CHAPTER 46; His Restrictions

EREVELL’s P.O.V.

As Gabriel wished, I tried to stay awake for as long as I can. I prevented myself from ever feeling tired, nor negative in any way. I’ve read a lot of articles in the Internet stating that if one person remained positive and start ignoring the deadline, he or she might live longer than one’ supposed to. The truth is, I’m getting too tired of everything, but I vowed to follow Gabriel’s restrictions about sleeping... Sleeping forever.

“Erevell? I’ll be leaving later on. Gab will be in charge of you, alright?” my Mom asked, informing me that my boyfriend will come over again later on.

“Sure, Mom... I’ll still be here when you came back,” I joked and she glared at me.

“You know, that’s a bad joke. Do you want something if I came back?” she asked me, and I instantly remembered something that I want.

“Sure, sure.”

Before I could even answer, the door swing open, revealing Gabriel. He smiled at me, and I did the same.

“Oh, he’s here. Gab, I’m very sorry for asking you about this. I just have to go home and get something.”

“That’s alright. I mean, I would like to stay here as much as possible.”

“Thank you so much, Gab.”

And that’s when my Mom bid her farewells, leaving us two behind. Gabriel sat on the edge of my bed, before looking at me.

“How are you feeling?”

“Fine... I mean, there’s nothing wrong.”

“Are you sure?” he asked me again.

“Yes... I was just... A little bit sleepy, I guess.”

“Sleepy?”

“Can you lay down beside me?” I asked, pleading.

“Sure.”

He laid down beside me, and I put my head at the top of his chest. He softly caressed my hair, before I finally go to sleep. The next thing I knew, I was awakened when he moved.

“What happened?” I asked him, my voice ragged.

“Did I wake you up?” I nodded. “Sorry. Your Mom called. She is asking me to come down and get something that you asked her to buy. I guess it will be long before she could get up here again.”

“Why?”

“I think it’s about the hospital bill. She’s settling down the payment for last week.”

“Oh... Get it then,” I smiled, remembering that it might be the ice cream.

Gabriel chuckled at my urgent reaction, before he stood up, leaving the room. Maybe my Mom wanted us to get the ice cream because it will melt if it took us longer before we could even eat it. It took Gab a few minutes before he came back, holding the plastic bag in his hands.

“Now I get why you wanted me to take it here. Ice cream, really, Erevell?”

I don’t know if he’s being sarcastic or what, but the moment he placed the tub of ice cream in the table, I reached out for it, excited to eat as much as possible.

“No, don’t eat that... It’s too cold.” He grabbed it away from me.

“But I want it!” I complained, reaching out for the ice cream in his hand.

“You don’t understand. This is not good for you.”

“But I want it, Gabriel... And I’m serious,” I firmly stated.

“If you want it, then buy outside,” he challenged me, and now I’m sure that he’s being serious about it.

My brows furrowed, being furious at his restrictions. He knows that I wouldn’t be able to get outside since it was slightly raining, that is why I asked for my Mom to buy me something that I like to eat.

“Are you kidding me? You know that I can’t.”

“Then you won’t eat anything.”

“But that is for me!” I complained, like a child who was about to throw a tantrums. “My Mom bought me that. And now you’re saying that I can’t have anything?”

“It’s not good for you. You should have asked me first!” he retorted.

“And why is that?!”

“Because I am your boyfriend!”

“That’s right! You are just my boyfriend! You’re not even my parent! So why would you restrict me from doing anything that I wanted to?!”

He shook his head, before moving away from me. Then he grabbed the ice cream, putting it in front of my table. I think I hurt him a lot. His eyes, it’s telling me everything. Maybe I pushed him too hard. I should have just remained calm instead of allowing the two of us to fight.

“Fine. Do whatever you want. I’m just your boyfriend, by the way.”

“Well I already lost my appetite.”

He sat down on the chair, near at the entrance of my room. I stood up from my bed, before walking towards him. I gave him a hug from behind, before kissing the top of his forehead. He moved away, as if he doesn’t like what I’m doing.

“Gab... Please... Don’t be like this.”

“Don’t be like what?!”

“You always try to stop me ever since I came back in this hospital...” I trailed off, hesitating to tell him about it.

“It’s because I love you, Erevell,” he said, his voice full of pain.

“But that’s not love.”

“And now you’re questioning my love for you? For me, it is. I wanted you to stay. I don’t want you to die, so as much as possible, I wanted to keep away the things that will make you go sooner...”

“Even things that will make me happy?”

“Can I be selfish for once?” he asked, facing me. “I won’t be happy again without you... That’s the truth. I don’t want you to go... I don’t know where I would start if ever that day comes...”

“But we all know that it was going to happen soon.”

“Stop that!” he stood up, facing me. I was stunned, being unable to speak after he shouted.

“Why are you acting like that? I thought... You will love me for what I can give? This is me, Gab... I only got a few weeks left...”

“I said stop saying that! I don’t want you to die, okay? I don’t want you to leave...” he stated, for how many times today.

“But I’m dying!”

“Then don’t die! Don’t leave us!”

“I wish it was that easy... I wish that it was all up to me... But it wasn’t, Gab... It wasn’t...”

I slowly dropped myself on the ground, before bursting out crying. He looked at me, before shaking his head. And with that, he leave me behind... He ran away from me... From the painful love that we had.
