Chapter Twenty Three

It's been a week since the ball. I had been contemplating whether to call Edric or not. Constantine warned me about calling him but I didn't think he would mind after all we agreed that we could go on dates with other people but no sex.

Edric might feel like I didn't want to call him. So I checked my bag for his business card

Woah, so he was the C. E. O of a law firm, so he is a lawyer. Wonderful

I typed his number into my phone and dialed it. He picked it on the first three rings

"Hello, this is Everest son and co. How may I help you?" He sounded so professional

"Ummm, this is Eulalia. I don't know if you remember me"

"Ohh Eulalia, of course, I remember you, who can forget such a beautiful girl like you in such a hurry. I've been waiting for your call since"

"Sorry about that, I've been quite busy since then but I called you as soon as I got the chance"

"I would love to meet you soon, I don't know if you are free this evening. Maybe we can go for dinner or do you have other plans this evening?"

"None that I know of"

"It's settled then. Dinner is by six"

"Dinner it is" I repeated and hung up

As I made my way into Rodriguez's enterprise, Samantha as usual was at the reception with a smile on her face. She's always in a happy mood and she always makes my morning

"You smile a lot Sam and your smile today is giving me information. Did you get laid?"

She laughed "I have every reason to be happy. I got a boyfriend," she said blushing

"Oh my gosh, I'm so happy for you that I feel like screaming. So when are you going to introduce me to this boyfriend of yours?"

"I'll introduce you to him soon. We just started dating let it grow first"

"Fine, whatever you say. I'm so so happy for you, you deserve everything good and more"

"Thank you, girl. Your own is coming"

"Nah, I'm not looking for anything serious now. I need to go now, you know how grumpy the boss can be when he doesn't get his coffee" we both laughed.

I completed my usual routine and headed to the kitchen to make Constantine's coffee

I make his coffee and head to my office to get my small notepad before going to his office. I smiled as I entered his office and he returned the smile

I gave him his coffee and he took a sip

"Just the way I like it"

He dropped the cup on the desk and came over to where I sat kissing me on my lips, his hands moving to my breast but I stopped him

"What. Don't you want me?"

"It's not that, you know I want you but that's not why I am here. You have a business to attend to".

"What business?"

"You have dinner reservations with your client at seven"

"Oh shit, I forgot about that. You'll be attending tonight's dinner with me, I need you to take some notes"

I remembered I had planned this evening and I wanted to say something but he beat me to it

"Do you have plans?" He asked with a raised eyebrow

"No, not at all," I said

"Perfect, we will go there together by seven. Don't forget and don't make any other plans"

I made my way out of his office into my office. I needed to call Edric and inform him of the change of plans

"Hello Edric"

"Yes Euli"

"I wanted to let you know that I can't make it to our dinner. I'm so sorry to cancel on you like this but I have official business"

"That's bad, I'm kinda hurt but I know it's not your fault. What if we make it a lunch date?"

"That's fine, I have an hour break so we can meet. Do you know Rodriguez Enterprise?"

"Yes"

"Okay let's meet at the cafe across there"

"Your lunch break is 12 right?"

"Yes"

I used the telephone to call Constantine and let him know I'll be gone for an hour during lunch. He permitted the one-hour lunch and I was ecstatic.

When it was 12 I went to the cafe and I saw his back. It looked like he was typing something furiously on his phone. I tapped his back and he shuddered his head snapping

"Did I scare you?" I asked laughing

"No, you just caught me off guard," he said

"Lies, you were scared. Admit it"

"I wasn't"

"So Mr lawyer don't you have any clients to meet today," I asked raising my eyebrows

"I just finished meeting one before I came here"

"What's your specialty?"

"Company law"

"That's impressive"

"What about you, what did you study?"

"I studied Economics"

"That's a nice one but you don't look like somebody that studied economics you look like those people that study fashion" I laughed

"Would you like to drink something?" He asked

"Yes, I would like a pina colada. I am thirsty"

"Waiter" Edric called out and a waiter came scurrying to our table with a small notepad

"What is your order, sir?"

"We would like two Pina Coladas," he said and the waiter left

"How is being an assistant to one of the richest in the country like"

"I won't lie, it's very stressful. Sometimes I wish I could just remain at home and money will keep flying in. Crazy right?" I laughed "A girl can only dream"

The waiter served us our drinks and we took a sip

"You are funny" he laughed

He held my hand that was on the table and squeezed it "you are a strong woman. I'm lucky to have met you"

"Awww. You are so sweet"

"I'll like to still meet you again if that's alright with you. I would like to see where this leads to. You intrigue me"

"I would love that too. I need to go back now, I have exhausted my break"

"I'll give you a call"
