I tried relocating the switch but couldn't and i saw myself breathing fast

I've been waiting for some minutes, but nothing happened.

I turned towards the door, i really need to get out of here as fast as i could.

I was sneaking slowly and quietly, i don't want whosoever that offed the light to catch me.

I haven't gotten far when all of a sudden the light came on and i was trapped in my position.

I was really scared to my bone. Not until i heard giggling and whispers and a birthday song followed.

I stood up to look at their faces and then i dawned on me that they were actually the ones who did the preparations.

I really don't know if i should laugh or cry. Just some minutes ago, i thought i was gonna die and my spirit already left my body.
I'm recovering from the shock.


Nathan stepped down from the stairs and walked close to me.

"Did we scare you?" He asked using his hand to caress my hair as he put them behind my ears.

"You scared the hell out of me, i thought it was that creepy man th....." I stopped when i realized what i wanted to say.

He raised his brow, urging me to continue.
I glared at him very hard.

"What's that look for? He asked again but i wasn't ready to give any answer.

I looked through his shoulder and saw Luna and the rest already walking to our direction.

"Happy birthday Nessa" She said engulfing me into a brief hug.

"Thanks Luna" i sniffed. I really don't know when last i celebrated my birthday.

They all handed me their gifts one after the other.

I collected them with my smile not leaving my face. I could definitely feel my cheek getting sour from the unecessary laughing and smiling.

"Thank you all for making this day one of the most wonderful day in my life. I really can't thank you enough"

I left for my room as soon as i finished making the speech.

I'm already tired from the walking and dancing i was forced to do.
I tried explaining to the Luna that i can't dance, but she wouldn't hear of it.

I pushed the door open, only to find another box of gift on my bed with no name tag.

I dropped the rest of the gifts i was holding and went to take the one on my bed.

I wanted tearing it open but i really don't know what was inside.

"What if it is something dangerous? That means I'm gonna die on my birthday" My subconscious mind popped at me.

But being the stubborn person that i am, i tore the gift open.

There was nothing special inside, just a piece of paper that was neatly folded inside.

I picked it up and slowly opened it.

"I'M GRANTING YOU ONLY TWO DAYS TO LEAVE THAT MANSION OR I'M GONNA KILL YOU MYSELF. I DON'T REALLY WARN MY PREY. HAPPY BIRTHDAY"

I was so confused after reading the paper, i know Isabella wouldn't do this.
My mind suddenly went to that creepy bodyguard.

Beside, no one knew it's my birthday. I only told Deborah today and that creepy bodyguard was there listening to our conversation.

I'm very sure he kept this here. But who is he working for?.

Well this is just a mere threat and there's nothing him or anyone can do.

I tore the paper into tiny pieces and threw them into my dustbin. I wouldn't want Nathan or anyone to see this.

I pulled off my clothes and headed straight to the bathroom.

After bathing, i wore a light cloth. I could still feel the hotness in my body after reading that letter.

I headed downstairs just in time to hear a knock on the giant door.

I wanted going to check who it was but Nathan stopped me.

"Don't worry, I'm gonna take care of it" he said before walking to the door, Only for him to come back with an envelope. Not just an envelope but a royal one.

"Who was that?" The Luna asked.

"Just a messenger from Blue crystal pack" he replied flatly.

"Oh, and what do they want?" She asked again.

"They came to invite me for the royal ball and you know what that means" he said dejectedly.

"Nessa would go with you" She said looking at me.

"Where are we going to? It was my turn to ask some questions.

"To the Royal ball"

I've of the royal ball but I've never attended one cause i wasn't from a royal family and today Nathan has decided to take me along.

I couldn't contend the happiness that I'm feeling right now.

"So would you go to the royal ball with me?" He asked.

"You don't need to ask, I've being dieing to attend one but you know, I'm not from a royal family and today i would be going to one. I'm so so happy, i just wish mom was here to hear this good news.

"So when are we going?"

"Tomorrow" he said.

"Why wasn't it today?" I asked inwardly.

"Today we're gonna have all the time to get you what to wear" Nathan said.

Oops i actually forgot about that, the excitement made me forget about the dress I'm going to wear.

"Why don't you go in and get dressed so we can go to the mall and get something for you to wear" He offered.

I happily ran upstairs not minding their stares on me.

I got in and quickly changed into a knee length black gown. I really don't know why black is my favorite color and i'm definitely getting a black dress for the royal ball.

I brushed and packed my hair in a pony tail and finally applied a little power and lipgloss.

I took my little purse on the stand before scurrying downstairs.

"That was so fast, how did you do it?" The Luna asked as soon as i got there.

"Well i guess i was too excited"

"Okay that's enough, mom we need to go" Nathan said from behind me.

"Yes, you're right. It's getting late"

"Bye" I waved at her before walking out with Nathan.

Whilst in the car he kept stealing glances at me and I've caught him severally.

I turned to the window, looking at the towers as we drive pass them.

"Master, we are here" the driver said to Nathan.

"Yes, Nessa let's go" he turned to me, offering his hand for me to hold.

Why is he being a gentle man all of a sudden? Not like he wasn't a gentle man but his gentleness was too extreme today.

I held his hand as he led me out of the car.

We finally walked into the mall and i was left in awe. I've visited a lots of mall but never have i visited this mall. By mere looking at the dressing, i knew there could only be afforded by the wealthy ones.

"Why don't you go in and choose a dress instead of standing there like a statue" Nathan said behind me with sarcasm.

Why is he suddenly like this? Few minutes ago, he was looking at me like an Angel and now he's talking to me like I'm a kid.

I decided to act deaf to what he said as i walked to a section to choose a dress.

I haven't gone far when my eyes caught a black beautiful dress that was adore with black diamonds from the waist down to the end.

I instantly fell in love with he dress.
I turned to call Nathan, only to see him behind me.

"What's wrong with you? You scared the hell out of me" I growled at him.

"Where were you expecting me stand? He asked with an eye roll.

"I've seen the one i like" i told him.

"Where is it?" He asked and i pointed at the black diamond gown.

He called the sales girl to package the gown.
I stopped to look at him.

"What's that look for? He asked.

"You haven't asked for the price yet".

"That's none of your business".

"Why are you asking this way" I asked when i knew i won't be able to take that anymore.

"You couldn't even say a thank you to me for offering my hand to you in a car" he said.


"Really? Is that why you're acting like a two year old kid whose candy was snatched from him?" I burst into laugh.
