#15 My health

Narrator’s POV.
"What on earth is wrong with her?" the king roared at the already stressed-out doctor, who was having trouble breathing. Since his mate was brought into the infirmary, the doctor had been subjected to a barrage of scolding from the alpha king.
"Her heart rate is increasing," the doctor said as he walked to the door, "Where are you going?" the king cried again, was the doctor abandoning him with her in this condition,
he had no idea how to help her, “I’m calling the maid to bring the tranquilizer”, he said, trying to stay as calm as possible, although, in his insides, he was worried about what the alpha king would do to him if he did not make it.
The king nodded and let the doctor do his job. “Please stay with me”, he begged her, holding her hand. Once his fingers made contact with her skin, fireworks and sparks erupted through her body, making her heart rate quicken. He hastily dropped her hand and yelled, “doctor!”.

The wary doctor burst into the room and was surprised that her heart rate had gone up, “What did you do my lord?” he asked gently but slightly scolding, “I held her hand”, “Your touch increased her heart rate”, the doctor said, spotting her vein and injecting her with the tranquilizer needle.
She calmed down and her heart was back to its normal slow, beeping self. “I thought it would calm her”, he said, realizing he had been reckless with Lilly’s life, once again, “Not in this case, your mate bond carries a lot of things,
One of them is heart stimulation. It increases the beating of the heart. You could have killed her”, in the flash of lightning, the doctor had been pinned unto the wall by the alpha king,
“Never say that again, never in your life tell me that I am capable of killing the woman I love, I could have you killed. Do you understand me?”, the powerful king had his large hands around the meek doctor’s neck in a tight hold, any more pressure, and the middle-aged man would be a goner.

“I understand, your majesty”, the doctor had agreed that he had crossed the line by saying what he said, there were just some things that were meant to be kept to oneself, especially in the face of authority like the alpha kings.
The king released the man and went back to Lilly’s side, letting the doctor make a mad dash out of the room as he clutched his neck and gasped for air. Seeing the man in such a state made Matteo realize that what he did was very unnecessary,
he had acted on impulse, he had acted like a fool for such a wise man. He knew the man was trying his best to make sure that the queen survives this without any fatalities,
he was just doing his job by warning him about the dangers and the consequences of what he could do to Lilly in the state she was in, but he had blown it out of proportion.

He had also threatened to kill the most deserving doctor in lycanthrope history. He felt terrible about what he'd done, but he wasn't going to apologize because he wouldn't let anyone see his weak side again.
But that didn't disturb him for long as he shifted his attention to one of the many pressing matters at hand. Was there a saboteur among his comrades? He hoped and prayed to the goddess that his theories were erroneous and that what he was assuming was false.
All of his soldiers were trustworthy, and he would never have to doubt them again. But nothing made sense to him, why would somebody who swore to protect and serve him go behind his back and stab him like that? For how much? He wanted to know.
Did the person not think about the price for treason either? The two things the alpha king took to heart when it came to somebody he trusted were treason and betrayal, he would never think twice before ending the person.
He would catch that person, and once he did, there was no saving them; he was cutting off ties with the person by cutting off their air supply. But for now, he had to focus on the most important thing at the moment, hoping his beautiful mate would come back to him alive and well.

It'd been a month since Lilly had shown any symptoms of waking up. Of course, the alpha king's choice had been in such a terrible state for the past four days that there was nothing he could do about it.
What was worse was that the heaviness and weight of the situation had crashed onto him like a ton of bricks, she could die, and if she did, that was also the end of him as well. He would either lose his mind or die, he preferred to die.
Was she on the verge of dying? She was not going to die on his watch, not on his watch. Due to the lack of guards and castle maids, He stood up from his bed and strolled out of the chamber. The halls were unusually quiet and vacant.
The guards had been dispatched to training campgrounds and were on strict lockdown until the queen awoke; he was aware that this posed a safety risk, but he was willing to take it.
He would prefer not to be guarded by a traitor alongside the other innocent men. The maids' absence was due to terror; they were scared that the alpha king might suddenly come out of nowhere and begin murdering them for no apparent reason.

They were still in the castle, but they didn't wander around aimlessly like they usually did. The alpha king had ordered his second in command, Luke wanted to stay at the camping grounds with the guards,
he wanted him to keep an eye on the men and any suspicious behavior was to be reported to him with immediate effect. This was not a problem for Luke, as he was unmated.
He had no one waiting for him at home or a family, but he was fine with it until he saw how Matteo acted with Lilly and how good they looked together. Although he would never admit it in public, Luke was jealous of the alpha king, because of his position and because he was able to find love the first time he tried.
Luke had not been so lucky. He once loved Lilly, he had planned on choosing her by the time he clocked eighteen, but she had other plans. She had left him for the alpha just because she wanted to be the queen,
that was what he thought since she didn’t choose him, he thought he was not good enough for her. A few years later, he had joined the alpha king’s guard and went further to become the second in command to the king.
After hearing this, the woman he loved is now with the alpha. He immediately got jealous and had so much hatred for her.

The doctor met the king before he could enter Lilly’s room, “I have news, your majesty”, “What is it?”, the alpha king’s damp mood had lightened up at this news? What could this news be? Is Lilly awake?
