Chapter 30: Russell's hunch

SIMONE'S P.O.V
They told me half of the story and I know they're keeping somethings on them. I called the police station and ask about their investigation. They only caught three men but their boss and two other men took the chance and runaway.
"Thank you, officer. Tell me if there is good news especially about the master minds identity."-I said.
"No problem Mrs. Maxwell. Your lawyers are already here to file the case against the kidnapping incident. We hope a full cooperation from you and the victims. It will be a great help for us."
"No problem officer. Just call us anytime and we will come."
I ended the call and sip my coffee. I went out from their room because I don't want to show how frustrated I am. Russell and Jackson ask me to keep this from my parents and in laws. Make sure this is just a simple abduction, if someone had tried to ruin my family, I will haunt them down. They have touch someone that they shouldn"t.
"They're looking for you already."-Dana. She came as soon as Zyril told her about what happened. I sigh deeply.
"I don't know Dana. I feel like someone is trying to ruin my family and it frustrates me actually."-I said and sip again.
"I know you, Simone. But don't be reckless okay? That will only bring you a problem. Just investigate and know if you have an enemy hiding somewhere. Just calm down."
"I will try that. For now, I am happy that they're okay. That"s the only thing that I wanted. I am happy that Luris and Russell was there and they save my little brother. That kid is important to me because he always made me smile when dad is trying to ruin my day. That's why I love him."
"Hey, Jackson is your blessing in disguise. He might be 5 years younger than us but he is already a matured kid and he also strive to be successful in the field where he always find happiness. He is like you."-she said. I smiled.
"Yes that's why I never saw him as my half-brother."
"I know. Uhm, by the way, I am curious about that Luris guy. He is Russell's cousin right? He is giving our Zyril a different glance. Is he courting her or something?"
"Nope. But he indeed ask why Zyril is a little aloof to someone like him. He admit himself that he is playboy and of course you notice one thing. He has green eyes."
"Yes, I saw that. That's why I feel bad on how Zyril ignores him even if he's talking to her. I just left and followed you here because I"m worried but I can sense that he's not a bad guy unlike that jerk. When Zyril introduce that to us, I already have a bad hunch against him but I hide it to her."
"I also sense that. Luris also have a sharp tongue but he is not bad. He seems to be a nice guy. Maybe he is just an explorer when it comes to his age. He just meet women who just wanted flings as well that's why he's still restless up until now."-I said. She also nod and drink her coffee.
"Seriously, I still wanted to punch that jerks face once that I meet him again."-she said. I sigh and take out my phone.
"Actually, I already meet him again. Zyril haven't bump him again and I"m thankful for that because her wound might open again. Life is a joke Dana. He must have forgotten our faces because he just meet us once. Or maybe because he didn"t even bother to remember what he did to Zyril before."
"What? You meet him again? Why did you hide that from me?"-she ask. I held the cup tightly. And continue.
"He is now a professional baseball player and this time, I am his target. He is trying to catch my attention."
"What?! You have to be careful then!"-she said. I nod.
"Don't worry, I am not someone he can fool easily."
RUSSELL'S P.O.V
"Next time don't be reckless and called me when there is emergencies like this, okay? You hear me?"-she said.
"Nah, let the boys protect their ladies."-I said. He stuff my mouth with an apple and gave me a death glare. I grab her waist and look at her with sincerity. She sigh.
"Don't force yourself, your wound is in your shoulder. My goodness."-she said. I just smile and open my mouth.
"I want more, they said apple can make the doctor away. I hate staying in hospitals. It reeks with medicine and I hate the smell here."-I said. She feed me again and Luris sigh.
"I suddenly wanted to have a girlfriend myself. Someone who can pamper me too."-he said. I laugh and stick my tongue on him to tease him more. Zyril stood beside him and give him a slice of an apple as well. He look at her.
"Ohh, thanks."-he said. Simone smiled and tap my hand. I let her go and she stood up. She pulled the curtain that is in between of our bed. She sat beside me again and smile even more. I also have the same thoughts. I ask for an apple again.
"Big sister, what about me?"-Jackson. She laugh and he also stretch her hand and feed him. She suddenly receives a call and she decided to go outside. I stood p and sit beside him.
"Good thing that your cut is not serious and you don't have any serious injury. I"m sorry for what happened to you, brother-in-law."-I said. He shook his head and smile.
"Thank you because you and Luris was there to save my butt. I thought it's my end actually."-he said. I just nod.
'He didn't even know that I am saying sorry because it was me who put him in such danger. I will investigate this matter. I want to know who is my enemy. I am afraid that they'll do this again and worst they'll also target my wife. Damn it' The curtain opens and Luris walk closer to us. Zyril is not with him. He look on us.
"I heard one of them didn't kidnap you for money."-he said.
