Chapter 17
Chad POV
Earlier this morning, immediately after breakfast, I had to tend to some urgent Alpha work.
After I was done, Sophie called me, and I connected the call.
"Hey, babe, what's up? I'm on my way home already," I said to Sophie on the phone, and I heard Mark groan.
"I just came back from the mall, and you aren't back home yet. Where did you go?" She asked, and I could tell she was upset.
"Sophie, you know I had to go to the pack house for Alpha duty, and you know how long it can take. I'm sorry I didn't come earlier," I told her, and she sighed.
"Whatever, just hurry up; this place is so boring without you, and I don't want your fat wife to start lecturing me about our relationship," she said irritably.
"Don't worry about my wife; she must be somewhere doing something boring and dumb with her swollen belly," I said to assure her.
She chuckled, and I smiled.
"I miss you; come soon, babe; I love you," she says so sweetly.
"I love you too, baby," I retorted, and she blew a kiss before disconnecting the call.
"Such a sweet soul," I said, setting my phone aside.
"I can't believe you, Chad," Mark said, shaking his head as if he were disappointed.
"Don't start, Mark; I'm not in the mood for your petty lectures." I know he'll start telling me that Sophie is a bad person, and blah blah blah.
"Tara doesn't deserve this, Chad; she's a pure soul, and you're cheating her; that's not fair," I groan.
"Don't tell me what to do, Mark!" I snapped at him.
"I should; I'm not only your beta but your friend, and what you're doing can cause consequences not just for you but for your family."
My grip tightens around the car's steering wheel. I finally got my happiness back with Sophie, and my best friend is asking me to break up.
"At least pity Tara; she's pregnant, and you show your love for Sophie in front of her; how do you expect her to feel?" he said.
"Shut up, Mark; I won't end my relationship with Sophie no matter what," I clenched my jaw.
He shakes his head and says, "Stop the car."
"What?" I asked out of confusion.
"Stop the damn car, Chad." I flickered my gaze at him as I saw anger written all over his face.
I pulled the car over, and he opened the car and enlightened me by jamming the door with a loud thud.
I drove the car without saying another word. I don't know why he always does this. Why does he care about Tara so much? He constantly fights with me because of Tara. This past few months, he hasn't talked to me that much because he's ashamed of the person I've become.
He'll come around eventually.
I parked the car, and I heard a loud scream from inside the house. My heart races as I run inside, thinking Sophie got hurt, but when I entered the living room, I saw Claire holding Tara and Sophie rolling her eyes at Tara.
Sophie hugged me immediately when she saw me.
"Bea, I think her water broke; she's about to labour," Sophie said softly, and I sighed.
"Now I have to take her to the hospital and execute the first part of my plan." I walked up beside Tara and supported her into the car.
She kept on shouting and crying, and I wished I had ripped out her tongue. Sophie trailed along, and Tara was in the back seat, crying in pain.
I pulled up at the hospital and called some nurses to come help her.
They rushed her inside, and I looked for the doctor I had already planned with, and he's going to be the one to deliver Tara's bastard baby.
They took Tara away, and I went to the doctor's office. He smiled, knowing I'm here to execute my plan.
We all walked to the room Tara's in, and Sophie held my arm.
"I'm going to repeat the plan, doctor," I said, and he nodded.
"Sure, go ahead."
"Give Tara an injection to make her fall unconscious so she won't be aware of her surroundings or whatever is going on, then you deliver the baby, and then you wake her up after you've taken the baby to where it's going to be killed," I said.
"Wow, Chad isn't that savage; I mean, killing a baby," Sophie said, and I eyed her.
"Since when did you care about Tara?" I asked.
"Ew, I don't care about Tara, just that the baby is innocent. Maybe you could make some other plans for the baby," she tried to reason with me.
"Sophie I don't need your opinion on my plan, so don't interfere; nothing must go wrong." I growl at her with a warning.
She pushed my hand and walked away. I'll deal with her after I'm done with my plan.
"What should we tell your wife?" the doctor asked as we stood in front of the room Tara's in.
"I'll be the one to break the news to her; I'll tell her that her child was born and died immediately because of his premature age." I subconsciously smiled, and we entered the room.
Tara was sweating like a pig, and I couldn't help but smile to see her in so much pain. All this pain will now go to waste. She shouldn't have slept with another man.
I went outside, and shortly I heard a baby cry. The nurses came outside with the baby.
"It's a baby boy."
"I don't fucking care." I snapped at her, and the baby kept on crying nonstop. "Take the baby away; it's noisy."
*****The nurse took the baby to the baby factory, where babies are sold and killed.
She dropped the baby in a baby cart and was about to take the baby to the room where babies were killed, but she bumped into another baby stroller when she wasn't focusing, and she accidentally switched the stroller with the baby that was supposed to be sold.
The nurse couldn't recognise the baby she was supposed to kill and the one she wasn't, so she decided to take the two strollers to where babies were to be sold.
