Thirty Two
It is eleven o'clock in the evening, but I'm is still at the bar. I already drunk five glasses of vodka, but I had no plans to go home yet. I was like being dump by a girlfriend right, so I wanted to drown myself in alcohol. When my first wife left me, I wasn't drunk. Because I know in myself I hoped that she would leave me soon. It's a good thing that our divorce granted after one year because I didn't want to be tied to her. I still continue to drink while the other couple of customers still continue to dance. I shook my head. Aren't they tired because, based on my observation, they seemed to be dancing in the middle of the dance floor at nine o'clock and until now at eleven o'clock, they haven't finished.
Even though the music was loud, I could hear the bartender talking to him.
"Have you seen the woman you're looking for?" he asked me. My forehead furrowed.
“You forgot, sir, you were here eight months ago because you were looking for a woman. Have you already found her? " he asked me.
I looked at the man's face. I remember that he was the one I talked to before about Gianna.
"Yes," I replied, bringing our conversation to a close. After a while, I suddenly jumped because someone had kissed my neck. And it whispered to me.
“Why are you alone, babe? Do you need a companion? I'm willing to accompany you all night," she said in a soft voice.
I looked at it. A woman with thick make-up and wearing a short dress was standing in front of me.
"I want to be alone, Miss, so you can leave in front of me." was my answer.
The woman smirked. I'm frowning. This is the kind of woman he doesn't want to be with. He used to be able to hit anyone before, but now he can hate women like this.
“Will you leave in front of me or will I pull you away from here? " I told her.
The woman left without saying goodbye in front of me. So I dropped the money on the counter and left the bar. I'm going home because if I stay here longer, I'll be here to sleep because the alcohol I drank is already enveloping my system. I opened the door of my car and entered. I drove the car away from the bar house.
I drive slowly to avoid accidents. Shit! My head was rotating. I decided to go home to Harley's house since it's near where I was right now. I know my daughter is already asleep, but I'll summon the courage to wake her. I stop near Winter's gate.
After a while, I'll get out of the car and dial her phone number. In the four rings that I did, she never answered it. I tried again. It's a good thing that she already answered. I was about to throw up. I felt dizzy.
“Hello, Daddy, what's the matter? It's late at night. You haven't slept yet? " Winter asked me in a low voice.
"I'm outside your house, Love." I told her.
"Are you drunk, Dad?" she asked me.
I did not answer the question but hung up the phone. Two minutes later, the gate of her house opened and Pia and Winter went out.
"Where's Gianna?" I will ask.
“You're hallucinating, Daddy. Gianna, is no longer here.” Winter replied.
“I'm sorry, sweetheart. I drank too much. That's why I can't drive home.” I told her.
"I'm so sorry for disturbing your sleep." I said.
“It's okay, Uncle” Pia said.
They led me into the house and put me on the couch. I closed my eyes and swallowed my spirit of darkness.
I woke up in the morning, he was grabbing at his head because it hurt. I got up and noticed I was on the couch asleep. I looked at the dress I was wearing. I'm sure Winter changed my clothes. I hoped that Gianna would have stared in front of me and smiled at me with a very sweet smile. But I knew she was no longer here at Winter's house.
And then I noticed Pia approaching the living room of the house.
"Good morning, Uncle. How's your hangover? " Pia asked me.
“Liquor sucks! My head was aching, "was my answer, Pia laughed.
“Of course, you're drinking too much, so hang over what you'll get the next day,” said Pia.
"Pia, how's Gianna? Is she safe at where she is staying right now? " I asked her.
Pia looked at me before answering.
"Yes, uncle, she's okay." Pia replied.
"Why don't you tell her to apply to my company so she can have a job?" I said.
Pia smiled.
"Sure, uncle, that was a good idea," she says.
“And one more thing, dear, don't tell her, I'm the owner of the company. And I'll put her where I am.
"Not there in my other business," I said.
"I'll take care of everything, Uncle," she says.
I nodded. Then she put the soup and water on the table near me.
“You should eat that soup, Uncle. It will lessen your hangover.” She said.
"Okay, thank you!" I replied.
Then she walked away and went to the kitchen again.
I was still in bed. I felt peace as I went to my aunt's house. It texted earlier that it would be gone for a month because she was going to Los Angeles with Uncle. It looks like they're going on vacation. I got up because I was going to drink water in the kitchen. I put on my house slippers and left the room. I heard a noise in the living room of the house. What's up? I found the helpers talking happily. I went to the kitchen for a while to get some water and then went back to the living room. They all fell silent as they noticed me.
