Chapter 54
Andy's POV
I was laying on the bed as I stared at my phone in my hand. I was reading the messages between Jason and I. We had been texting and at first, it was just to check in on me but for the past few days now, it had migrated from being innocent to being flirty… a lot of flirting was going on between us.
A message flashed across my screen as I was about to put it down, I checked it and saw that it was a message from Jason just like I had expected.
Jason: How about we go out? Just us. A real date.
I bit my lips as I tried to stifle my smile while staring at the message. The thought of being alone with him on a date made me happier that I had ever thought it would but I was also hesitant. This wasn’t just some random guy asking me out. It was Jason- Bree’s dad. I started typing a response.
Me: Uhm…
Before I could finish, another message arrived.
Jason: It’s fine if you don’t want to. I get it.
I quickly hit backspace and replied.
Me: No, it’s not that. But… what about Bree?
I kept on looking at my phone as I waited for why he was going to say. My pulse had quickened had my heart was pounding in my ears, it felt like it was taking forever for him to reply but it had only been a few seconds. After a while, his reply finally came in.
Jason: We’ll go when Bree’s out with Dominic. No one will know.
I let out a small sigh of relief even if a hint of terror was still in me.
Me: Okay… fine. But what if someone sees us?
His reply was instant.
Jason: No one will. We’ll go somewhere far from here. No one will know us there”
A strange thrill ran through me as I read his words. The idea of sneaking around was dangerous but exhilarating. Maybe that was what had me hooked- this secret, this thing I had with Jason that no one else knew about. I bit my lip, hesitating for a second before sending my final message.
Me: Alright. When?
Jason: Don’t worry about that. Anytime Bree goes out.
I read the message and realized that Bree had told me she was going to hand out with with Dominic the next day. Perfect timing, apparently.
The next day came too fast. Bree came to bid me farewell as she headed out of the house to Dominic’s, they were hanging out at his house today.
I wished her luck and laid back in bed as I picked one of the books I had gotten at the library the other day and started reading it. I didn’t know when I fell asleep but when I woke up, it was almost evening and my phone beeped almost immediately with a message.
Jason: We should head out soon. Dress casually and try to be ready by 8.
I immediately got up, took a quick shower and dressed up in my favorite pair of jeans and a cute cropped top to go with it. Nothing fancy. Noticing that would draw attention.
I was still fixing my hair up when I heard a knock on my door.
“I’ll wait for you downstairs,” Jason said and before I could reply, he already walked away.
I checked myself out in the mirror once more before I left my room and made my way downstairs. When I got out of the house, Jason was leaning against the car and he looked so good in the shirt and jeans he was wearing.
I walked over to him, my heart racing. I felt a bit conscious but he smiled at me, his eyes twinkling and it calmed me immediately.
You look amazing” he said and I blushed.
“Thank you. You do too” I said and he smiled.
“Ready to go?” He asked in that smooth sexy voice of his.
I gave him a nod and I entered the car as he opened the door for me. He got into the car and started it and as we drove out of the house, I spoke up.
“Where are we going?”
Jason smirked. “You’ll see.”
We drove for a while before we finally got to our destination. It looked like a playground and I was quite surprised. I took in the place and saw that it was empty except for the already rusting swings and slides. Only a few people were walking around.
Jason pulled over at a corner of the road and turned to look at me. “I used to bring Bree here when she was little. Back then, this place was bustling with kids, families, you name it. But now… not so much.”
I looked around, taking in the empty swings and the long slide that seemed to have seen better days. The air felt peaceful and it looked deserted.
“There is really almost nobody here,” I let out, my voice coming out quieter than I had intended.
Jason chuckled. “That is the point. Nobody would see us here and if they did, it wouldn't be the people we know.”
At his words, I felt tension leave my body as I visibly relaxed. He came closer to me and held my hand in his. Immediately our bodies came into contact with each other, I felt tingles spread all over my body and my face heated up.
We finally got out of the car.
We walked together, hands intertwined, just talking- about things we loved, about old memories. It felt so natural, even though my mind kept reminding me how wrong this should feel. But when Jason held my hand, I forgot all about that.
It felt so nice.
Everytime he looked at me, I could feel my body heat up and my pulse quicken, there was just something about the way he looked at me. Without warning, he stopped and I followed suit. I was about to ask why when he turned to look at me with an unreadable expression.
He leaned down to me, his lips just a few inches away from mine and for a second, I didn’t know how to breathe. I felt the world spin as I leaned towards him too, instinct taking over.
But before our lips could touch, my senses came back and I pulled away from him, taking a few steps back.
“Jason, what do you think you are doing?” I asked, my voice shaking. “People could see.”
Jason didn’t seem fazed. A smile made its way to his lips as he looked at me with soft eyes.
“Would you please calm down?” He asked with a smooth voice. “No one can see us. Look around. There’s no one here.”
I hesitated, glancing around. It was true- there were only a few people in the distance, far from where we were standing. But still… It felt risky.
Jason took a step closer, his eyes locked on mine. “I promise,” he whispered. “You don’t have to worry.”
I wanted to trust him. So I did and I allowed him to take my hand again, he pulled me closer and leaned down to touch his lips with mine. The kiss was as amazing as always and I felt myself getting lost in them but he pulled away and gave me a small kiss on my forehead.
We held hands again as we walked to get ice cream from the truck that was nearby. We sat on a bench and ate the ice cream while laughing and talking about the most random things. I was so happy, it didn’t feel like I was forcing things with him, it was all too natural.
When we finally finished with the ice cream, it was getting late so we decided to head back home and I said a small prayer, hoping Bree was not back yet.
When we got to the house, the lights were off and everywhere was silent. I let out a small sigh of relief as I realized my prayers were answered and Bree was not home yet. I said goodnight to Jason as I made my way to my room. I was still all smiles as I opened the door and fell on the bed.
I got out of my clothes and just as I was about to settle into bed, I heard my phone buzzing. I smiled thinking it was a message from Jason but as I opened it, it was a message from an unknown number. A picture more specifically.
I opened it and at first I could not see what it was, but when I zoomed in on it and brought it closer to my face, my heart fell to my stomach. My clothes, my hair, Jason.
Shit.
My breath got caught in my throat as I realized it was a picture of when Jason and I were kissing.
What the…
