Chapter 20

***Alpha Maximus POV***

After my little impromptu speech, my Beta and Gamma had to drag Jackson up the stairs, to his room. And pack for him, in readiness of the long trip that would begin tomorrow morning.
I felt a pair of delicate, yet strong arms, sneak around my waist, as Lilian pressed herself into my back. Hugging me, from behind. I clasped her small hands in mine. We stood like that for an age. Just enjoying each others company. After a while, I spun her in my arms and claimed her mouth. Parting her closed lips with the thrust of my tongue.

Hearing my mate, moan deep within her throat, was a huge turn on for me. I kept ravishing Lilian’s mouth as I walked her, backwards, in the direction of my desk. Lilian smiled against my mouth as she realised what I was doing. I knew how much she enjoyed what was about to happen. A throaty groan left her as her arse bumped into my desk. I lifted her with ease. Placing her upon my desk, as I stood between her legs.

Lilian grabbed at my shirt, tearing it in the process. I heard her little giggle as she tore at my shirt, and that was all it took. I ripped the panties off her and in one hard thrust, entered her. Making us both cry out.
My thrusts hit her spot, every time and pretty soon we were bot on the edge of cumming. I pulled her up, into a sitting position so I could once again claim her lips. I felt her come undone in my arms, which propelled me into my own orgasm.

Once both our breathing returned to normal. Lilian stood up, righted herself and smiled, happily at me. ‘What was that for, my love.’ She asked. Still breathless from our sexual encounter.
I held her cheek in my palm as I kissed her lovingly. ‘I merely wanted to say thank you for having my back, in the meeting. I know I have done many foolish things,’ I could not say another word, as one slender finger pressed against my lips.

‘I will always have your back, my love. Be it in a meeting or on a battle field, you can count on me. Always.’
She kissed my lips lightly and walked out of my office. Heading upstairs, no doubt to supervise the packing.

***Alpha Reece POV***

‘Our lady is ready to be discharged. Do you know where she will go? To the village or ….?’
He stopped talking when he saw the look on my face. ‘Our lady, will be brought directly to the pack house. She will be given one of the rooms in my apartment, it is big enough. That way, I know she will be protected at all times.’

Jeremy stared at me for a few moments, clearly choosing wether to say something or not. He very wisely said nothing. As I turned to walk back to Julia’s room, Jeremy said quietly, ‘will you tell her now or when she gets to the pack house?’

I didn’t turn back to him, but just said one word, ‘Now.’ And strode away. Suddenly finding myself nervous about the conversation I was about to have.
The smile I receive, every time I enter this room, just about takes my breath away. She is so beautiful, even sitting in a hospital bed, she looked so regal.

‘How are you feeling, Julia?’ I asked, kindly. I took the seat next to her bed. ‘I was hoping to speak to you today, about an important subject. If you are feeling up to it, of course,’ I was looking at her, intently. I received another smile, then a soft, ‘of course, Alpha.’

No matter how many times I had asked Julia to call me Reece, she would always call me Alpha. I left it, of course. After all, Julia may feel differently when I tell her what she needs to know.
‘I know your memory has been sporadic. You’re still having flashes of memory, and I know that bigger sections are now settling in. But I need to tell you something.

The doctor, Jeremy, suggested that I speak to you about this over a matter of days. But I think it more prudent to tell you all now, whilst you are still an in-patient.’
Julia looked at me with rather an alarmed expression on her lovely face. ‘You sound so serious, Alpha. Have I done something wrong? Am I to leave the pack, as I am technically a rogue. I will totally understand if this is the case.’

I held my hands up in front of me, and Julia stopped talking. I should have realised her mind would go straight to this. I needed to start talking.

‘Julia, you have done nothing wrong. At all. Okay. Things, I’m afraid to say, have been done to you. Which meant you lived a life, that didn’t really belong to you.’
Julia looked even more puzzled than before, and I didn’t blame her. I wasn’t making a very good job of it. I needed to rip the band aid off, and just tell her.

