Chapter 33

Chad's obsession with reclaiming Tara had reached a boiling point. His desperation fuelled his determination, driving him to stop at nothing to win her back. He sought Selena's help, but she hesitated, her decision divided. She knew that if she was to follow Chad's plan, she could probably end up losing or winning her obsession, Gaston, for life, or worse, she could get herself in huge trouble.

Selena's highly nervous about Chad's new plan because it's very, very risky and could make Gaston question her actions.

"Chad, I understand your desire for Tara, but consider the risks," Selena warned, her eyes darting around the room. "Gaston won't hesitate to destroy anyone threatening his pack."

Chad's jaw clenched. "If you're worried I'll come across Gaston, then I'll handle him myself. You focus on the main thing, which is getting me into that house safely."

Selena's expression turned icy. "You're underestimating Gaston. He's not someone to trifle with." Her voice trembled, revealing her concern for Gaston's safety. She knew that Chad was slowly losing his mind for power.

Chad sneered. "You're just concerned about losing your precious Gaston."

Selena's face twisted in anger, but she composed herself. "Fine. I'll play along. But know this, Chad: if you harm Gaston, you'll regret it, and if by any chance you get caught, you better not mention my name." Her eyes flashed with a fierce protectiveness as she put on her hood.

That night, Selena sabotaged all security cameras and released a toxic air that knocked out the guards at the main gate entrance. Selena helped Chad sneak into Gaston's estate, Chad intending on manipulating Tara to accept him back as her husband.

"Don't tell me you're putting on the hood because you think someone will see us," Chad says annoyingly.

"Better safe than sorry," Selena replied.

They got in, and Selena departed from Chad as he infiltrated the mansion, avoiding security guards with ease. However, Gaston's guards proved more sophisticated than they anticipated.

"Hey, who are you and what are you doing here?" A guard approached Chad with a warning stance.

Chad knew he had gotten unnecessary attention.

"I'm a new guard here. I heard an unusual noise coming from here, so I came to check on it," Chad lied through his teeth.

The guard eyes him suspiciously. "I'm the head guard of the interior building, and I wasn't told we were getting a plus one, so you're lying; you're an intruder."

Chad clenched his teeth; a small guard rushed in.

"Sir, all the cameras are down. None is working," the small guard said rather fast. Selena came out of the shadows and hit the back of his head with a metal.

Before the head guard could turn to register what happened, Chad kicked his leg and knocked him down on the floor. He collected the metal from Selena and bashed his head time without number, making him fall unconscious.

Selena left, and Chad hid their bodies and continued his plan.

Chad followed Tara's scent like a hungry dog.

Gaston POV

It's been a while since I called Garfield, the head guard, and he's not here yet. I jam my open book closed. Garfield is never late, especially when I call him for duty. My eyes darted around as I clicked on the walkie-talkie button that allows me to communicate with Garfield.

"Garfield?" I called twice but got no response. "Damnit"

I stormed through the darkened hallway, my werewolf senses on high alert. An intruder lurked within my walls. My instincts led me to the east wing; Tara and Lucian are there. I found a tall figure sneaking into my home.

Without hesitation, I pinned him to the wall, my grip crushing.

"You dare enter my domain?" I snarled and chilled immediately when I saw it was Chad.

Chad struggled, but I held firm. He was about to bite my hand, so I threw him across the hall, and he fell on his face. I didn't let him recover from the fall when I pinned him to the ground.

Chad struggled madly, but I was stronger.

"Get off me, you jerk."

"You idiot, you thought you could enter my house and get out so easily? Now I'm going to ask you just once: what exactly did you come here for?" My grip tightened as my claw slowly dug into his skin.

"I came to take back what's mine after you stole her from me," he snarled. "I'm the only one who knows her value, and I'll put it to good use."

"Tara?" I asked. "Your sister you sold to me?"

"Tara's my wife, you fool," Chad spat. "I hated her more after you slept with her, and she didn't miss a chance to make me more disgusted after she got pregnant. She doesn't even know she was pregnant with your bastard. But I took care of it. I killed that darned baby."

My world froze. Shock coursed through my veins like ice. What the hell is this freak saying?

"Tara's your wife?" I repeated, stunned. "You said she's your sister and a sex worker?"

Chad's smile twisted. "You're so foolish, Gaston; you're not as smart as everyone said you were. I lied to you for money. Tara's not my fucking sister nor a prostitute; she's just an unfortunate wife. You get that? And yes, don't bother thinking about that baby because I killed it before she could even set her eyes on him."

My mind reeled. Tara, the woman I loved, was married to this monster?

"No," I whispered, my heart heavy. "I can't believe Tara went through all this hardship, and I was a huge part of it. I impregnate her."

Chad struggled more.

My fury erupted as I flipped him and punched him hard in the mouth, making it bleed. "You're wrong, Chad. The baby didn't die."

Chad's eyes were filled with confusion.

"I rescued the baby," I snarled. "And his mother, Tara, has been taking care of it all this time."

A gasp echoed from the hallway. Tara.

My head snapped toward the sound, and my gaze met Tara's.

Chad's face paled, realisation dawning.

"No," Chad whispered. "It can't be."

My attention wavered, distracted by Tara's presence.

Chad broke free from my grip, and he locked gazes with Tara's.

"My sweet Tara, I'll come back for you," Chad shouted, fleeing my mansion.

I wanted to chase after him, but my instincts screamed to protect Tara.

"Tara", I whispered, approaching her cautiously.

Tara's eyes searched my face, questions swirling.

"What did Chad mean?" Tara asked, her voice trembling.

My heart pounded. The truth would change everything.

But before I could answer, Chad's escape caught my attention.

"Security!" I roared, and a few guards rushed in; I still don't see Garfield. "Seal the perimeter! And find Garfield for me."

Tara's hand on my arm anchored me.

"Gaston, what's happening?" Tara asked.

I turned to her, my eyes locking onto hers.

"I'm going to tell you everything" I promised.

I feel so ashamed of myself.