"Yes, they said that too. They said that they'll kill me and use my death to destroy someone's life. It can be my father's or big sister. I don't know is their real reason but I am relieve that I am not dead. I wanted to know about this. I am afraid they'll try it again."-he said. I cross my arms.
"If that's what they said, this is indeed serious. I will hire a secret bodyguards for you. That way we can know if someone will tail you again and try to kidnap you again."
"If that's the only way we can catch the mastermind then I am willing to do any means. Also, I have to tell you something big brother. When my sister told you that you should call her for emergencies like that, she mean it. The truth is, big sister Zyril and Dana are known as triad roses."
"Triad roses? Wait, I heard that during our college days cousin. I heard that name on a certain group of ladies. They said that triad roses are the powerful college gang in the city. That"s them?"-he said. I also remember that news.
"Yes, I can still remember. One of the fraternity group in our college had fight with triad roses and they live in the hospital for a week because of an injury and broken bones."
"Whoa. That was scary."-Luris said. We heard the door opens, he cough and we took an oranges to peel and act like were not talking any sensitive topic. They look on us.
"What's going on here, hmm? I can smell something boys."
"Hey, don't doubts us. We're just asking if he is okay. What if you'll undergo a psychological analysis? What do you think, Simone?"-I said to advert her attention.
"Why not? Zyril, can you call Dr. Zalensky?"-she said,
"No problem."-she said and leave. That was close.
"We're not done yet. Do you think I'll stop on that, hmm? I know you three are discussing something."-she pry again.
DANA'S P.O.V
I saw Zyril and she enters to doctor Zalensky's office. Maybe its for Jackson. I open their room and place the food I bought. Simone's expression tells me that she is doing an interrogation. My goodness, she never change, huh?
"What did they do, hmm?"-I ask to her. She sigh.
"They seems to be talking like they're hiding something."
"It's a boys thing. Don't scare them. They're patients, Simone. But really, I am curious too."-I said in a shift.
"Not even you, Dana. Come on guys, we're just--"
"Just what, hmm? Don't tell me your going to lie to me, huh?"
"No. Of course not. We're just talking what could be the reason why they kidnap me. That's it. I also told them that those guys we're not into ransom money."-he said.
"Okay, see? It's just a normal thing, Simone."-I said.
"My goodness. It's easy for you to scare this kid. Maybe I was too soft on you, little brother."-she said. I laugh.
"Maybe no and maybe yes?"-I said. She shook her head.
"Maybe because he's still into you--uhmp!"-Jackson drag her sister and cover her mouth. I look at them.
"What did you just say, Simone?"-I ask.
"No. I mean sister is just making a confusion. I mean she's joking, yes that's right."-he said. She take off his hand.
"Hey, that's rude. I'm your sister, do you want me to take your car away?"-she said. I laugh. I open the Styrofoam"s.
"Come on, let's eat instead."-I said. I advert the topic because I heard what Simone said loud and clear. But the doctor came and decided to evaluate him and he left after he said that Jackson seems to be okay and he won't suffer in any psychological problem. That's good news.
"I have to go because tomorrow is the resume of my taping day. Steven had finally recover from fever and we can now continue. Jackson, be careful from now on and here."
I held his hand and gave him my favorite toy. He look at me, I just smile and pet him. This kid turn to be a handsome boy. He is just that petite and seems to be soft but now? He suddenly bloom into a hunk. He can be an actor if he want.
"Use that if there are people that will approach you again even if they pointed a gun on you, just use that teaser on their hand and they'll drop their gun."-I said. He smiled.
"Thanks Dana. I will keep this then."-he said. I nod.
"Maybe one time I will teach you so self-defense techniques. At least you can defend yourself and then you can find a time to ran when you have the chance."-I added.
"Uhm! Not a bad idea. Just call me when you have time."
"Okay. Zyril, Simone, I have to go. I'll see you some other time. Bye everyone."-I said and wave at them.
"Okay. Be careful in driving okay. Message us when you get home. Maybe one of these days I'll visit again."-she said.
"Okay."-I said. I went off. I know that Jackson ask Simone to keep what happened to their father. 'If I'll try to entertain Jackson's feelings will uncle and Simone accept me? I am 5 years older than him. It might be a taboo if we will have a romantic relationship Oh my goodness, why do I even think of that possibility? Wake up, Dana!'
My phone suddenly vibrates when I get home. It was Haven, she must be asking the time of the taping and even the location. I forgot to text her back because I drove away to the hospital after I heard what happened.
"I'm sorry, Haven. I suddenly have an important emergency. I'll just text the location. The taping will start around 9 am so don't be late okay?"-I said. I head clicking sound.
"Okay director. Thank you. Sorry for bothering you. Good night."
"No problem. Bye-bye."-I said and ended the call. I better concentrate instead. Ahh...my back!
