Chapter 8

Katherine had just returned from accompanying Elano and found her mother in the front room. She closed the door, then smiled and walked over to her mother.

"Why are you still up?"

Sonya sighed, looking at her daughter gently. "I don't know Elano very well yet, so I can't let you go just yet. Where are you guys from? I saw on the GPS map that you went into town."

Katherine smiled and nodded. "Elano has a project to complete here so he needs some of the tools and equipment we're used to because it would be hard for him if he didn't use them while we also don't use old things anymore like cell phones still being held everywhere and the like. So I helped him buy some stuff, because I'm the only one he knows here and I understand so I helped him."

Sonya nodded in understanding and smiled. "You're already tired, you should get some sleep. You said you're going to the office tomorrow morning so it's better not to do much."

"That's the intention," Katherine replied as she sighed softly. "Mom is sleeping too, there's nothing to worry about. The predictions of disaster have not yet come and we have also prepared anticipations that might be useful. It's better to just go on as usual and not be too scared ourselves."

Sonya got up from her seat and gently embraced her daughter and she led Katherine towards the room. To tell her about the disaster that had occurred in their country and city was certainly not a pleasant thing to do so there was no further discussion about it.

Because of this disaster and the change in weather, Sonya lost her husband and Katherine also lost her father. There were hundreds of citizens who lost their families and family members, so it was not a pleasant discussion for them to be able to discuss bluntly.

"You go to sleep, it will be better after this. Tomorrow mom will cook a meal that you like before you leave. To be the savior of the world you have to be a great and strong person, with that you will get whatever you want."

Katherine smiled and hugged her mother for a while, then afterward they separated because they were in different rooms. It was a long sleeve day for Katherine and she would soon rest without thinking about anything. Elano already had friends so he wouldn't be lonely alone in the house either. Katherine could still help him if he needed help but with the existence of the maid and her personal assistant, Elano could already do small things in private without bothering her anymore.

Having only slept for a minute, Katherine lazily opened her eyes and looked at the alarm that had gone off repeatedly. Since the world was no longer beautiful then time also went so fast and sometimes so long, everything she could not think of why it was like this. Even though they were also doing this activity not just to rest but also to recover, but Katherine knew that it was also enough rather than nothing.

She felt more grateful for sleeping for what seemed like a few minutes but was actually quite long even though her body was not so fit after waking up.

Showered and prepared, Katherine would go to the office and research center to meet with her colleagues page to discuss about the materials they could use for disaster-proof buildings. Let's call it an anti-disaster building, the one material they will be looking for is a material that is very strong against anything that will happen in this city.

"You're not doing anything right? Let's eat first and then leave."

Katherine smiled and sat down at the dining table with her mother, before she finally ate the food with gusto.

They made small talk before Katherine finally departed. She didn't use a flying car because she only used it when shopping or going to far places. We can save money on energy from flying cars so since the office was close by Katherine decided to walk instead to improve her declining body quality.

"As we usually do, there is no suitable substance that we are looking for but if we look deeper we can get more ways and information that are suitable. I believe we can because the more we are eager to look for it, the more we will find what we are looking for."

One of the senior professors said opening the meeting, making them nod seriously and talk about the modern technology they were working on.

A woman shifted her hand casually so that the holographic screen in front of them could be seen shifting as well as displaying several types of buildings that they might be able to design if they could find the materials later.

"Squares and semicircles are pretty good, but after I think about it, the houses we create should be better with control technology. Although we don't know for sure when the earthquake will come and the world will split apart, but at least we can still live and survive inside the sphere. I intend to make the house with a round shape so that when the place happens and the house rolls it will still roll on the outside and the inside will remain stable.

"I designed with two different layers of one sphere. The inside can stay put while the outside rolls looking for a safe place and the object or house that we have to build out of concrete like this in order to produce a good result. Think of it like we're in a car and it's moving but not making us roll. I also like this idea because if we manage to develop it, it could be like a walking house." One of the professors said making the senior professor run the sign in place.

"You passed, never despair because everything is in accordance with the rules. I also thought of something similar yesterday but it seems like it would be too much money unless we make it from a very strong material like concrete or a strong place so that if there is a fire and they are already staying in the car then they will leave indirectly realizing the strangeness.

"We will try to keep upgrading and with this we can definitely find a decent way to support them and keep them safe. I can't if they have to hold back, after this I'll be able to prepare everything and if I find something related I'll deliver it."

Katherine took notes on some of the important parts said by Professor and they looked at the results one by one there was a lead. Since she was done and felt confident, Katherine got up after their representatives and boasted of their achievements. She came forward with her invention and started to say what she could say as her invention.

"I have melted glass, wood, plastic, iron as well as waterproof and heat-resistant substances together to produce something quite hard and strong. I set this thing on fire and it didn't react to anything, it just didn't burn, didn't absorb water and heat. I have tested everything several times but there is no indication that it will change its properties."

Some of the professors there were seriously watching Katherine's video.

"With that we can make a miniature house for the exam. The materials are what I have found. Since the glass, plastic, iron, wood and other substances I'm trying out are common and widely found, it'll be easy for us to start making the materials with the right dosage."
