Chapter 28: He really wanted her

EDZEN'S P.O.V
I keep on swaying my bad and make sure that I won"t miss a single ball. My best friend spoke.
"Are you mad or what?"-he ask.
"Why do you even ask? You know the answer."
"I just ask to open a conversation with you. Is this about the girl that you have a crush on?"
"Yes, I am mad that I can"t and—never mind."
"Dude she"s married, Mrs. Lavelle is no longer a girl that you should pursue. Stop dreaming to be her man because that will never happen."
"And who do you think you are to say that? What"s the use of family court and divorce lawyers?"
"Oh, I know you will say that. It"s not because your parents and the other couple who file a divorce would mean that you can do whatever you want. You know what if feels to be in a divorced family."
"And so? They don"t have a child yet. I won"t make a kid suffer the way that I did before."-I said. I stop swinging after the machine ran out of ball. He sigh.
"Are we going to argue with that? Edzen, don"t be a man that breaks a family. Yes, they don"t have a child yet and what if she"ll conceive after their divorce? Are you willing to her a father of her child too? Plus, she"s way out of your league."
"Ricky, you know me. When I wanted to pursue a woman, I will always find a way. And if she"s pregnant, I will. As long as she will be mine."
"I don"t know, your sick. I can"t believe we are arguing with this kind of problem again. You like sticking your nose where it doesn"t belong. Are you being happy snatching women from their men?"
"Yes. Its challenging and I knew that they"re good in bed. That"s what I wanted from my women, Ricky. Good in bed and I"ll prove them that I am better than their ex"s."-I said. He sigh.
"Whatever. But I am telling you this again and again, don"t try to be like that forever. Not all girls will fall with your sweet lies. Give yourself some respect. You can have women without snatching one from their boyfriends. Your rich and an athlete star. Women will die to be your woman."-he said.
"Exactly, that"s why I can also have women that I—"
He place sandwich in my mouth to shut me up.
"I don"t know what kind of mindset is that. Your unbelievable, Edzen."-he said. I devoured the sandwich before answering him with a smirk.
""Because I am. That"s why I am Edzen Martinez, Ricky."-I remark. We continued to play and went out later. When we enter the disco bar, everyone is dancing along with the loud music.
"What are we going to do here, Edzen?"
"Simple, I just need a woman for one night stand."
"Here we go again, my goodness."-he said.
"C"mon, you know me well. Let"s sit."-I said.
ZYRIL'S P.O.V
I am pushing my cart when I accidentally bump a cart from my back when I step back. I heard someone scoffs and when that man stood up after picking something on the lowest row, my eyes widened. Him? Again? Seriously?!
"You? Wait, what are you doing here? Are you following me?"-he ask. I frowned.
"Don"t be ridiculous. Do I look like a stalker? And I am here to buy some things. Don"t accuse me."
"Really, what if you just pick random things to make sure that you will look like innocent?"
"Really? That"s what you think? Maybe you should try being a writer instead mister? Plus, look at my cart, is this something that I just pic randomly? Plus, they"re arranged which means I didn"t just grab them and throw it here."-I said. He look at my cart.
"Okay."-he simply said. I just sigh and pick the soy sauce that I needed and push my cart again. When I look at him, I reminded a face that I don"t want to remember. They have the same color of the eyes. Green eyes that reminds me how idiot I am when I let myself trap in his lies. Damn it! Why am I remembering you, rascal! Stop thinking about him!"
"Hey! Wait, do you have some free time?"
"Stop following me and trying to talk to me."
"Huh? Is that even illegal now? I just wanted to have some company after this and eat with someone for lunch. Your he only one I know that I bump today so...what do you think?"
"No. My answer is no. Leave me alone, coward."
"What did you just call me? Coward? What did I even do to you for you to call me coward? Are you nuts?"-he said. I walk faster to the beverage area.
"Hey, answer me, missy!"-he shouts a bit. I didn"t stop nor look at him until he grabs my hand on this aisle where no one is here. I gave him death glare.
"I save leave me alone! I don"t want to talk to you, okay? Is that even hard to do? Are you deaf or just stupid?"-I said. He look at me in surprised.
"Is this about what happened in my cousin"s house and that lunch either? Are you that mad?"
"Yes, I am that mad because you keep on bugging me and I hate it. Do you even know the word NO?"
"I can tell that it wasn"t just that. The way you look at me feels like I did something that is unforgivable."
"I just don"t like green eyed men and someone that loves to play women"s heart. If you want a fling then find someone else. Don"t bug me and leave me alone. Guys like you is what I hate the most"-I said and push him. I have push him that hard that the shelf shaken. The box of cookies will fall in his head. I went top him and held his head to cover him but he didn"t let me and instead he hug me and cover me instead. That surprises me. The staff came and he said he will bought all the boxes that falls down.
