Chapter 23: the strange knock

Lucas rush to the bedside and saw Ariel unconscious with her hair falling over her face. He was so worried that he don't know what to do.
" Ariel open your eyes" He said while holding her cheeks but no reply came from her.
He quickly mind link his beta Athonio as he kept feeling her pulse on her arteries.
" Athonio tell the pack doctor to come to my room immediately. I need him right now" He said through the mind link and Athonio quickly knew something is wrong with his mate because the alpha he knows doesn't fall sick.
The pack doctor arrived almost immediately with a briefcase in his hand.
" What happened to her?" He asked as he examine her.
" She screamed all of a sudden and lost consciousness" Lucas reply as he squeeze Ariel's hand gently. He is really worried about her. He actually don't want anything to happen to her or the baby. Artemis just remain quiet in his head without saying anything.
Athonio watch Ariel's face from the window with Admiration and he must admit she's is beautiful when she is sleeping. He wonder where Lucas got a strange mate like her from and he felt himself getting attracted to her too.
There's this charm about Ariel that attracts men to her which she doesn't really know about as she know less about herself.
Athonio turn his gaze away and look outside the window and took a deep breath. Whatever Lucas mate's pretty face is doing to him is not good and those lingerie she wore really wants to drive him crazy. Coming to the realization that she's his alpha mate made his gaze deep. If it was any other lady, he would have chased after her and make sure he gets her laid.
" She will be fine and will be conscious in the next one hour. She fell unconscious due to shock of her phobia. Maybe she saw something that traumatized her" The pack doctor said after examining Ariel for like what took an eternity. He must admit she has a good body shape and flawless skin which made him want to examine her over and over again but he has to stop for today. He will examine her and take a proper look at her next time when she fall unconscious again.
The pack doctor is a werewolf of thirty three years old. A black wolf with black furs. He has been the pack doctor for the past ten years and no one actually knows his dirty secrets except him.
" Alright" Lucas reply as he heave a huge long sigh. At least she will be conscious in an hour time. He knew something is wrong. Ariel probably saw something that made her scream but he really don't know what that is that made her lose consciousness. All he can remember is the knock coming from the door and not seeing anyone there.
' something is not right' He said silently as he push the hair on Ariel's face behind her ear.
Silas the pack doctor took another look at Ariel's face before walking out of the room.
Since Artemis isn't reacting or saying anything, Lucas just let him be and turned to look at Athonio who's looking outside the window.
Artemis is mad at him for being so intimate with Ariel.
" Is everything alright with you?" Lucas asked and Athonio shuddered a bit. He was caught off guard as he wasn't expecting any word from Lucas right now.
" Yeah I just want to take a fresh air through the window" Athonio said and gulp hard. He had been thinking about Lucas mate. How pretty she looks and alot of things that wants to turn him on. He really wonder how Lucas is always blessed with beautiful things.
Athonio and Lucas has been friend since when they were three. His father is the beta to Lucas father and that's one of the reasons he became Lucas beta.
" How is she?" Athonio asked as he put his hand inside his pocket and walk to the couch.
" She should be conscious in an hour time" Lucas said and caress Ariel's hand sending warmth down her body.
" Great then" Athonio reply. This is the first time he is seing Lucas mate's since she came to the pack and he feels like she's driving him crazy by mere laying down there. What if she is awake, how much effect will she have on him?
" Did you find anything about Lix?" Lucas asked .
" No not yet" Athonio reply and Lucas sighs.
" Guess I will have to do the investigation myself" Lucas said. Lucas actually thought that by now, he would have gotten some information about lix and he is really disappointed.
" Now that you found a mate, is it not time for you to take the throne? "Athonio asked after a brief silence.
Lucas father who is still on the throne at the outskirt of the pack made sure Lucas has a mate before he descend the throne for him to ascend.
He sent Lucas out of the castle in order for him to be able to find a mate. He even told him not to return until he finds his mate and that is one of the reasons his mother is bent on him finding a mate so that he can return to the castle.
Finding out that Lucas is not willing to find a mate quickly, she decides to get a mate for him so that he can return to the castle and take the throne but Lucas did not find his mate just because of the throne.
" I'm not interested in the throne. " Lucas said and Athonio was very surprised and somehow his eyes light up.
According to the law of the pack, if the son of the alpha on the throne don't take the throne then his beta son will have to take it. Which means if Lucas don't ascend the Throne, Athonio will ascend the throne thereby selling his rights.
" Are you sure of what you are talking about?" Athonio ask to be sure of what he heard.
" Why do you think my father sent me out of the castle?" Lucas ask Athonio with his eyes cold and icy under the flame that illuminate the room.
He lost interest in the throne immediately when his father sent him out to find a mate and took his assets from him and give him a pack to lead for one hundred and sixty days.
All he wants now is how to make Ariel fall for him and have a peaceful life with her.
Athonio really don't know how to answer that question and return his gaze to Ariel's face.
' whatever you're doing to me, stop it before it will be too late' Athonio said silently as he felt his body heating up by looking at Ariel's sleeping face.
Not quite long when Athonio left the room, Lucas heard the gentle knock on his door again. His blue eyes ran across the room and he stood up from the bedside.
He closed his eyes gently and shift into a white huge alpha wolf with deep blue eyes. He walked gently to the door ready for any attack.
