Chapter 17
***Julia POV (cont)***
He came back towards the bed, a look of wonder on his face. As if I were the most precious thing in the world to him. He continued to stare at me, until the nurse, who was still in the room with us, knocked over my water glass. His eyes. Now the emerald colour, shot to the nurse and a deeper, more dense voice left his mouth. ‘Get Doctor Wallace. Quickly!’ He barked and the nurse scurried off. A frightened ‘yes, Alpha.’ Leaving her as she left the room.
It only seemed to take seconds, before Doctor Wallace came hurrying into the room.
‘Alpha, what’s wrong? Is Juls ok?’ Dr Wallace asked, flustered.
The Alpha turned from me with a bright smile on his face and addressed the Doctor, ‘Nothing is wrong. Nothing at all, Jeremy. I was right. We have finally found her. She is home.’
The nurse, who had returned, fell to her knees, next to my bed. Tears running down her face. Doctor Wallace stumbled, then bent down on one knee. The Alpha stood up straighter as he looked at me.
Pride, radiating from every pore of his being.
‘My lady!’; left all their mouths. I looked at each person in the room. One crying, on her knees. One bending on one knee, with his neck exposed, and one, the main one, standing there. Looking at me like he had found the rarest gem in the world.
Pain, exploded within my head. I gripped it, digging my nails into my temple. I screamed out. Crying, as the pain started to radiate from every part of my body. Every bone, every muscle, every vain that ran through my body seemed to be on fire. The pain of it all, was too much.
I writhed around on the bed, not seeing anything, other than a red mist that seemed to have descended, obscuring my vision.
I could hear shouting, but I know not, who had made the sound. I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my arm. And felt the chill of the sedative spread through my arm and into my system. The writhing stopped. The screaming stopped. The pain stopped. As I closed my eyes, and fell into the dreamless sleep, that only a strong sedative can give you.
***Strange Alpha POV***
‘Alpha, what do we do now?’ Asked Jeremy. He sounded excited, but nervous. I could understand why. After all these years. Looking for them. Trying to find out anything I could, as to where they had gone.
It was strange. I knew that Alpha Maximus had rescued them. Leaving me for dead, I might add. He was the first stop on my journey, once I had been elected Alpha of my pack. He was very unhelpful. And would not allow me to look over his territory. Something I found out about most of the packs I had searched. Though, I had not had any feeling at all, when I visited the packs. I could not sense my pack mates. I could never sense my Luna, the heir and the other one.
But that didn’t stop me from trying. When I was elected Alpha, I was faced with many challenges. I was challenged, every week, from my own pack members; to random warriors from packs that had heard of our amazing Alpha Michael’s demise. And my election into the role meant a free for all.
I beat off every challenge. I became wiser after every win. I became stronger after every win. I earned my place as Alpha and I was proud that I could serve the high council and carry on my Alpha’s work, as an enforcer, and as a partner in the company that Alpha Michael and Alpha Maximus had set up, all those years ago.
I had a more active roll in the business. Where as my Alpha had been the book worm, I was now the main enforcer. And Alpha Maximus became the one who worked from home. As he had a family of his own. A son. I knew Jackson. Not very well. He always seemed to be a bit wet. And I tended to stay away from werewolves like that.
My pack, grew in numbers. Wolves from the surrounding packs started asking to join us. And not only the local packs. I am proud to say I have wolves from all over the world in my pack. My warriors are the highest trained, most fierce and feared warriors in any pack.
My warriors started to outnumber those of the Moons Wane Pack. Purely because my warriors were trained differently. Deadlier. It was because of my deadly way of training my elite, I had earned the nickname, The Reeper. Because, if I was put on a case. I would find my prey and, if it was warranted, I would get what I needed, one way or the other. Some people call me cold hearted. I’m not. To those I love, I am different.
To her, well. Now she was back, it will change everything. For the better.
‘Jeremy, now we begin to build her strength. I know Onyx is there. I can feel her now. But she is extremely weak. And I am very, very upset at that.’
Jeremy looked at me, waiting for me to say something else. When I didn’t he nodded at me and walked back into Julia’s room.
I linked with Steven and told him to meet me in my office. He was waiting outside for me, when I arrived.
I strode in to my lair, as the omega’s who cleaned the pack house, called it. Gesturing for Steven to sit.
I sat, behind my desk, in my chair. My long legs pushing slightly, so I rocked.
‘Alpha, you wanted to see me?’ Steven asked, genially.
I nodded. Then lent forward and rested my elbows on my large, mahogany desk. This desk had been past down from Alpha, to Alpha. It had been mine for more than ten years now. I let out a deep breath, ‘Steven, what I am about to tell you, must stay a secret. Do you swear to me that you will be able to keep this information to yourself? Not even telling your mate?’
Steven looked affronted, as I knew he would. He was excellent at his job as my Beta. I didn’t have any doubt, but as Alpha, I needed the words, spoken in this room. To bind them to us.
‘Alpha, you know you do not need to ask this of me, I have pledged my life to you and this pack. Anything you tell me, in confidence, will never leave my lips.’ Steven sat up a little straighter as he said this.
I smiled then explained. ‘As you know, when I brought the human home, I had a gut feeling about her. As to what she really was. Through the test that Jeremy ran, we found out that she was in fact one of us, she just didn’t have a wolf. Something I argued against, strongly disagreeing with Jeremy, and you.’
Steven bowed his head then asked again why I had called him here, when he already knew this information.
‘Because, the human/. She-wolf that I found that day. Is not called Juls. I now know her name.’
Steven’s eyes widened in surprise at my words, but nonetheless had a soft smile on his face, ‘Juls, ah sorry, the she-wolf has woken up? You have spoken to her?’
I nodded, slowly, hoping I get the next words out of my mouth right, Steven had been the previous Beta, after all.
‘The She-wolves name is Julia Mason, Steven. I was right. We have found her.’
Steven jumped out of his seat, he stalked over to the large window that overlooked the private garden, that belonged to the Alpha and Beta’s family. He spun around quickly, tears in his eyes.
‘You’re sure, it’s her. You’re sure its my little Ju Ju.’ He said, his voice cracking as he said his pet name for her.
‘I am positive now, Steven. She is Alpha Michael’s daughter. And however the Goddess did it, she brought her home to us. But we must keep this quiet, for now.’
Steven was nodding so much he looked like a bobblehead, ‘yes, yes of course. No one can know she is here. Not yet. Our Lady, being back, is something that will shake our whole world, and that of the other packs in the land. Can I see her, Alpha. Please?’
I understood why he asked this, he had known Julia since the day she was born, and had a special relationship with the special pup. But I couldn’t allow this, not yet. I explained what had happened in the hospital room and thankfully, Steven understood completely.
‘Do you think, that whatever wall had been erected within her mind, broke? Was that the pain she went through?’ I could see the thought of Julia being in pain, caused Steven pain. But I agreed with him.
‘Yes, I do. Whatever that was. It was significant enough to cause her immense pain. It almost looked like the first shift we go through as wolves. And that brings me to my next point. There is a wolf inside her, I can feel her now. She is very weak, and I cannot contact her. But she is there, Steven. I believe we may have Onyx back!’
Steven clapped his hands together, then fell upon his knees, thanking the Goddess. He was a crying and laughing mess. But I could not recall a time I had ever seen such a look upon his face. His special pup had come home, with the grace of the goddess. I saw the years fall away from his face, as he rejoiced in the news I had just given him.
The heir to the Blood Oath Pack was finally home!
