Chapter 20

"The building collapsed last night, indicating that the materials are not strong enough and we need to replace them with new materials and new research. For now, let's put aside what we've got and make something new so we can find a new way to keep the building strong."

Katherine fainted slightly at the words of one of the seniors who showed a photo of the collapsed house they had built a few days ago. The girl quickly examined the building materials that she had researched when the house was standing upright, really looking into learning the formula of why the house collapsed.

Her busyness made Elano who was there feel a little guilty about her attitude. This girl was struggling a lot and she was struggling with everything but what Elano was doing was certain to make her feel hurt if she knew.

No, he wasn't destroying the building secretly. He was also shocked when he found out that the building had collapsed but he couldn't do anything about it especially when he realized all of this was quite sudden. I don't know what caused it but the building had just collapsed like something that was not strong even though they had tested it and found the building and materials to be strong.

"Are you sure the building collapsed because the materials were not strong? Not because someone intended to destroy the project?"

The few professors who were there stared at him, looking at Elano who had opened his voice like someone who was the most expert in this matter. Katherine herself had looked away and returned to staring at the tablet in her hand to find out what exactly had happened to cause the building to be damaged.

"What are you talking about? People intending to destroy the project we're doing?" One of them voiced out making Elano nod.

"It could be like that because in some cases we can't avoid having people who are jealous and dislike us, right? You guys are the only organization working for the government to get this disaster-proof building? What if someone else is also doing the same thing and doesn't like you getting the information first so he comes and destroys a building that's already been tried?"

The few professors who were there looked silent but then they sighed.

"That's a bit impossible because there are guards and also reminder bells. If there is any unnatural movement or emergency warning it will ring on its own and we also have footage of the surroundings and inside the house there is no sign of anyone coming to destroy it."

Elano was silent, while some of the other Professors had also started discussing. He didn't know what to do here because this was his favorite but to get, search and find all the formulas and parts of this formula completely, he didn't know because he didn't study that deeply. This was a formula that had never existed before, he still had a hard time dealing with it.

"After this I don't know how to deal with it." Katherine muttered while sighing softly. "I'm going out for a while, maybe to do some research and calm down so I can get more ideas and clues."

The few professors there simply nodded and let Katherine go. They knew they couldn't stop the girl, especially since they were also the ones who understood best that this was complicated and that they had to calm down and look for other ways carefully.

Elano who saw her walking out was speechless. Even though everything was almost finished, but apparently everything had not been allowed until they could only be silent with a gaze that could not prevent everything from happening.

The building collapsed, even though they had been painstakingly looking for it. Of course, this was not something easy.

Katherine looked at the building before her that had collapsed and sighed. There was no time to grieve, she had to quickly find a new formula and recreate the same building with a different technique.

Taking out a tool, she examined the shattered slab and found that the thickness of the building had not changed, it was just that the building collapsed because it was not that strong to withstand the sudden shock.

Taking in the surroundings again and making comparisons, Katherine took out a tablet and found out what the fault was that made this building collapse. Her face was very serious, researching for a while, finding some flaws before she finally returned to the laboratory and research before going back to mixing some ingredients.

Her scrutinized the ingredients first, seeing how they compared and changed before finally letting out a soft sigh.

"I finally figured out that you can't use mostly cement and bricks," she muttered with a slow smile. "I'll have to increase the rubber and plastic materials, as well as iron to strengthen the building. It seems that for the size of the houses as required, I'll have to ask the construction workers who made the earth spikes to reduce their size for the houses. If it has such strong posts and pegs then it will be the most sturdy building."

Her tests were carried out into the night, before she finally went home after storing all the materials without anyone knowing. She couldn't take them out right now, because being careful was more important because she didn't know who her enemies and friends were that she could trust.

"Collapsed again?"

Katherine nodded with a sigh. "It's not easy to make a building earthquake-proof and resistant to earthquakes and disasters like that. I don't know how to make it all make more sense either. It feels like something that must be carefully considered so that nothing goes wrong," she said as she ate her mother's rib soup.

Sonya sighed, she knew that her daughter was trying and there was no way things would just work out because nothing in this world was really smooth other than something that had already been invented and just recreated. There weren't many scientists who could invent something quickly and make it work right away because they would make sure everything was working to the best of their ability and needs before getting the perfect result.

"You just need to calm down and not rush things because things won't get better if you rush them. If it works you just need to convince yourself that this is something you can do. Remember, nothing is a failure if you do it, you just haven't found something that you will definitely find someday as long as you try."

Katherine smiled and nodded, she knew her mother was someone who would never leave her even if she was at her lowest. She just needed to try without making all of this into something she couldn't do. Everything could be done as long as she knew the formula and calculations of it all.

"How about we go for a walk tonight? It's been so long since you've done anything to walk around and enjoy the time. Wouldn't that be great?" she asked, making Katherine sigh.

"I'd love to, but I'm a little tired, Mom. How about tomorrow?" asked Katherine making Sonya smile.

"Alright, you rest and get some sleep tonight. Don't think about anything because you need to calm yourself down, it's much better to do than to have to think about something that doesn't please you."

Katherine smiled and nodded, then ate her food again and diamond to sleep after this. She knew that if this was related to her life, she would try to make everything safe and fine.

If she got better and felt successful, re-discovering a more powerful ingredient and formula. Then she would not sleep to hide her sadness, she would open it again and become the first person to successfully find the formula to make a disaster-proof building.

Walking into her room, Katherine sighed heavily and lay down on the bed after washing her feet. The girl stared up at the ceiling, feeling that what she was doing was absolutely necessary and she knew it had something to do with all the things she would surely succeed in doing.

Life and death were always together, she just needed to go towards one of them. Save life or let death dominate this country and city.

"I just want to save human lives, right? Why is everything so hard to do? Isn't this something that leads to good?"

Sighing, Katherine closed her eyes. She didn't know what to say, it was better for her to sleep first and come back energized tomorrow since she was fully rested. This would help even more, as her focus would be back and everything would be under control so well.
