“It looks pure…you and your boyfriend can leave now”
“It’s a pleasure doing business with you”
“And you don’t have to worry about your brother, at least from my side. As Long as he
doesn’t do business with us then…you don’t have to worry about him”
As we were about to leave. A member of the gang came in a hurry.
“ yo shaggi the cops are outside. They pulled up with some guns on us.”
We could hear some hassle outside. And shots were fired. I could hear from the wall
someone shouting
“Get down on the ground” it seemed like the police were trying to subdue the gang
members .
“Put the gun down, I warn you… put the gun down” .
Hearing that alone, chills ran down my spine.
The fact that I could go to jail because I was in the building scared the shit out of me.
“Take the back door to the kitchen down there. I would have to hold off the police. I’ll give
you guys a chance to escape”
Instantly we ran out to the kitchen and took the door on the left where I could see the
streets.
“Let’s take this door… This is the door” holding Emma’s hands. We practically forced the
door open to escape from the police. At this rate my mind is going crazy and all over the
place. I felt the adrenaline running through my veins. I could see that Emma was confused
and scared. She just followed every lead even though I was confused. I had done a lot of
mischievous things when I was in high school. But the level of adrenaline was too high for
me. You’re running to the streets even though I did not know where we’re going. We took
the left corner and kept running and running. Although I saw a car following us for about
two streets .
“I am out of breath”
Emma said “let’s find somewhere to hide”
We Found a bush close to a house and hid in it . The car that was following us finally left.
“Who is in that car following us”
Emma whispered
“Maybe it’s someone from the gang”

After about an hour we left the bush to see if No one was following us. We decided we
could call an Uber to come get us.
As we were moving to the Main route back to school. A car ran in front of us. It was
Emma‘s brother.
“Yo Emma get in I’ve been trying to get to you” he pushed the car door open.
“i got a tip that shaggy was going to get hit by the police”
She was vexed at the sight of him.
“You knew this would happen… didn’t you” she snapped at him . I could not and did not
want to interfere with family issues
“I’m sure you use me to protect yourself from being caught” at this point she raised her
hands to slap him. She hit him so hard it felt like I could feel it on my own face. At this rate
I was surprised and confused because I have never seen Emma in such fury. She scared
me. I wanted to stop her but she pointed her fingers at me telling me to stay out of it.
“I’m sorry Emma how would I know… I’m sorry” he pleaded for Emma to enter the car and
leave the area of the crime scene to avoid more trouble.
“Please get in… please Emma just get in”
He further pleaded. Staring at her almost crying because the slap he just received from her
“please let’s get out of here so the police will find us”
This time I took her hand to calm her down.
“Yeah listen to your boyfriend rather than listen to me”
She had calmed down a bit now she entered the back seat of the car.
Emma’s brother ran into the car and started the car as he drove off like a mad man that
didn’t have any driving training.
“Can you believe this fool, you said you loved me and you let me go through the horror”
She folded her hand in disappointment as she sunk back into her previous anger.
“Remind me to never trust you again”
At this point tears started running down her eyes.
“Here’s your bag… I hope the money gives you happiness ”
“I didn’t plan it to go this way sis…you know I got you sis ”
Now looking through the car head mirror to try and get eye contact with Emma to try and
convince her of his ignorance. It was a very awkward trip for me. There I was sitting in the
backseat trying to mind my own business so as not to get the more vexed because she
may just transfer her anger on me and I don’t want that.
“So where are we going ?”
He asked.
“Just take me back to my college block”
“From going to remove you out of my life” she was in my arms at this moment I noticed
was injured from the glass shattering on the floor from the gunshots through the window.
“Bye bye to mark Alonzo… you are dead to me”
She smudged her dress with the blood stains on her hands.
“Don’t say that Emma you know we the only ones we got” he was disappointed in himself
for having to put his sister through all that trauma.
“I am really sorry I will make it up to you” looking at us through the head mirror. “You can’t
bribe me with your dirty money, I never wanted it” she said, hissing at him.
“ I just helped you so that you can get back on your feet and look at what that got me,
Wounded, bruised and traumatised ”.
For about thirty minutes the car was silent. Mark kept looking back at me; it seemed like he
was trying to figure out who I was to her. “Who is the boyfriend you never introduce me to
him”
“ he is none of your business” emma scolded him
“Hi I am Mark her infamous brother”
