14. Pomegranates

Hades and I spent a lot of time together. My mother being gone provided that opportunity. I learned so much. I was experiencing things I had never even known where things. Hecate had texted me wanting me to visit her soon at her home. She apparently knew how she was going to test my magic. I doubted there was anything that would provide the results she thought possible. But I assured her I would see her soon.

That night I had plans to visit Hades at his home. I looked in the mirror admiring my work. I had my long light red hair loose down my back and a tight red dress that hugged my curves. I normally didn’t wear a lot of makeup, but I had painted my lips a bright red. I looked hot, I had to admit it. Hecate had taken me out when I told her I wanted a dress that was not sweet but sexy. She was more than happy to help me find the perfect dress. I was having Dinner with Hades at the palace.

He had taken me out into the world of mortals most nights. This would be the first night eating in the underworld. Since the night I had been drunk I refused to sleep over, despite his insisting. Over the time we had spent, I realized that the God of the Dead, was a bit of a pushover when it came to me. He was so serious with others like the mortals, and even the people in his realm. He didn’t say much, but with me he was sweet, and basically gave me what I asked for. I kind of felt spoiled.

He had taken me to so many places. There were so many things that were so fun, I couldn’t believe my mother had kept this all from me. With each new experience, I began to resent her more and more. The internet was something that made me even more furious. Articles on the other Gods, going to various places. Some of them even had establishments that I had never gone to. She had kept me in the dark and all to herself, never letting me have anything other than her, and Lola.

Hades had taken me one day to go ride roller coasters and that had been exciting. Though Hades seemed less than thrilled but I realized that he just liked my company more than anything. I wondered how he was spending all his time with me, when he was supposed to be ruling his kingdom. But he assured me he had time for both. When we stayed up late talking, he would ask about how I felt about certain things. The questions pertained to the Underworld. Most of the time I would tell him I had to think about them, and I did, and would text him my thoughts.

He told me that he would be visiting someone soon and he wanted me to come with him, for this meeting. I had no idea what that would be about, but of course I planned on going. I had no idea when my mother would be home. She had been gone much longer than I thought she would be. But I was thankful for it. I was having the time of my life. I looked one last time in the mirror. My shoes were strappy heels that went with the dress that looked like a second skin. My necklace started to warm and after a deep breath I flipped the coin. I was in Hades Palace.

Hades was dressed in his signature black suit. His shoulder length black hair was tied back in a ponytail. His beard had been trimmed and extenuating his sharp jaw line. Every time I saw him my mouth watered. The way he devoured my body with his eyes made my breasts feel heavy. We had touched here and there. Holding hands, kissing some, and me sitting on his lap. But nothing was like it had been the night I had spent here. He had been controlled with his actions, and I appreciated it.

He came up to me offering his arm. Which I took without hesitation. This was supposed to be the scariest god, but he was not that to me. He was kind and considerate. And the way in which he had set up the underworld was joyful. I was sure Tartarus wasn’t but where most of the souls resided was a happy place. Children played in the street. Which was a little sad since that meant they had died young, but they were at least happy in death. I had played frisbee with them the evening before when Hades was off doing what he needed to do, then he had taken me home.

“You look ravishing Persephone Darling” Hades hot breath whispered in my ear as we walked arm and arm out to the courtyard. I looked and saw a table set up for us. There were candles and wine. I smiled; this was nice. The sky had begun to drift toward nighttime here. Hades moved my chair out for me so I could sit down. He took his seat across the small circular table. “You didn’t have to go through all this trouble. I would have been fine with something less formal.” He smiled. “I know, but you have never had dinner here, so I figured you would like something more special.”

I smiled he was so sweet. I got the feeling he didn’t do this for anyone ever but me. I couldn’t help but blurt out my question. “Hades have I made you into a big softie?” He smirked and replied, “Only for you Persephone Darling.” I blushed. He poured the wine, and I sipped it. It was yummy. I looked at him. “What the heck is that wine, it is the best I ever drank.” He spoke. “Well, being here for all eternity, the wine really gets to age and so my cellar is the most coveted of all the gods, even Dionysus, which is probably why he breaks in all the time to grab some from me.”

Hecate had told me something like that. As well as Hermes showing up sometime, mostly to hang out with Dionysus and cause trouble. I wish I had seen him again, since the night at Nox. I liked his personality. Maybe I would ask him to come here sometime, I thought he would be fun to do something with. “What are you thinking about?” Hades asked. “I am thinking that Hermes and I should hang out, he is funny.” He frowned. “Hermes is like plague.” I giggled and said, “He is not, he seems like fun, I wonder what he likes to do?” Hades stared at me and said, “He likes mischief.” I giggled again. “Well, maybe I want to try that a little.” He snorted, not liking the idea nearly as much as I did.

Food suddenly appeared on my plate. I smiled looking at it. “It looks so beautiful I don’t want to destroy it.” I said, Hades smirked. “Eat the food Persephone.” I loved the way his deep dark voice said my name. I wanted him to say it forever. I watched as he ate. His perfect mouth opening for the meal, I licked my lips a little watching him. His eyes looked at me. “Persephone, eat.” I flushed and nodded. How had I gone so long without something like this. Without him, he let me ask questions about anything and everything all week.

There had never been a time this week when he didn’t listen to my thoughts. I ate both of us in silence. That was another thing. I liked that even though we were in silence with one another, there was no awkwardness. My mother and I didn’t have that kind of thing. Normally when I was with her, she talked. Mostly about herself and pushing ideas on me that I wouldn’t normally care about. I pushed my mother from my mind. I didn’t want to think about her that night. Not that night, when it was just Hades and me. When Hades presented dessert, it was pomegranates. I bit into it, and the juice ran down my chin.

I was about to wipe it away when Hades moved fast from his chair and squatted down. He took my face in his hands. I looked at him with big eyes. I could feel the rich juice running down my face. Hades used his massive hands to pull my face gently to his. His mouth was close to mine and he moved it down and licked the juice from me. Despite the warmth outside, chills ran over me. My insides flipped. My heart pounded in my chest when his tongue continued up to my lips. He licked the seem of them. My mouth opened for him, and his lips pushed forward, and he kissed me.
