Chapter 21

Katherine was a little lazy today on her bed, because she wanted to work too she hadn't found a new formula that she had to show so right now she just wanted to enjoy the time and sleep longer because the last few days had disturbed her sleep time.

Sonya didn't want to disturb her daughter's rest and just let her sleep longer. Today the weather seemed to have risen another few degrees and it was getting hotter, so they didn't go out and decided to stay inside. Natural resources were getting harder to come by but luckily the government was still willing to provide for them otherwise they might have struggled even to eat.

"She is sleeping, since last night she doesn't seem to be in the mood to do anything because the project is said to have failed. It's not her fault, project failure is a normal thing but because Katherine intended to help the community immediately, she ended up feeling disappointed when the project she was holding failed. That's why she's sleeping now and hasn't done anything since earlier," Sonya said to Elano who came to visit their house.

Elano was silent, he knew from the beginning that Katherine's attitude was full of humanity. The girl was willing to spend her time just to do what she could to fulfill the needs of the community.

"In that case, I'll buy some food for her. Does she have one or two foods she likes?" asked Elano with a serious face.

"Umm, she doesn't really like it. But if you have the will, you can go to the mall and buy her some ready-to-brew drinks like milk chocolate, hazelnut and the like. She likes drinks like that, while I can't go out because I'm not very good at using that flying car."

Elano nodded and smiled softly. "Then I will go there to buy them. If Madame has something to buy, please tell me so that I can buy it as well."

"Ah, there is, I'll write it down in a moment."

Elano nodded, looking at Sonya who had already written down some groceries and items that she wanted to ask Elano to buy. He already knew that the mall was quite well-stocked and he already knew several ways to make purchases. That of course made it okay for him to buy what Sonya and Katherine needed.

"What's with you guys not being close anymore?" Sonya asked, making Elano look at her. "I see that you two seem to be in a bit of trouble, did you have a fight?"

"There isn't any problem, don't worry. After all, we're just busy so we've started to see each other less often, the rest of the time there's no problem and we're still fine."

Sonya sighed softly with relief. "Thank goodness then, I never wanted Katherine to make any enemies. The earth is already this hot anyway so it's not good to make more enemies and live uneasily. Life is already very difficult now, I'm relieved that nothing happened between you."

Elano smiled and nodded, then looked at a note that had appeared on his tablet. Sonya sent what she wanted to buy, before finally turning off the tablet.

"That's it, the rest if there's anything else I'll buy it next time I go out."

Elano nodded in understanding and got a transfer.

"That's the money I gave you to buy it, the average price I still remember clearly so you can buy it with that money."

Elano did not say anything more to prolong and prolong everything. After making small talk and promising to have lunch together, he finally went to buy the items left by Sonya.

He also intended to find and buy the food that Katherine liked. Usually girls would feel happy to eat food that she liked so that was also what Elano would do to more or less comfort the girl.

As well as persuade her, because until now she had not been willing to forgive Elano for keeping his intentions secret from her.

"If my assistant knew that I was buying food and helping Mrs. Sonya with her shopping, she would probably forbid me and talk at length to forbid me from doing this. I don't know why I want to do it, it all happens because of my heart and I just follow my heart. Hopefully, there won't be too many things that will disrupt the focus of my life."

Elano arrived at the mall and began parking the flying vehicle. The mall today looked sound because of the weather and the temperature was getting hotter, he knew that humans were getting lazy to go out and would rather spend time inside.

It also made him want to stock up on some food and other groceries so as not to repeatedly go out and overheat them. The weather outside was really biting and he didn't want to marry himself or his assistants for too long.

Global warming had been going on for so long, encompassing the sun's rays that were so hot and the earth's crust made of fire also seemed like it was about to roast the planet. This city was really very hot and messy because of that if it wasn't for a bunch of professors, life here would have ended a long time ago because there was no expert treatment they could get.

