36. Easy Decision
I sat alone at the bar waiting for Hades to join me. I had seen my husband clench his fist at the man saying his father was Zues. There were two outcomes for his role in the underworld when he arrived there. First option, he could go suffer in Tartarus because it was clear if he was like his father then my husband wouldn’t like him.
Or he could be one of the judges, simply because we wouldn’t ever have to see him. I knew Hades only had two judges currently. If he was fine with a third, then that is where he would go. It would be better that way. Then Hades would never have to see him, if he went to Tartarus then there would be some encounters surely so that would only be an option if Hades wanted to hurt him.
Honestly, I didn’t even know why I had to be here to come to that conclusion. It seemed simple. If Hades wanted to hurt him, then Tartarus if not and wanted to act like his soul wasn’t there then he would be a judge. I sat there and had another glass of wine. “Why did you leave?” I turned and noticed one of the men that came with King Minos had sought me out. “Why not?” I asked.
“I thought your husband brought you to help him decide the fate of my king after his death.” I looked at the man in front of me. He too was a demigod. Though I didn’t know whom his parents were. “I don’t answer to you,” I snapped calmly and turned away. “Come on now, tell me goddess, what is it you came here for, surly if you wanted to help your husband you would still be at our meeting.” I didn’t turn to face him.
I was quite tired of people telling me to do things. I didn’t owe this nobody anything, least of all an answer. Like in all things I was spoiled and it seemed only Hades appreciated my nature. Then I felt his hand graze mine, I ripped my arm back. “Don’t you touch me.” I snapped venomously. “It was an accident,” He said.
With my limited knowledge I couldn’t tell if he was lying. “Go away” I said cooly. He just smirked. “So so angry, tell me is it because of your husband? Are you cross with him and taking it out on me?” I didn’t like his tone, nor what he was saying. “Who do you think you are to talk to me like this, in what world do you think a demigod has any sway or say over what I do. Do Not make the mistake that you have the upper hand here.” I snapped.
He laughed and it grated my nerves. “You are feisty, no wonder the God of Dead married you. And as if you don’t know who I am.” I remained silent “I am Thesus, my father is Poseidon.” My stomach recoiled. I had read up on Poseidon growing up. He was in my opinion horrid. I had never complained about not going to the ocean when my mother prohibited it. She said she never wanted to run into him, and after I read about him I couldn’t agree more.
In fact I had only even agreed to go to that party on the yacht with Hermes because Poseidon was in Olympus with his brother Zues watching the mortals. At least that is what Hermes had told me. “You don’t really like your husband do you, goddess?” He asked. I was shocked by his words. “I mean none of you really like your spouses, after all that is why there is so many of us, am I right?” He commented.
This man was clearly either stupid or crazy. “Wrong, gods you are so wrong. I don’t like Hades, I love him. And I would watch how you speak to me. I know my husband wouldn’t mind in the slightest if I turned you into a little mint plant too, in fact maybe he probably would be more than happy to trample you.” I said. He just chucked.
“I would like to see you try to do anything to me. You are in my world now, not your husbands domain.” He was too close and I stood up abruptly trying to get away from him. He was smirking now. “Thesus let’s go” I heard Minos call and I looked up to see Hades looking not too pleased from where he still sat on the couch on the top floor. Thesus then leaned in, he was too close and as I moved to get further away he said “Don’t worry we will most definitely be seeing one another again.”
Then he strutted away. I was glad the creep was gone and went back to where I knew my husband was still sitting. “Hades?” I said and he looked up at me. “Why did you get up and leave?” He asked me. “I already came to a decision about King Minos. I didn’t see the point of staying for your meeting when I came up with what to do with his soul when he dies.” Hades chuckled at my response.
He held his arms out for me, and I took them and sat on his lap. “What did my darling wife decide then about his fate.” Hades asked. “First let me ask, do you wish to hurt him?” I asked and his brows scrunched up, he was surprised by my question. “Not unless he seriously irritates me.” I smiled at his words. “Great then yes he should be added to the two current judges for the souls. You don’t like his father, and he is like him, he said so himself.”
“Please tell me where your beautiful head is at.” He said, and I explained. “You will never have to interact with him when he dies. You clenched your fist at the name of his father. Meaning you dislike him, clearly. If Minos is like him, I don’t want you having to interact with someone you dislike so much for the rest of time.” Hades threw his head back and laughed. “It really is simple, he becomes a judge, and we don’t have one of Zues’s spawn around us at all. Thus, you’re happy.” Hades smiled.
“You really are spoiled” He said and I turned my head “I thought you liked that about me.” I asked. “No, little goddess, I love that about you. Only you Darling Persephone would settle something like this based on what would be the most convenient for me. But yes, as much as I dislike his father, I do believe his life experience will make him ideal, no doubt he will be in the underworld before the end of the war.” I nodded. “So what did that other Demigod want, Thesus wasn’t it?”
