Chapter 16

Katherine and some of her colleagues had arrived at a place that they would use as a testing ground. An empty land that they could use as a construction evacuation site.

Katherine looked at the types of buildings they would build first. There were already some professional builders, architects and some security because this was a construction site after all. They were using simple methods to build ordinary buildings first. It was only the building that they would use to test the resistance to the artificial earthquake that they would create.

Katherine looked at Elano who was looking at the construction structures that were still in the design book. She had been avoiding that man alone yesterday and it felt like she was feeling calmer. I don't know what that man's intentions were either she wouldn't care because she decided not to have any relationship anymore. Elano was a difficult person to guess so he was better off staying away for his own safety at the moment.

"The construction is about to begin, Miss, we'd better take a look from the tents that have been set up."

Katherine nodded at one of her colleagues. They walked there and left the industrial site that was about to be built. Some of the heavy equipment and construction tools started to move closer with the help of the conductor, meanwhile Katherine could quietly wait for the construction and see what they would soon be working on because all of this had to be supervised. The tools were unusual and the materials were still being tested, so they had to make sure they were safe.

"Later in the house, we will put the control system as I said and it is currently being perfected after I tested it myself yesterday in my unused yard. This system will realize the smallest shock and give warnings according to the level to fix everything. A low level is a level that will not cause any harm but needs to be prepared in case there is a follow-up to the unnatural movement.

"Medium level is to be really prepared and it can wake up people who are sleeping. The high level is to leave the room within 5 or 3 minutes, to prevent a disaster that will take lives because this is the highest level and the shock will be overwhelming. I studied this system from overseas and found some similarities of the same business in the alarm system according to the levels being worked on at the moment. The levels are not that different from what we've gotten before but the system and planning must be done carefully. I'm sure once we thicken and patent these buildings and inventions we can definitely complete the system that has been discovered."

Katherine looked at some of the structures that would soon be installed to create the system. It made no difference but this was more of an emergency they were about to face. Plus they only had less than 4 months and it had to be done quickly or they would face true destruction.

They can't mess around with this anymore because the future will be more difficult. Katherine only hoped that they could finish all of this soon without any interruptions and anyone who would make them constrained in the matter of adjusting to the disaster.

"Then whatever you need just tell us so we can help you with this matter at this point who knows we won't be able to solve it in the near future so it's better if we solve it together because it will be easier for us to deal with together. We have to do it soon because there will be more complicated matters because like yesterday when we were draining something of discovery, we haven't finished yet we already have to do this and that. It would be better if you would share the difficulty of making this so we can finish it quickly." One of the Professors said making the others nod in agreement.

"I know but after doing this trial run we will discuss about the levels and alarms. We're going to make it on a large scale because according to the demand of the houses that we're going to renovate into disaster-proof houses so of course it's Andromax and it costs a lot of money. If the government is not able to use the money given by Mr. Elano we can put aside the intention for our needs too, we have to do something between us first and then focus on ourselves."

"You mean for salary matters?"

"Yes, we can put our intentions on hold first, don't we already have some business results that we can use for living expenses? Later, from this building patent, Miss Katherine will definitely get an award because she was the one who provided and researched the materials. With that, there will be additional income, she can use it to fulfill her needs."

Katherine smiled at their words while Elano who was there only gave a glance.

"That's the way to play huh? Apparently if you manage to find one of the formulas that can be used for the needs of human life, you will get a patent on your name?"

"Yes, more or less, sir. We're just trying our best to find a formula that we can use for human needs. That's why we're competing to do it, but since we're old and can't do anything too much, we're just a team that will test and see how strong the resistance of the ingredients we've found is. That's because we are more experienced and we can do it to allow or not these materials to be taken out and used by humans." One of the professors who said made Elano nod.

"Currently, only Miss Katherine can do it because she has a high enough ability and persistence to obtain materials that can be used for the urgent needs of society. It can't be haphazard because everything has to be done well but how many times has Miss Katherine done and gotten amazing inventions one of which is jackets and clothes that we can use in this scorching summer. She has no doubt but it still has to go through rigorous testing because it is for the safety of humans."

Elano nodded in understanding and then looked at Katherine. The girl was so calm that everyone's words were directed at her and complimentary. It was obvious that Katherine did not need praise and validation from people. She was a sincere person and it showed that they would not do anything carelessly because they could do it well and sincerely.

Elano not telling her his intentions from the beginning made Katherine feel a little disappointed. However, she felt that all of this was her fault and it didn't make her any more sober. He would still get an apology from this girl but it would take time and he didn't mind waiting however long it took just to gain her heart and trust.

In front of them, construction was underway and it looked very serious with all sorts of briefings being conducted by the senior professor. Katherine was also there, paying close attention so as not to make any mistakes. She was the one in charge of this project so she had to pay close attention. She didn't want anything to happen, so now she could only try to make all of this make more sense even if it was a bit of a drain on her time and energy.

Using the new technology they discovered a few years ago, they finally finished the construction at night. Katherine squirmed softly when she felt something being enveloped until she woke up and found the man who was Elano.

"Ah, sorry I overslept."

Katherine immediately straightened up when she realized that all the professors there were settling towards her. How could she fall asleep here when she was in the stage of paying attention to the construction process of the disaster-proof house they were building.

"It's alright, perhaps Miss Katherine was too tired thinking of a building formula that we can create so her resting hours changed. Besides, the construction is quite long, we just understand each other because we are working hard here."

Katherine smiled softly then looked at Elano who was also smiling. She didn't know what this man's intention was to always approach her and try to get her attention. Even though he had asked that they stay apart first so that none of his colleagues knew that they had a relationship. It felt like Katherine did not want to be caught up in the game that Elano could have created.

"Thank you for your concern."

Elano smiled, he knew that Katherine didn't want to talk to him much yet but with this girl saying that alone he felt enough. At least Katherine was still willing to think of him as a friend or coworker even though at the moment Elano seemed to barge in without informing her, thus making her annoyed and not accepting his presence in their group.

"Are you hungry? The construction has just been completed and is currently being cleaned up with a team of builders and also people who are checking the security. It would be a good idea to eat first since we are ordering dinner."

Katherine looked at the food on the table then moved and wordlessly walked over to it. Elano also followed and it made her raise an eyebrow when he sat on the chair opposite her table.

"Mr. Benjamin hasn't eaten either?"

Elano noticed Katherine's call to him had also changed and it showed that this girl was not messing around when she wanted to get away from him. Just now he did this but Katrin had already rejected him entirely and really did not want to show that they knew each other. It made Elano feel that what he had done had really offended Katherine.

"Actually what I've done is worse than this so you don't like seeing me?"

Katherine looked at Elano with a calm face before she finally smiled softly. "Nothing, I just don't feel the need to continue talking about us or what we did yesterday. Let's just pretend we were never close before and got acquainted when we were on the same project."

"But I can't," Elano said with a serious look. "You know how I am when I feel comfortable with one of my friends? I don't want to walk away from her just because of a small thing or for the sake of keeping a good name, I'll do anything just to get back the attention she has."

Katherine sighed, but she did not respond and decided to eat first because soon they had to go to the construction of the house that had been completed.

"Katherine, go back to your old ways and be friends with me, okay?"

Katherine gave him a glance, going back to eating without saying much. Elano just didn't understand that she had to maintain her integrity and all that she stood for in her good name and current position. She didn't know whether accepting would adversely affect her work or not because right now of course the issue at hand was about Elano.

He didn't want to make any missteps...