‘Do you have any memories of your father?’ I enquired. Hoping for one answer and getting another.
‘I do, and I don’t. I know that sounds crazy, but I’m not. I know he was a great warrior. I know he loved us. And I know I was devastated when he was killed. That’s when my memory starts to get a little strange. You see, I remember running, being put into a car. But I can’t remember how old I was. I remember my mother, and how she grieved for my father. I remember having to go and find work, so I could buy food for my mother and sister. I remember not receiving my soul-sharer, and. How I cried after finding out I was wolf-less. And thinking, how I wished my dad was still alive so he could council me. Although, I cannot say for sure if he would have allowed me to stay a part of the family.’

Julia stopped then, I could hear the catch in her throat, I hated upsetting her. But I needed to know. What she knew. If anything, about her father. And from what she had just told me, Julia didn’t have a clue. Who her father was, who she is, and she clearly had no idea of the danger she had been in, being a part of that “family”, I ran my hand down my face, feeling the beard on my face a lot longer than normal. As was my hair.
I took Julia’s hand in mine, I felt the jolt of electricity shoot from my fingers, up my arm and into my heart. I could hear Raven, howling in my head. I knew what this meant. But, until Onyx returns, Julia would never feel the bond. I grasped her hand tighter for a moment, then started to explain.

‘My lovely lady, I know what I am about to explain to you, will upset you. But I want you to know that many people around here, are here to help you. You will not have to go through any of this on your own.’
I waited for Julia to nod her understanding, then I continued.
‘You know that Dr Jeremy and some of the nurses call you, “My Lady”.
Again, Julia nodded.

‘The reason they do this is, is because your father, Michael, was not just an amazing warrior. He was an Alpha! He was our Alpha! The Blood Oath Pack was almost wiped out in the attack that killed your father. All of our elders were killed that day as well.’

I stopped, so Julia could process what I just said. She sat quietly for a moment, then laughed out loud. She started coughing, as she was laughing so hard. I did not expect this reaction, I will admit.
I stood up and made to grab her water, Julia did the same motion, and the cup got knocked over, the full glass of water tumbled and spilled its contents all over Julia. That put any laughter to a stop. I was apologising profusely, while she squealed as the cold water hit her skin.

The nurse came running in, quickly followed by one of the younger Dr’s on staff. I could feel Raven stir, in my mind, as he watched the Dr walk over to Julia and ask if she was okay.
I’m sure she, was okay, unfortunately, her top half was soaked through and the thin hospital gown that she was wearing went quite see through. I could see her nipples puckering due to the onslaught of cold water that still trickled down her chest. Which was so clearly defined, it looked like she wore nothing.

And, if Raven and I could see it, so could everyone in the room. Including the young Dr.
The internal struggle that fired up inside me, raged on like nothing I had ever experienced.
Raven was beside himself. And his insistence that he take control and kill the younger wolf, was almost overwhelming. I had to excuse myself, right away. I was genuinely worried about my wolf.

I rushed out an apology, then bolted from the room. Most of the time Raven and myself worked in complete symbiosis. But at the moment I felt like I was being pulled in two directions.
We agreed to compromise, where Raven could come out and take control. But for everyone’s safety, we were going for a run before we attempted to walk back into Julia’s hospital room.

Whilst on the run we made the decision to get Julia home first. Before telling her the rest of her history, well, what we know of her history, any way. It was going to be difficult to listen to. But listen she must. I knew I was the Alpha of the Blood Oath Pack, but I had started to become aware of an energy transfer. I believe the legendary Onyx was finally waking up.

When that happened, Julia would be a full Alpha-Luna.
And would immediately have the loyalty of the pack. It wouldn’t even be a choice for the majority of our members. It would be instinctual. A force you could not counter.
I couldn’t wait to see it.

The oath that ran through all of my warriors was one that was deeply imbedded within their souls. We uphold the law of the council. We protect life; any life. We defend those who have no one to fight for them.
When we finally had Our Lady in her rightful place, none would defy the law. For fear of our pack.
