Chapter 24: the shadow

He waits for the knock to come again but it didn't. He walked to the window and jumped out of it.
He scanned the environment but didn't find anything suspicious. He knew there are strange beings lurking around the pack lately but he don't think any of them will come close to his room.
"Artemis" he called and Artemis just gave him cold shoulders. Artemis is mad at Lucas for not listening to him and now he just want him to be alone by himself. Ariel is their mate not only his mate.
" You're an asshole Artemis" Lucas cursed and jump back into the room. He sniffs the room but didn't sense anything except Ariel strange smell.
He closed his eyes and shift back to his human form panting lightly. He quickly picked his clothes and put them back on before walking towards the door. He turned the door knob and open it gently.
He walked out of the room down the hallway to see if he can sense anything but he didn't.
" Was I just hallucinating or what?" He asked himself before going back inside the room. He locked the door gently and found Ariel awake.
His eyes light up when he saw her awake on the bed. His icy blue eyes met her emerald green eyes and their eyes locked together.
' at last miss unconscious is conscious'
He broke the stare and walk towards her on the bed .
" Finally you are awake" Lucas beamed and Ariel just gave him a faint smile.
" Are you alright?" Lucas asked and Ariel glare at him all of a sudden. Lucas wonder why she will give him a glare all of a sudden when she smile faintly at him a while ago.
" How can I be alright when, when you took advantage of me?" Ariel asked with an angry tone and Lucas frown his face.
He can't remember taking advantage of her. The Ariel he know is always on guard against him.
' I told you not to touch her' Artemis who has been quiet all this while speak and Lucas hit his head with his palm. Is that what she is talking about by taking advantage of her? She enjoyed the foreplay too.

When he finds out that she is embarrassed and not going to say any more words, he drew a chair closer and sat down. He is really curious about what she saw and there are alot of things he needs to tell her. As his mate there are alot of things he needs to discuss with her before she finds out by herself. He don't want her to find anything about him by herself including the throne and most especially Clarissa.
Since she is new to the pack, she needs to be careful. Anyway he is not going to let her walk alone to avoid making unnecessary friends with other wolves.
" Ariel" he called and Ariel turned to look at him without answering.
She knew any time he call her, he always have something to say.
Sometimes when she is alone, she still think about Ethan and wonder what he is doing even when know she is angry with him for not trusting her and for not finding out how she end up in the hotel room. After she gets out of the pack she will visit him and show him hell.
She can still remember how Lucas here ruined her life by sleeping with her that night. Somehow she was glad he didn't deny her but then she still wonder why he will do such thing by taking their nude photos and sending them to Ethan. Somehow she feels like Lucas knows Ethan or he had been aware of their relationship right from the unset.
" What made you scream? Did you see something?" Lucas asked calmly. He is very aware that there have been strange beings lurking around the pack lately but he don't think the beings will enter the pack or maybe they already entered the pack.
Ariel mind flash back and the image of the shadow she saw by the window show in her mind and she quickly jump up from the bed at the thought of it and held Lucas hands with fear written all over her face.
" Are you alright?" Lucas asked looking very confused. The way Ariel jumped from the bed baffles him and he wonder what could have made her so scared like that. Is it the question he asked her or did she remember the shadow she saw or probably saw it again?
" It was there. I saw the shadow there " Ariel point towards the window panicking beside Lucas and Lucas quickly hug her to himself.
He wrap his strong arms around her and gaze at the window. The moon is out but it's not full yet. He wonder whose shadow Ariel saw at the window. Could it be the shadow of the person who knocked at the door or could it be the shadow of his mother. He know his mother won't come out of the castle to peek on them at night but then he remembered his mother is a desperate Luna . A powerful Luna that can walk around at night by herself.
" Don't panic. You are safe" Lucas said Patting Ariel's back and she relaxed in his embrace. She felt safe in his embrace and closed her eyes to take in his masculine scent.
" Do you mind sleeping on the bed with me? I'm afraid of sleeping alone" Ariel asked and Lucas eyes became wide opened. Sleep on the same bed with her, is she kidding him or what? The great sharp tongued Ariel afraid of sleeping alone.
" Are you sure ?" Lucas reply with his own question and Ariel nod her head.
'It's just only for the night. I will find my way out of the pack by dawn tomorrow Lucas so don't be happy about it' Ariel thought to herself silently with her eyes closed.
