Chapter 51
Bree’s POV
After Andy finally pulled me away from the window. She dragged me to the couch and I leaned back against the couch, feeling a satisfied sense of ease after my date with Dominic. Andy sat beside me, eyes wide with curiosity, clearly waiting for every little detail. Her excitement was enough for me to push my worries away and focus on her.
“Alright, I know you are dying to hear everything,” I said to her as a smile made its way to my face.
“It was… fine. Actually, it was better than fine. It was good.”
Andy raised an eyebrow.
“Just good? Come on, Bree, you’re holding back on me. I need details. What did you guys do? Where did you go?”
I smiled, trying to collect my thoughts as I replayed the evening in my mind.
“Well, we went to this bistro. Oh my goodness, it has the best meals. We had dinner there and the food was amazing. When we were done eating, we took a walk and just talked about everything and nothing. And I don’t know how but, I just felt like I had known him for a long time and it was… very comfortable.”
Andy leaned in, hanging on to every word. “So, how was the vibe? The chemistry? Any sparks flying?”
I grinned, though I knew the answer wasn’t what she might expect. “Well, honestly? We haven’t really been physical at all. No kissing, nothing like that. Well at least, not yet”
Andy blinked at me, surprised. “Wait, nothing? But isn’t this your second date? Wow, color me surprised”
I nodded with a smile. “Well, contrary to what I said the other day, I don’t really mind anymore. It feels so good to get to know him and not just jumping into things and having sex with him,” I said to her and I could see her confusion.
“Plus I told him I would actually like for us to take things slowly and he was on board. He’s totally fine with it. He actually said he’d prefer it that way too,” I added
Andy looked thoughtful for a moment before nodding. “Okay, I can respect that. It’s nice that he’s not pushing you or anything.”
“You get it,” I let out.
“Plus it’s so nice to finally have some change. He really wants to know me for me and not just fuck like every other guy and it’s making think through the whole not committing to one guy thing.”
Andy gave me a warm smile. “That sounds really healthy, Bree. I am so happy for you. It’s good that you finally have someone that wants you and wants to get to know you well before anything else.”
I gave her a small nod, happy to know she was on the same side as me.
“Thank you. Although, I still have some doubts about him but then again, I just love spending time with him and talking about different things. He’s fun, smart, easy to talk to, ambitious and not shallow or spoiled like most guys I’ve met. He’s like the perfect gentleman.”
Andy grinned. “A gentleman, huh? Well, that’s a nice change of pace from your usual type.”
I laughed, knowing she was right. “I know! He is absolutely different from them, those boys can’t even compare to the man Dominic is. He is serious, business minded and gentle plus he’s hot, what more can I ask for? I guess I’m learning to appreciate that.”
Andy leaned back against the couch, her expression softening.
“Look at you praising a man and smiling while at it. You deserve someone like him and I can’t wait for you both to get serious.”
“Thank you, Andy,” I said as my smile became even bigger than it was.
“I’m so jealous of you,” Andy squealed, excitement written all over her.
“I will live vicariously through you from now since my love life is basically in shambles.”
I frowned, leaning closer.
“Oh come on,” I said to her as I rolled my eyes.
“Don’t say something like that, it sounds like you’re just giving up.” I said.
She gave me a small, awkward smile before she spoke up.
“That’s not what… never mind. I’m not just ready to be in a relationship or anything.”
I rolled my eyes at her again.
“Peter was an absolute asshole who never deserved you from the start. And honestly, I’m so happy he messed up and is in the past. You should not let how that fool treated you stop you from giving love another chance.”
Andy sighed again.
“Okay, I would think about it and just move on to the next chapter, I guess.”
I smiled at her, happy that she had listened to me. I moved closer to her and squeezed her shoulder lightly.
“You will soon find the perfect one for you. Trust me. You just have to give yourself time.”
Andy gave me an awkward smile and I could see that she was thinking about something. But before I could ask her what was going on in her head, the front door opened and I expected it to be my dad.
What exactly was taking so long anyway?
But then, when we turned to look at who it was, it was someone else.
Violet.
She came to meet us where we were sitting and looked between the both of us with curiosity in her eyes.
“What are you guys talking about?” She asked enthusiastically as she sat down on the couch across from us.
Both Andy and I shared a look as we were both surprised that she wanted to engage in a conversation with us. Andy sat up straighter, offering Violet a polite but strained smile. Weird.
“Oh, just girl talk,” I said with a shrug, trying to keep things casual. “We were talking about how my date went and, you know, the usual.”
Violet’s eyes lit up even more. “Ooh, a date? Spill the tea! How did it go? Was he cute? And… ummm, you know”
I laughed softly, shaking my head. “It was good, but nothing of the sort yet. We’re taking things slow, getting to know each other better.”
Violet pouted playfully. “No? You’re stronger than me, Bree. I don’t think I could wait that long.”
I chuckled. “I don’t mind, honestly. It’s nice to just take my time and figure things out.”
Violet leaned back, crossing her legs as she gave us both a thoughtful look. “Well, you’re probably right. Better to make sure he’s worth it before getting too invested.”
“Exactly,” I agreed, nodding. “No need to rush into anything.”
As Violet continued to chat, I couldn’t help but glance over at Andy. She’d been quiet again, her expression distant, like she was lost in her own thoughts. I didn’t know what she was thinking about so I just guessed it was about Peter and I hoped she was finally going to put everything in the past.
