32. Marital Fight

I ignored Hades for days. I was still angry with him. When he asked why the nymphs were gone and now souls were in our home I screamed and threw something at him. Hecate tried to talk to me about it but I just glared at her. I was still furious. She dropped it and promised not to bring it up again and we just trained.

In fact that had been the highlight of the last few days. I found apparently my power was exceptionally strong. Much stronger than I thought it was. I could transform some things to plants, like Mithe, though I couldn’t produce a single flower anymore. We would be learning weapons soon as I seemed to be getting a better grip on my power thanks to those who were now worshiping me.

Apparently having souls in the palace instead of the nymphs seemed to make the souls of the underworld thrilled. It had been unexpected but they all liked it. So apparently my anger had accomplished something positive. I was relieved I didn’t know how the souls would react when asked to work in the palace. I even had a few ask if they could rotate with some of the other souls who seemed interested in coming to the palace.

I was more than happy to have them. In fact it was rather fun, I had never been around mortals much. My mother always had nymphs and while these souls were dead they still had been mortal once. One of the girls who was working in the kitchen told me when I asked why they liked coming here she told me “It is a change. We all never get to come here some of us have been in here before but not for over a thousand years. Plus we get to have a change of pace. Death can be repetitive so something new is fun.” It was an interesting concept. After that I decided, I would try to think of other things to bring the soul's joy.

I was sitting outside in the garden using my gift to try to get roses to grow. I had exceptional power now but I still was not able to grow flowers and hadn’t in some time. I was much more stable now with my mind, Hecate said it was because of the influx of worship it had evened both my mind out and increased my abilities.

I was furious with my mother, it turned out this whole time I would have had a great deal of power if she had not kept me on her estate. I would have had followers but I hadn’t had the opportunity for that because she was selfish. My furry with her burned but also I missed her and that made me angrier than anything. “Persephone Darling” Hades said approaching me in the garden that I had not yet figured out how to grow.

I glanced at him “What do you want?” I asked turning back away from him. “You can’t stay mad at me forever, please what did I do?” I glanced at him again, Hades wasn’t stupid, the contrary actually. “What didn’t ask any of the nymphs I dismissed?” I turned away again. He didn’t respond. “Yeah, that is what I thought. I may not be as smart as you, but I am learning.” I said and tried hard to form a rose plant but nothing, but a black thorny vine grew.

“I am sorry, okay, it was a long time ago,” Hades said. I ignored him. I didn’t care, he hadn’t told me about it. “I got you a surprise.” He said. That piqued my interest and I looked at him. “Can I show you?” I thought for a moment. “Fine.” I said and stopped attempting my roses and stood. “Lead the way” I said he offered his arm, but I refused to take it. To which he frowned but he walked, and I followed.

“We will be visiting King Minios in a few days, I pushed back the meeting because well... we are in a quarrel and it wouldn’t be good to meet with him until.” I cut in “Hades, we can meet him whenever you wish, it doesn’t matter if we are fighting. I am not going to allow my anger at you to make me blind. If you haven’t noticed I am still meeting Hecate, I am still doing my job of ruling.” He stopped walking and looked at me.

“What do you mean, I haven’t seen you in our throne room at all?” I snorted at his remark. “Tell me have you had many visitors?” I asked and he looked confused. I smirked, “I maybe have been stupid before, but I refuse to be anymore, and let me tell you I have been learning rather quickly.” He clearly was confused. “What are you talking about?” He asked. “Turns out even though my mother and I are now no longer on good terms, I still learned a lot from her. Now where are we going?” I asked.

He continued to walk and then brought me to a large room. It was beautiful. He had converted one of the rooms in our home as an art studio for me. I loved it, it was so big and I could see he had put a lot of work into it. But then a wicked thought came to me. When did he do this? “I had it done before we got married. It was supposed to be a wedding gift,” My mood soured. He had the nymphs do this for him, though it was for me.

“Thank you, I will enjoy it. Now if you will excuse me, I have plans this evening with Hermes.” I said before turning around and walking out. “Wait” He called after me, but I was already moving. I walked into our room him close on my heels. He had not been permitted in our bed since our wedding, and I had no plans to change that, until I was no longer mad at him.

“Where are you and Hermes going?” He asked as I slammed the bathroom door shut before he could enter. Hermes and I were going to a yacht party apparently. He had asked me to go, but I had no plans to tell my husband that, we were fighting. When Hermes invited me, I didn’t want to go, but when he said a yacht was a boat I got excited, I had never been on one before, so I gave in. I stuffed a change of clothes in one of my bags after getting dressed and marching past Hades.

He stared at me; I wore a tiny bikini that was visible under my swimsuit's cover, his mouth hung open as I marched past him, ignoring him. He followed me as I went down to wait for Hermes to arrive. He was waiting for me, thankfully. “Seph, you look hot, Hades is one lucky god.” I shrugged and moved closed ignoring Hades who was fuming. Good, I thought; he should be mad, I certainly still was.
