Chapter 13
***Stranger POV***
Walking into the hospital was not a daunting task for me as it would be for say, one of my youths. I. Like many of my warriors, worked within the human world. As werewolves, we are extremely difficult to harm. And therefore, very good at being body guards for the rich and famous.
The previous Alpha, his Beta and a neighbouring Alpha, started a small security business. I had not yet been born when it opened. The three men put the training they had received within the pack, to good use as enforcers, security guards and the like.
Within two years of continuous growth, the business, which was simply called, Wolf Enforcement, had needed to employ more men. Five years on, and Wolf Enforcement was the single biggest earner for both packs. Now, it was known in the business as the best. If you wanted to feel safe, you used a wolf Enforcer.
As one of the chairman of the board, I worked within the human world. Although we did have werewolves on our books, who needed our services. They only covered around five percent of our customers. Eighty percent of our clients were human. And the other fifteen percent were classified.
When I reached the help desk. I asked a very jolly looking woman, sitting behind the brightly coloured structure, where I might find my mysterious woman.
I followed the instructions, given to me by multiple ladies, where they all came from I have no idea, and quickly found the room I was looking for. Just as I arrived I saw a nurse leaving.
Hurrying over to her, before she sped off somewhere else, I asked about the patient. I know I was morally in the wrong as I lied to the nurse, by confirming I was indeed a family member. After being told this, the nurse’s face relaxed into a warm smile. And I saw that her eyes looked me over, something that always happened. Usually, I would take the opportunity to flirt a little. This time, I just felt annoyed.
I was about to open the door to enter the room when the nurse asked if I had come to take Juls, home.
Juls? That was her name. Juls? The name didn’t sit right on my lips, not too sure why, but, nonetheless, it just felt wrong to say.
Then, my mind caught up to what the nurse had said.
‘Taking her home? Why would I do that. Juls was in a car wreck, mere hours ago.’ I knew I sounded harsh, so I deliberately tried my best to control my temper.
‘I think I need to speak with a doctor, if you could arrange that, please!’ I couldn’t help the snip in my voice. I was quietly starting to panic. I knew I shouldn’t have lied about who I was to this lady. Uh, Juls.
I couldn’t take her home, where was she supposed to go. Probably because of my tone of voice, the nurse hurried off, in search of a doctor. I expected to wait around for one to show up, for a few hours. But to my surprise and gratitude, the doctor arrived within a few minutes.
He held out his hand for me to shake. ‘Mr…..’ when I didn’t respond with a name, he dropped my hand and ushered me into an empty hospital room. Situated next door to, Juls.
Before the doctor could say another word I interjected, ‘Just tell me if the lady will be okay, or not. That is all I really want to know at the moment.’ Which was another blatant lie I had been telling myself the whole way over here.
‘Well, that’s the thing. We can’t find a thing wrong with her. When, Juls arrived, she was rushed straight into the trauma room. Knowing the wreck she had come out of, and seeing all the blood that was covering her, I honestly couldn’t have said one way or the other if we could save her.
When we started to look over her, examine her for any open wounds, but, we found nothing. We tried to X-ray her. The machine went funny and stopped working. Next, we tried to insert a canular, but not one of us could find vein. I'll admit, I was at a loss as to what we could do for the young lady. I am waiting for one of the paramedics who was first on the scene, to phone me. I have many questions for him.’
I looked at the doctor, incredulousness written all over my face. This couldn’t be. I must have come to the wrong room. Feeling rather foolish at my impulsiveness to make sure the woman was okay. And then finding myself outside the wrong room, I was about to excuse myself, when the doctor opened the door, allowing me entry first, when I looked at the patient in the bed.
It was her. It was my mysterious woman. I did have the right room. Not really listening to the doctor prattle on about this treatment, or that, I sat next to the bed and picked up a small, fragile looking hand.
The static electricity that shot from my hand, up my arm, had me crying out in shock. What the hell was that? I thought.
‘Other than the fact Juls is still unconscious. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her. That is why we are asking her family to move her to a facility better suited to her needs.’
I raised my eyebrows at the doctor and asked sharply, ‘You’re kicking her out? No, don’t tell me. The hospital needs the bed. Am I right?’ I asked condescendingly.
At least the doctor had the graciousness to look embarrassed at my rebuke.
‘I’ll send in a nurse to go over the details of the transfer, with you. Sir.’ The doctor then left the room. I remained sitting next to the bed. What the fuck was I supposed to do now. I ran my fingers through my black hair, making it stick up at odd angles. I don’t know why I feel so responsible for this woman. I just know I do.
Having made the decision, I needed to act upon it so I didn’t have the chance to change my mind.
I linked with Steven, told him to send one of the pack ambulances to this hospital. Only saying that I needed transport home. I could feel Steven had more to say. But, like any good and loyal Beta. He did as he was instructed.
A different nurse came bustling into the room, waving a load of paperwork in my face. Talking about hospital policy when it came to transferring patients to private facilities. Every few seconds, I found my eyes drifting over to watch Juls, I signed what I needed to sign, then the nurse was gone. I had filled out my financial information without a second thought. Ticking all the boxes. Dotting all the i’s and crossing all the t’s. The only thing that was left to do, was sit and wait for my pack to arrive.
I watched the beautiful woman, her blonde hair was spread out over the pillow. And I couldn’t help but wonder what it would feel like draped over my arm as I held her. How her body would feel, snuggled up to mine as we both came back to earth, having just had the most amazing orgasms.
I dropped her hand like it was a red hot stone and jumped up from the chair. I felt hot all over and the ache in my cock was making me feel ill tempered. Thank the Goddess, that the door opened and I saw my Beta enter, followed by a couple of the hospital staff.
Steven, Stood by my side as two nurses arrived to help with the transfer. What only seemed like minutes, instead of the hour it actually took, Juls was placed, with extreme care, into the back of my pack ambulance. I was about to climb in as well, when Steven asked where he should send the transport. I looked at him, surprise clearly written on my face. Then answered. ‘Home. We are taking her home.’
