Chapter 25

Elano and the other professors were already sitting and looking at some of the basics of the building that they would soon be discussing again. But until now Katherine had not told the full details of how and what materials she would eventually use to build the anti-disaster building. The girl is still keeping it a secret on the grounds that she still has to perfect many of her previous programs to the public.

"I decided on a way to make the building quickly and immediately put up the outer protection as we had discussed but now changed a little about how the structure is. Because if we build it on the ground it might be more difficult. But since it's a building that's just going to be an overlay, we won't spend a lot of money on building a house from scratch."

Several images were displayed on a presentation screen. Elano looked seriously at what was in front of him before noting a few things silently. Katherine's tired face was clearly visible but she had to stick to her goal as this was something she had been hoping for for a long time.

"For now the material is very limited and quite expensive so we can only use 30% of it which is enough to hold up to hundreds of kilos of weight. At least it is useful for initial protection and if the earthquake is strong enough we will also make it even higher. Only 30 to 50% of the materials can be used depending on where the area is to be built and how influential it is on the problems of disasters and the like that will occur there.

"Because after I clearly noticed, not all areas have the same level of earthquakes. There are areas that will only get small shocks and there are those that get large shocks. After a while, I realized that we can save more if we adjust to what's available at the construction site because it will make it more even and definitely not waste expensive building materials."

After saying many things about her references and presentation, some of the professors invited her to discuss what to do in the future. While Elano could only remain silent, staring at his tablet that was connected to a system inside.

"We have found some related things, sir. With all that, it will be easier and will also get what we want."

Elano smiled softly and looked at Katherine's face. His smile faded for a moment, with a certain tightness he felt. Why did he have to be at this crossroads? He knew how to do it but he didn't know how to make everything fit into his life.

Maybe it would fit but his heart seemed to refuse but he had to keep doing it to get what he wanted.

Katherine walked out of the room and turned to see Elano who was a little distant and uncharacteristic. Usually Elano would approach her and talk pleasantly but today he didn't, the man just got into his flying car and left, even though Katherine was sure that she was visible, it just seemed that Elana was quite busy and there was no time for small talk anymore.

That made her walk towards the library not far from them and pick out a digitally published book. She learned a few things about modern science and technology that could be used to improve the entire system and upgrade the building that they would soon release and announce to the public, if she was convinced that it was the right thing to do rather than the old way.

She was there for a while, and only returned when it was almost evening. Without her realizing it, there were several people following her and watching her so seriously because she knew how much she cared about her surroundings.

"After all this I'm going to take a short vacation and enjoy the time. I've been so tired and busy for so long that I haven't had time to enjoy myself."

Katherine sighed, she felt like someone who was confined in a golden cage but could also be free once in a while just couldn't express what her life was like just because of busyness and projects to be done. It was quite a difficult life and she hoped that after this there would be no more problems because she had already spent 20 days just investigating and making new materials that she could formulate to make a disaster-proof building that was more sturdy and could be carried across the terrain.

If everything was completed and she obtained a patent then life would be very peaceful as the construction would be done by experts. She would just monitor because she felt very tired and wanted to rest.

"You just got home? Elano said goodbye to mom earlier and said he was leaving."

As soon as she got home, Katherine heard from her mother about it and raised her eyebrows.

"What did he say goodbye to? Did he mean to go back to his town?" Katherine asked, causing Sonya to nod.

"He didn't say anything to you?"

Katherine paused, then shook her head.

"Didn't you guys meet at the office because you were leaving at the same time?"

Katherine was silent, what was the reason for Elano suddenly leaving? Subconsciously he seemed to have done something suspicious without even saying goodbye to her. Was there something going on that the man had to take care of so quickly that there was no time to call and tell her that he had to go home?

"Never mind, my relationship with Elana is also nothing more than people who have exchanged favors and then also going to the office. It seems like he's only going home for a short while, after which he'll also return because he didn't say he was going home at all even though today he was quite focused on his tablet and didn't talk to me or any other colleagues. He's a well-known businessman so it seems natural that he's busy and has to go there to take care of his business. Just let him go because we can't tell him too many things."

Sonya sighed and nodded slowly. Meanwhile, Katherine had excused herself to go to her room and stayed on the balcony. She didn't know why the man suddenly left, before Katherine's prayers would talk to him the man even tried his best to make her trust him again. However, this time he just left and made Katherine feel a little disappointed.

"Never mind, from the beginning he never put me in his heart as a friend or the closest person. He doesn't need that right? So what can I expect? He's a businessman and has enough power for himself and his life so he doesn't need anyone else." Katherine sighed, taking a sip of the drink she had brewed and it was the last drink Elano had given her as she was still unwilling to accept the man and his forgiveness.

Who knows when else they would meet but it seemed like it would never happen. Katherine would not leave this place, would not leave this city and would continue to be a part of this place until she died. Meanwhile, Elano was from out of town and was also an out-of-towner so she would never be able to meet him if it wasn't for him coming here.

Taking a sip of her drink, Katherine didn't want to work tonight because she was tired and she just needed to wait for the results of the trials she had made. She had already reproduced the summary and also the plans that she would reveal later if the results were also not suitable and optimal.

Tonight she would sleep and rest her body, her intention was that she would tell about all her latest programs and research to build the modern disaster-proof building in two days when the end of the month came. So then everything will be included in next month's budget in order to further reduce the country's excessive spending.

Since she did not have to do much else tonight, Katherine enjoyed it before going to bed by watching some movies that she had missed over the past few months. The movie industry was still doing well despite the need to move and find suitable locations without the unstable heat or cold of the city.

Katherine hopes that someday nature will improve and there will be no more problems like this. Everything was enough and it didn't have to happen again because they had suffered enough from what people had done in the past.

A few days later, Katherine was already eagerly heading to her office and she was currently strengthening her resolve to express all that she had learned to build a disaster-proof building as they had made the first program. She walked with excitement, hoping that this would be the change and things would improve with all the things they would do.

But when she arrived at the office, some of her fellow professors were actually excited by a news story that had just been published this morning. At first she wanted to respond casually but when she read the caption that opened the news, Katherine's face was so dumbfounded that she forgot to breathe.

Katherine was silent with a stiff face looking at what was in front of her. On the wide television screen, Elano's face however appeared and smiled with a completely innocent face. The man very casually and skillfully explained about the program he had explained a few days ago in front of the professors, until the gazes of the colleagues who noticed her arrival immediately turned to her who was already nervous.
