Chapter 38

As I no longer had an appointment to get to, I sat on the corner of the desk that was tucked in the corner of the room. I saw Reece’s eyes flash, before he looked away.
Feeling a little hurt at his reaction to me, and scolding myself for going too far last night, I once again looked at Richard.

“Please Richard.”

Richard smiled sadly at me, once again. He pulled up a chair and sat close to my knees, so I had to look down upon him. I thought the position was a strange one, but shrugged it off.

“Julia.” Richard began, softly. “My little, brave Julia. This morning I learnt something that changed the way I feel about certain people. I cannot go into detail about that right now. But I can tell you that, as of two hours ago, I am a full member of this pack. I asked, and Alpha Reece accepted my request.”

My hands flew to my mouth as I looked at my old friend, shock clearly showing on my face. I lowered a trembling hand, took a deep calming breath then asked..

“I shan’t ask you what, as you cannot say at the moment. But, I can ask why? Why you would make such a life changing decision as quickly as you had. You said yourself you only learnt…whatever; this morning. And yet you declare fealty to The Blood Oath Pack after living all your life in The Moons Wane Pack.”

I was dumbfounded. And a little irritated that he wouldn’t tell me the whole story. Then, I checked myself. I was nothing special. I had no right to question this man about fealty or anything else to do with his personal business. Although Dr Richard had helped me out as a child, had directed me to take medical training to the level I did, and had made sure that the lights stayed on at home and food filled the fridge. I was never personally close with him. And therefore, I would back off.

**Reece POV**

When I got the message from Jeremy this morning, I didn’t know what to do first.

Burst into Julia’s room, and hold her in my arms?

Or find Alpha Maximus and rip his fucking head off. Raven was all for that option. But I had to be better than that. So many of our laws had been broken, I could hardly comprehend what would happen next.

I took myself off for a run, I had too much pent up energy to do any work. Raven needed to run, so I let him take control.

It was whilst I was in wolf form I hit upon a scent I had never smelt before. I quickly found where it was coming from. It was a man. He was just outside our borders. And, he looked absolutely broken. It was because of this that I changed back. I grabbed a pair of shorts from one of the lockers dotted around the woods, and walked slowly toward the man.

He must have scented me, for as I approached, he looked up at me. Then fell upon his knees, to show I had nothing to fear from him.

It didn’t take me long to learn all I needed to. Who he was and why he was at my border, and not at another packs border.

There and then he broke fealty with his pack, and although I could see the snap of the fealty nearly kill him, he remained on his feet and ready to swear fealty to the Blood Oath Pack. After welcoming him onto my lands, we talked while we walked to the hospital.

I was under no illusion that Alpha Maximus would let this be. This man was his lead Dr, after all. We were half way back when my Gamma, Jeremy found us. I made the introductions and watched the two doctors interact for a few minutes. Before I asked why Jeremy had come to find me.

What Jeremy told me, matched up with Dr Richard Abanathie’s story.

We quickly came up with a plan to break the news to Julia. It was all about her, after all. I knew Julia had an appointment with Jeremy at 7:30am. So we decided to tell her during this appointment. Jeremy was just waiting on one more test. Then he would have the clarification he needed to present his evidence.

And now that time had come. Julia was here. I was here. As was Richard, all we needed for the meeting to start, was Jeremy. I knew that he was running late, so I suggested going to the break room for a cup of coffee.
Julia agreed, but glared suspiciously at me the whole way there.

Once we had our drinks,, we sat down by a round table, in the corner of the room. I figured when my Gamma would find us here, we could have the talk with Julia.
“I know I had an appointment, Reece. But I’m afraid that if Dr. Jeremy is much longer, I will have to start work.”

Richard looked up from his cup, where he had been staring morosely into for the last few minutes. “You work here? Doing what, if I may ask? Nursing or are you using your full training here?”

I watched as the cutest pink blush brushed Julia’s cheeks. She was so beautiful. My heart ached at the sight of her. Any time I spent with her was never long enough.
I arched my eyebrow at Richard’s words. “Full training.” I said, playing dumb.

I watched as her blush deepened and her small pink tongue darted out to moisten her dry lips. My eyes zeroed in on the small gesture and I felt myself going hard as rock, as the memory of her tongue and the way she kissed me, slammed into my body and soul.

My heart rate sped up, and I knew by the look on both their faces, they were both very aware of it.

**Julia POV**

I don’t think I could have blushed any deeper. Especially when Reece followed the movement of my tongue whilst I licked my dry lips. Somehow, I could sense his heart rate speed up. Was that normal for a wolfless woman?

I didn’t know, but I think its time to get some answers.

As I thought this, the break room door swung open. Dr. Jeremy, came barging through it.
“Good. You are all here. Please follow me to my office. We can speak privately there.”

We all followed as we were led to his office

When I saw Jackson sitting there, I became confused, and irritated. I didn’t want to see this man again. Why was he here, now! I could hear Reece enter the room behind me. There was one explosive growl and the next thing I knew, Jackson was half way up a wall, his feet dangling awkwardly, as Reece held him in place by his throat.

“What the fuck are you still doing here? I told you to leave and never return to my pack. I thought I made myself clear on the punishment for disobeying my order?”
