#14 Lost in my Nightmare
I would give so time to take it all in before we start the operation, Lilly called for Matt in the best possible way she could, “Matt Matt” she said in a mild tone, “I overheard the doctor saying I wouldn’t be able to give birth to this child since I feel death is fast approaching”.
Matteo replied; “Don’t talk like that, I promise you things will be fine”, at that moment Matt heard a knock on the door,
“knock-knock”
Who is at the door, Matt shouted, you could tell there was pain and anger in his voice. “Your highness, it’s me, Luke, the second in command can I come into the room”,
“Yes come in” Luke, nodded at the king before looking at Lilly’s pale face once again, Luke said to himself, “even almost in death, she still managed to look breathtakingly beautiful.”
“Now to business”, the moment was long forgotten when the two powerful men sat down, “I have the men surveilling every nook and cranny of the land to see who could have done this”, he said quickly,
“That is good, but I want to discuss something else”, I was not sure if he should tell what he was thinking to anyone, even the person he trusted most out of all those that worked for him,
“What is that, your majesty?”, Luke asked attentively, what else could the alpha king want to discuss other than finding the person responsible for the attempted murder of the queen.
With a sigh, the king decided to tell his second in command about the probably untrue theory he had, “I believe there is a traitor among the guards” Luke replied; “Are you questioning the loyalties of your guards?” Matteo replied; “it was a big thing for something like this to happen, it was also very unusual.”
The alpha king was to trust his guards through and through as they took an oath after their training. “Think about it Luke, the person who works within the castle, but I kind of suspect Jack because since this incident happened, he suddenly vanished.
We do not know where the culprit approached her from, we shall wait for her to wake up but before then, gather all the men, it appears to me that one of them has a problem in choosing where their loyalty lies”,
Matteo did not want to believe that any of his men were capable of betraying him in such a way but there was no other angle to this mystery. There had to be a traitor. “Very well, my lord. I shall be on my way right this moment”,
Luke said, rising from the chair he sat on, The king replied; “Thank you, Luke, you have always been the most loyal person to me. I shall be seeing you later”, “Yes, my lord”, Luke bowed and left as soon as he was dismissed, leaving Lilly in the silent room with Matt.
The silence of the room was deafening, only her heartbeat could be heard, it was the only thing keeping the king sane at the moment. He took her slender fingers and held onto them,
“I am so sorry, beautiful, this is all my fault. I should have told you everything, I should have told you to be careful, I should not have let you leave my side, I do not deserve you, I thought I did but I do not.
A wreck like me does not deserve perfection”, she stayed silent, unmoving, “Damn it, you can not even hear me”, he pulled through his hair in frustration as he stood up from his seat,
“I am such an idiot”, he was tempted to break something, anything, just as long as it smashed into tiny pieces, mirroring his heart. How was it even possible that such a thing had happened to his chosen? He was the most feared person in the region, the strongest, bravest, and most powerful.
“Bullshit! Bullshit!”
He could not even take care of his mate, this also reminded me of the moment he could not take care of his sister Bianca, how was he supposed to take care of a whole kingdom? He asked himself. He had been ruling for years but this obstacle had proven him to be a terrible ruler.
He was always so conscious, how was it possible that the day he decided to let Lilly out of his sight for less than a day, she got kidnapped and is now fighting for her life?
Lilly’s pov...
The only thing that surrounded me was darkness. My body felt like it had been slammed with a ton of bricks and I couldn't move an inch. My insides steamed with a little ache, and I wondered what had happened to me. It felt as if my entire universe was suspended in mid-air;
I couldn't see or move, but the last time I checked, I was perfectly fine or was I? Was this a nightmare from which I would wake up? It had to be; I couldn't imagine something like this happening to me.
A delicious and familiar aroma assaulted my nostrils, and I knew Matt was here. I was ecstatic, thinking that he would be able to help me wake up from my nightmare.
Matteo replied; "It's been two days, Doctor." Doctor replied; “The operation has been completed, but she has yet to awaken.
Matteo replied; "Why hasn't she awakened? What's more”, why did Matt sound so concerned and irritated? Doctor replied; "My lord, she is in a severe condition, I assure you that I am doing everything in my power to help her.
The operation was a success, but her body was so weak that she could barely wake up from the comma”, the doctor explained to him, making him confused down to the spirit.
I could tell Matt was getting agitated. I craved to hold his hand to tell him everything would be alright, but I could; not because I could not move but because I was not alright.
“This makes no sense”, I felt the bed dip down gently beside me, and I knew it was Matt, I wanted to move but I just could not, my body felt so numb and unresponsive to everything my brain was asking it to do.