"Good morning!" I greet them all.
They all nodded.
“What's the matter? Why do I hear your voice in my room? " I asked them with a smile.
"Eh, we were planning to wind up outside, Ma’am. But we can't say goodbye to Senyora, "said the fat woman.
“Sure, you'll go ahead. I'll tell my aunt.” I answered, and their faces lit up.
"But everyone of us went outside, ma'am," said the thin man.
I think it's the gardener.
“Yes, it's okay. A guard will be left here, right? Because I'm leaving too. " I said.
They all nodded.
I left in front of them because Pia texted me to meet me at a coffee shop. I went into the bathroom to take a shower. I put my head in the shower. And I started soaping my whole body. I came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my body and looked for something to wear.
I chose the floral dress that was tight on my body, sprayed a little perfume, and put make-up on my face. I was carrying my sling bag when I left the room. The whole mansion was quiet. Maybe they all left for the city. I went out of the mansion and walked into the gate. I was greeted with a smile by the guard.
“What about you? You didn't want to go out? " I asked the guard.
He was holding his head and laughing.
"Not yet, Ma'am, the house was so quiet. I don't want to be fired from my job. " He replied.
"I see."
Then I continued walking and left the house, hoping to find a taxi.
A taxi pulled up in front of me, and the driver opened the door for me. I went in and it drove away from where I was standing earlier. I also made it to the coffee shop, where Pia and I plan to meet. I paid the driver and got out afterwards. Pia, who was sitting near the corner, was visible through the glass wall.
I went inside, and she waved at me as I walked closer to her.
“Gianna, is that you? You’re so pretty!”
“Do you know anyone else besides me?" I asked her.
She stood up and hugged me.
"I miss you, Gianna," she says to me.
"I miss you too." I told her once I was away from her embrace. I pulled out a chair, and Pia sat down as well.
"How are you?" she asked me.
"I'm fine. I lived in a mansion with my aunt." I answered her.
Her eyes widened.
“Really?"
"Yeah, my Aunt had a rich husband." was my answer.
"Good for you then. So that means you have no plans to go back to Winter's house? "it asked me.
"I'll just visit there but I won't stay."
"How long will you avoid Uncle Leon? He is suffering too much because of you hiding from him," she said to me.
"Pia, I'm not hiding from him. I just that I don't want to rely on him. Who is the sensible person to settle with a woman whose life is uncertain? " I told her.
“That's not the kind of life you have. We love you!" "Priya, please, I don't want us to talk about such a thing." I told her.
"All right, I'll recommend you some work," she says to me.
“It's even bigger than that in your previous job.”
"What's that job?" I asked.
"Head of operations in business marketing." Pia replied.
I was stunned by what Priya said.
"What? Pia, what do I know about that business?" I responded to her.
"Just try, Gianna, nothing will be lost," she said to me.
"I do not want!" I said.
"Aurora, this is your time to shine; perhaps this career has given you hope in life," she said.
I took a deep breath.
"What is the name of the company?" I asked.
"You'll know if you start working tomorrow." She said.
"It means that I have directly been hired?" I asked her.
"Of course." Pia's answer.
I had no choice but to try the job for which I was not suited. I took a deep breath and nodded.
"It's settled then," said Pia.
"You can go now so you can master the place," she says.
I nodded. She gave me the address and stood up.
"I'll be the first to leave because my boyfriend and I still have a date," said Pia to me.
I nodded and followed her out. I read what was written,
"M Company."
I took a taxi and got on. I told the driver where I was going. It also takes an hour to travel to the said company. I got out of the taxi. The company I was going to was on the tenth floor. I didn't go inside. The important thing was that I knew where I was going tomorrow. I twisted the pen in my hands.
Pia had just called me earlier and said that Gianna had agreed to work for my company. I was overjoyed to find out. I hope she won't hide it from me anymore. I took a deep breath. I hope my plan won't fail if I can. I don't know what to do anymore. I stood up and decided to go outside to find some food since I hadn't eaten breakfast.
I’m out of the building right now and walking. I looked for a place to go eat. I have a hard time when I live alone because no one cooks food for me in times that I can’t cook before of tiredness, so these past few days I haven’t had the right food. I went into the simple restaurant and ordered two plates of rice and a simple dish.
I carried it to the corner and laid it on the table. I have already started eating, and I feel like I am hungry. I shook my head. I will definitely get sick when I am always hungry and do not get a proper meal.