Katherine took a breath and went back to studying the structure to reinforce the building materials. She made a computer comparison of what she could do to make things better again. Using the most advanced research system and technology from her computer and indeed making a comparison from the internet without any real materials.

"I should add more objects and materials like iron or the like. Iron that can soften but won't crumble when it's hit by a disaster. But it's good in a large enough form or at a very high cost. What should I do to make everything fit into my pocket and not increase the government's debt?"

For a few moments, she stayed where she was and looked at the materials on her research table. Everyone knew it would not be as easy as she thought but still she was willing to face the computer all the time just to get what she wanted, because this was not only for her but also for the citizens who needed elastic and long-lasting shelters for disasters.

Elastic and sturdy, those are the things she wants to do the most and get her way. Especially now that they have less and less time, only with this can they explain and solve all the problems that occur.

"Materials like steel and iron are the strongest, they can also be elastic if exposed to hot sunlight. But it will be difficult to make the air expand properly. Do I just add some kind of ceiling material to keep it cool and cozy?"

Katherine was so focused that day that she couldn't be bothered. Once again she also had to come up with a new formula before 24 hours because right now the idea was fresh and she didn't want to be disturbed by others.

"I've come up with an idea and can't just let it go, Mom. Please understand, I want to finish all this quickly so that I can live the life that will happen when I can't eat first. I'm sorry, but responsibility demands that I be able to do all of this quickly and thoughtfully. If I decide to eat downstairs my concentration will be ruined so it's better if I don't go out first and will eat later in the evening."

Sonya sighed, then walked out of her daughter's room and faced Elano who was there.

"Mom will deliver the food here for you, if you can't eat out you don't have to force yourself to. It's true that everything is very urgent for any business as long as we experience global warming and increasingly high temperatures but that doesn't mean you can ignore your own situation. I can't see you having to lower your self-esteem in front of men."

Katherine smiled and nodded in agreement, maybe eating while working on this project wouldn't be so bad, she wanted to get everything so if she didn't leave the room it wouldn't be strange for her mother because that woman knew best what she was like.

People might think badly of you because she worked online and most of her colleagues were men. The professors were of course mostly men and there were only a few women, and even that didn't cover up the fact that none of them had any intention of getting married because they had to immediately start completing this mission they had gotten from the government.

As Sonya delivered the food, Katherine smiled and thanked her. Sonya wasn't in the room for long, she knew that she couldn't intrude too long or expect her daughter's concentration to fall apart. She wasn't in Katherine's shoes but she was the first to understand that it wasn't easy, staying by Katherine's side and supporting her in everything she did, she felt that what she was doing now was certainly not the same as before.

"She can't eat out, seriously looking for laptops and tablets like she's trying out the best graphics. Now of course they've bought expensive ones but the result is zonk, it's not something beautiful to tell."

Elano nodded slowly and sighed. He didn't know if that was the right reason or if Katherine was avoiding him because she knew he was having lunch here. But whatever it was, the important thing was that he continued to try to win over this family so that he could get what he wanted.

"Just let Katherine finish her work because I can come to her next time to invite her to have lunch together like this time. I know she's busy and there's not much hope of meeting her so when Katherine is ready I'll pick her up for dinner."

"You are very kind and understanding, thank you for understanding and not taking my daughter for granted. She's just a bit introverted but she has to work amongst people and that naturally makes it difficult for her to speak. Next time it will all heal and I will work on that healing so that there will be no more things that make you sad like this time."

Elano smiled and nodded. He knew that Katherine was traumatized and that trauma made her also seem like an arrogant and introverted person. Being with her a few days ago also did not show much interest from Katherine, the girl looked relaxed like someone who never cared about her surroundings.

"Then eat a lot, the immune system should really be well replenished while here. So don't ever forget to take the drinks and medicines that ion has given you," Sonya said as she poured a bottle of water for him.

Elano realized that the mother and daughter in front of him were really a good family. Her mother is also good, so Katherine is good. With that, he recognized that those in front of him were people with good abilities.
