Chapter 45
Andy's POV
It had been a few days since the whole Rosalie and Peter drama that had ended with them leaving shamelessly, none of them had approached us since then and I was quite content with it. I was sitting in my room reading the last chapters of the book I had started.
After a few minutes, I was finally done with the book and a bittersweet feeling settled over me. The book had been keeping my mind occupied and now that I was finally done with it, I had nothing else to look forward to. I closed the book and rested my head against the headboard as everything I had read in the book flashed through my head as a smile made its way to my face.
Bree entered my room without knocking and plummeted on the bed, bouncing on it as she turned to face me.
“You are done with that big book already?” She asked as her face morphed into a surprised expression, her voice reflecting the look on her face.
I nodded.
“Yes, I am and now it feels like I have nothing else to do with my life,” I said, an amused smile lacing my lips.
Bree laughed.
“You and books, seriously.” She shook her head in disbelief.
“Since you now feel like you don’t have anything better to do, I’m going to take you to the best and biggest library you have ever seen. I’m sure it would be heaven-like for you. Nerd.” she said.
My eyes lit up at that and I sat up.
“A huge library? For real?” I asked and she nodded.
“Yup,” Bree confirmed, a satisfied grin spreading across her face.
“I figured it’s the least I can do, considering how obsessed you get with your books.” she said and I almost squealed.
I beamed at her, already imagining myself getting lost among endless shelves filled with stories, secrets, and everything in between. It sounded like a dream.
“When are we going?” I asked.
Bree tilted her head, thinking. “Tomorrow evening?.”
“That works,” I agreed eagerly.
“Yeap,” she said as she nodded.
“I can't wait! Thank you” I said appreciatively.
She rolled her eyes at me.
Her phone rang at that exact moment and she excused herself. Since I had nothing to do and Bree was occupied, I decided to get some sleep. I was quite groggy.
I relaxed and soon enough, I was enveloped in the sweet embrace of sleep.
It was evening already when I woke up and I was feeling hungry. I sat up, rubbed the sleepiness away from my eyes and made my way downstairs to get something to eat. I was starving.
When I got to the kitchen, Polina was already cooking something up and it smelled heavenly. Just as I made my way to sit, Bree showed up too with a big smile on her face.
I perched on a barstool by the counter, watching Polina work, my heart still buzzing with the excitement of Bree’s promise. But then Bree slipped onto the stool next to me, a playful glint in her eye.
“Sooo,” she drawled and I rolled my eyes at her attempt to put me in suspense. “I’m going on another date with Dominic tomorrow.”
I blinked in surprise, processing her words. Then I practically jumped in my seat. “Finally!” I cheered. “It’s about time you just went for it.”
Bree grinned, but I could see a flicker of hesitation beneath her excitement.
“You’ve decided to just roll with it?” I asked.
She shrugged. “Yeah… Might as well. He was the one who called me earlier and I realized I really enjoyed talking to him and being in his presence.”
“That’s great!” I said enthusiastically. But then it hit me, and I leaned forward, lowering my voice. “Wait a second. Have you forgotten what we were supposed to do tomorrow? You promised to take me to the library.”
Bree’s eyes widened as she took in my words. “Shit!”
I let out a small laugh at her expense, she was so hooked up on Dominic that she had forgotten about her plans with me.
Bree groaned. “I totally forgot about the library,” she confessed, confirming my thoughts. She ran her hand over her face in frustration.
“Since I promised you first, I would just cancel with Dominic. No big deal. I promised you” she said.
What? No!
I shook my head quickly. “No, Bree, don’t cancel your date because of me. It’s not that serious.”
But Bree was already shaking her head in return, resolute. “No way. I made a promise. And Dominic can wait.”
I could not let her cancel her date because of me and I tried to make her understand but she was not budging. We were now arguing back and forth on why she should just drop it and go for the date and I could feel myself getting frustrated from her stubbornness.
While we were still arguing, Jason walked into the kitchen and looked between the both of us, his eyes filled with questions.
“What are the both of you even arguing about?” He asked as he walked closer to us.
Bree looked at her, her frustration written clearly on her face. “I made plans with Andy to take her to the library tomorrow, but I also have a date tomorrow. Now, she won’t let me cancel on him.”
Jason glanced at me, a small smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “I can take her.”
Immediately he said those words, everywhere became silent and I was surprised that he had even offered to take me.
“You honestly don’t have to worry about it,” I said to him awkwardly.
“I don’t mind,” Jason replied casually as he shrugged.
I opened my mouth to say something but Jason raised a brow, and Bree gave me a pointed look, her expression practically screaming, ‘Don’t you dare decline his offer’.
“Please,” Bree said, dragging out the word with a mischievous grin. “Don’t make me feel guilty about this. Just go with him, okay? It’ll be fun.”
I sighed, torn between wanting to let Bree off the hook and not knowing how to feel about Jason’s involvement. But when I glanced at Bree’s hopeful expression, I knew I couldn’t ruin her excitement.
“Fine,” I finally relented with a small smile. “But only because I don’t want you to miss your date.”
Bree clapped her hands together.
“Perfect! Thanks, dad. You’re the best.” she said and a small smile tugged at my lips. Things were really better between them.