SIMONE'S P.O.V
The two of us are surprised when we get home and saw Luris sitting on the living room watching Netflix movie. He stood up when he saw us.
"Hi there, love birds."-he said. Our eyebrows arches and sat on the other couch.
"Why did you suddenly visit without texting me?"
"What"s wrong with your forehead? Are you injured or something?"-I ask. He sigh.
"Half of the fault is Zyril"s, your assistant. We bump each other on the grocery store and I ask her for lunch because I feel bad for thinking badly about her. You know Russell that I meet her with a wrong foot and talk to her arrogantly when we bump each other again here. I just wanted to apologize but she is...I feel like she"s mad at me more that the irritation I gave to her. Something deeper that"s why she"s so hostile against me."
"Zyril is a nice woman herself. I don"t know why your having a bad relationship with her. Maybe because you tried to hit on her. Tell it now."
"No! She"s beautiful yes but she"s not someone that want a fling for a relationship. That"s why I will never touch her, okay? I am not ready for a steady relationship, cousin."-he said. I sigh.
"Did she knock you out that"s why you had that injured, Luris?"-I ask. They both look at me.
"She did what? No. But she pushes me that strong and the boxes of cookies in the grocery"s shelves fall down on me."-he said. That made me feel relieve.
"I"m sorry for what she did but tried to be civil and never get too close and nosy to her, Luris. She had a thing with green-eyed men."-I said. He snap his finger and look at me in puzzled expression.
"She said that. She said she hates men with green eyes. But why? That"s the reason why I came here. I wanted to ask her but I didn"t follow her after she went to the counter."-he said. I take a deep breath.
"Because a green-eyed man that I didn"t meet and even Dana ruined her engagement with her long time boyfriend. When we graduate from college her high school sweetheart proposed to her. But this man she meet ruined her happy ever after."
"I am not that man."-I said.
"Yes, that"s true but you have two common with that man. First your green eyes, second your also a playboy. That man keeps on attracting her even if she proudly say that she"s engaged. She didn"t tell us because she"s confident that she can handle it but she"s wrong. That man is consistent."-I paused.
"That man said that he loves snatching women from their men and he is better in treating women that their partners. He even show her the proof how his ex"s said that he is better than their men. Zyril didn"t let him ruin her relationship until one day... that man had found a way to ruin her."
"What did he do?"-he ask. I sigh and became sad.
"He ask Zyril to eat lunch with one last time but...that"s when he do his plan. He called Zyril"s fiancee and when he got in there, he saw the kissing like position of her and that man. Even if she explains to her and tell him the truth, he doesn"t believe at all. Since then Zyril hates men with green eyes."-I said. He sigh and he seems to understand.
"Now that explains why she gave me that expression and her tone is different from the normal arrogance we use to a stranger."-he said.
"So...you better leave her alone. You see she will only hate you if you keep on bugging her. I am telling you, she"s not someone that you can handle when she"s mad. The three of us did so be careful."
"I will."-Russell said. That made me laugh.
"I am talking to him. A warning if he plans to bother Zyril further. WE know how much pain she dealt after her ex-fiancee cancelled their wedding."
"That man is idiot because he believe that man. If they love each other that long then he should know what kind of woman his fiancee is."-he said. That surprises me, I didn"t realize he will say that, he"s a playboy after all. Russell smiled to see my reaction.
"He is playboy but he is not fully bad. When he gave you his trust, he surely ear you out when bad happens. His good in judging a person if they"re lying or not. Maybe because he is watching too much detective anime like me."-he said. I nod.
"By the way, thank you for telling me. Please don"t say to her that I ask about it."-he added.
"Okay no problem."-I said. He stood up.
"I"ll go ahead. My mom is waiting for me to have dinner with her. Good day, you two."
"Okay, be careful in driving."-he said.
"Wait, I have something for aunt Lilia."-I said. I went upstairs and gave him the box.
"I bought this for you and for her when I visit Canada. I always forgot giving this to Russell and give it to you."-I said. He smiled.
"Thank you. I knew she will be happy for this. I"ll go ahead then."-he said. I smiled and nod. He left us. When he close the door of our room, he speak.
"I am hoping that Luris won"t act recklessly."
"What did you mean by that?"-I ask and take his coat and tie. He shrug his shoulder.
""He might bug Zyril more. He has a strong empathy over people. Now that he know about her past, he might help her forgetting her experience with that man."-he said. I took off my coat.
"He needs to be careful, I am serious to what I said. I hope he"ll listen to me instead."
"How about you? Do you have any..."
"Nope. I don"t have. There is a man who tried but he"s not my type and he only brings bad luck to me."
"Huh? Why is that? And who is he?"-he ask.
