Chapter 12
A week had passed since the incident and it still managed to haunt me every night. I literally have nightmares every time I close my eyes and I wake up with sweat dripping down my body and tears streaming down my face. I've hidden this from everyone else and I've been pretending to be okay because I don't want to ruin this whole trip for Bree. I couldn't be selfish that way. But I'm not okay, I feel like I'm dying inside. On the outside though, I looked okay. Well, at least better. The bruises on my face had almost faded to nothing and I used make up whenever I felt the need.
Luckily, I barely wear my feelings on my face.
We were currently giggling and laughing as we shopped in a mall. It was like the fifth place we had stepped foot in today.
Her father had given us his card to get anything with. Yes, it is one of those cards. Seriously, the lives of rich people marveled me. A black card with no spending limit. I barely know how to handle the opportunity. Bree keeps telling me to get anything I want. Since we stepped foot out of the house, the only thing I've pointed to is a bath gel. The other things were basically chosen for me by Bree.
Bree, on the other hand, was happy to spend his money. There was no spending but she would have loved to max his card out. She saw it as a way to make him feel pain but I'm sure he didn't feel a pinch and wouldn't no matter how much she spent. But, I would never say that to her. I would always support her and if rage shopping made her feel better, then so be it.
So, she was basically picking anything she set her eyes on. It was nice to see, really.
"I'm not sure what you need dog shampoo for Bree, you don't have one" I said, my confusion obvious.
She shrugged.
"Well, maybe I'll get one" she said and I blinked in confusion.
"You are one crazy woman, Briana Miller" I said and she giggled.
"Why, thank you" she said with a glint in her eyes.
I laughed and shook my head at her.
The rest of the day went by in a long shopping blur. By the time we returned home, I was so glad I was going to see a bed. I was beyond exhausted. I was still on meds so that explained the excessive tiredness.
After thanking Jason and successfully avoiding Polina, I made my way to my room. Don't get me wrong, she was amazing and warm and fun to talk to, but damn, did she talk my ears off. And that was not what I needed at the moment.
So I hurriedly made my way up the stairs. Finally, I reached my room and opened the door.
Imagine my shock when I walked in on Violet just standing in the middle of my room. My hand flew to my chest in fright as I tried to calm down.
"Jesus, Violet! What the hell are you doing here?! You scared the living daylight out of me" I said, as I panted slightly for air.
She crossed her arms over her chest with a smirk on her face. A stupid smirk that irked me to the core.
"Sorry, didn't mean to scare you" she said non chalant with a half shrug.
I narrowed my eyes at her.
"Right. So, what are you doing in here?" I asked again and she smiled. Fake. Fake. Fake.
"I can step into anywhere I want to in this house. Unlike you. Limited to certain places. You have no right to question me" she said and I clenched my fists by my side.
"Ah, I see. But I thought you were Jason's P.A, not the housekeeper" I said and she scoffed.
"Are you trying to insult me?" She asked and I frowned as I stepped inside the room.
"Absolutely not. I can never use another person's profession to insult you" I said and shrugged.
"Right. Anyway, I'll get going now" she said and I almost laughed.
"Not so fast, Violet," I said, stopping her in her tracks.
"You are going to tell me exactly what you were doing here or I'll go to Jason's office right now and tell him exactly what just happened" I said, and I meant every word. I didn't have time for her bitchy attitude and I wasn't going to tolerate it any longer.
"And what is that?" She asked and I sighed.
"Well, how would I know what was happening before I walked in? Maybe you were trying to steal from me or maybe you were trying to plant something in here to get me in some trouble or something. Oh, how will I ever know?" I said dramatically.
"None of those things happened" she said and I shrugged.
"Did they not?" I asked and she scowled, looking like she was about to burst.
"Well, I guess Jason will be the judge of that" I said as I sighed and turned around, aiming to leave the room and go back to meet Jason. A very large part of me prayed she took the hair and stopped me because I was genuinely so tired.
"Wait" she said, stopping me in my tracks. Well, what do you know? The almighty Violet took the bait.
I turned around and she gave me a sly smile. A chill ran down my spine. What was she up to this time?
"You should be the scared one" she said and I raised a brow.
"What do you mean?" I asked and she stretched her hand out, holding up a bracelet I had never seen in my life.
I cocked my head to the side in confusion.
"What's that?" I asked and she smiled.
"It's a very expensive bracelet that Jason got Bree recently but she hasn't worn it. It's made of diamonds and emerald stones. You stole it" she said and I took a solid step back.
"What the hell are you talking about? I didn't steal anything" I said, anger slowly building up in my veins.
"Oh, don't you dare lie. I found it in one of your purses. And I was only retrieving it" she said and that was when I figured out what was happening.
She was lying. She was trying to frame me. But then, that's only because I caught her, so what was she trying to do before?
My brain was working at the speed of light as she smirked and started to walk out.
And then, boom. I figured it out.
"If I stole it, then tell me, Violet, how did you know where to get it from? You're never with me and Bree and she did not complain about anything going missing. Unless, you stole it from her and came in here to steal whatever you can" I said and she froze.
I was way too tired of the back and forth.
"Who do you think Jason will believe?" She asked and I crossed my arms over my chest.
"You tell me" I said and she went quiet for a bit before she groaned.
"I'll return the bracelet and you'll keep your disgusting mouth shut" she said angrily and without giving me a chance to say anything, she stormed out.
Violet 1-1 Andy. I finally evened the grounds.
I closed the door and sighed in relief. I really should learn how to lock my door whenever I'm going out. The bitch obviously wants my downfall. I didn't understand why but she obviously desperately did.
