had left to go play in the woods and Abius decided to show his friend his gifts.
“Where did you learn to do that?” Abius’ friend asked, mesmerized by what he had done.
“I was born with it.” He informed, having little knowledge of what he was and how he had gotten them.
“Are you the only one?” His friend asked, looking at the fire in awe. Wishing he could also do such thing.
“That I know of, yes. I am.” Abuis answered back, his friend nodded finally turning to look at him.
“Abius!” Abius turned around and stood up seeing his mother. “What did I tell you about using your gifts.” She asked, angrily, knowing that the only way for him to have start the fire was with his magic.
“I’m sorry, mother.” Abius frowned, looking down sadly.
“Say goodbye to your friend and let’s go.” Abius looked up at his one and only friend before waving good bye.
“Mother, why can’t I use my gifts?” Abius asked, following after his mother. He was confused as to why he couldn’t and why his mother had gotten so mad.
“Because, not everyone understands. They will want to know more and they will hurt you in the process.” His mother explained, but that only confused him further.
“But why would they hurt me?” He asked, touching the flowers and watching as they sprout beautifully.
“Because, your gift is something they do not believe in and they will want to know more. So they will hurt you to find out more. Now stop doing that.” His mother said sternly after seeing what he was doing with the flowers.
“But, what am I?” Abius asked, turning to look at his mother.
“You’re a gift given to me by the spirits. You’re a warlock, you were born with your gifts to maintain nature’s balance within the natural world.” His mother explained to him turning to look at him and kneeling in front of him so they were eye to eye level.
“The balance of nature is intimately tied to one's spiritual relationship with the Earth, and the idea that all living things like animals, humans, plants, are considered sacred, as they are all different aspects of nature.” His mother continued, having no idea where all that information was coming from. All she knew was that she needed to say it to him.
“What does that mean?” Abius asked, not understanding any of the words his mother was telling him.
“It means, your gifts allows you to have a connection with nature, a connection with animals, plants and even humans.” Abius smiled, finally being able to understand.
“Is that why I can help the plants grow?” His mother nodded and smiled seeing the smile that had form on Abius’ face.
